Apparently :ESPOrlando Ortega will receive the 110H bronze medal too.

IAAF & European Athletics have confirmed this on twitter.

Wow, IAAF is genoerous. Nowicki, Ortega. They're trying to make some good PR after giving WCh to Qatar

I am unashamed, at getting nothing done.

There always seems to be someone who steps up against Warner.  He had a disappointing discus and pv.  But who knows how it'll end.

Is this the first time in history that we have two non-parallel qualifying groups in Shot Put?

no, in the past (I mean, 20+ years ago) it was pretty normal to have 2 groups following each other and not running at the same time...

old stadiums not always had 2 shot put rings available...

Don´t know, but probably the first time we have non-parallel Pole Vault Decathlon groups :d

also here, it's quite usual that the 2 groups are not parallel, because they have discus throw before that and javelin throw after that which must be ccompleted in different slots, so also the pole vault in normal condition is never perfectly parallel (even because there's always a lot of disparity in terms of results between group A and B, with the one featuring the best specialists usually taking a lot more time than the other)...

Tim Nedow Qualified in Shot Put as well, I wonder how many finalists we will have

exactly 12  (with the Italian guy being the first among the eliminated putters )

Will be strange if Germany finishes the games without 1 gold

Generally some countries disappeared from athletics while new appreared

Even if Kaul doesnt win gold, Germany still has 3 gold medal chances. It would be disappointing if none of them would become reality.

China has been good in athletics in the past, but now they are super strong with already 8 medals.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

Very weird that Kaul just stopped jumping without a single fail. I think he could have jumped over 5.10 m or even 5.20 m. I hope that he wont miss a medal/gold by that margin.

Kaul is only favoured to win by 45 points right now, but Warner has thrown javelin much better this season than they predict (using his PB overall score).  So anything can happen.

Yeah, I Think it'll be pretty close between Warner, Kaul, Uibo and Shkurenov. Uibo is on fire today.

    • I still shocks, that a country of 4-5 million inhabitants? can be a powerhouse in almost every winter sport + handball, football (most recently with Haaland) and athletics: Ingebrigtsen, Warholm, etc. With such a small population, they can't be missing out on any major talent, surely? This must be the best training system in the world...
    • FIFA announced the stadium and time for each match   for  Iran, it will be 2 matches in LA (and not just 1) and 1 in Seattle and luckily we avoided playing in Canada. absolutely nothing against the country, but there are just too many douchebag Iranian groups in Vancouver trying to mix everything with their stupid politics. it's better to stay away from them.   that can happen in US too but less likely. playing in LA is more like playing at home, at least I hope so. 2022 Qatar was a disaster from our point of view, hopefully this one remains only about football.

    • Vladimir Semirunniy dropped a 12:28 in the 10000m B division, which qualifies him for the Olympics as the fastest time this season (with the big asterisk that it was done in a quad start). Must be a real relief for the Polish team given he isn't looking likely to qualify for the 10000m (or the 5000m) by ranking.   Really problematic that they rank pair start and quad start times together, but whatever.   Also, the Wikipedia page for qualification is updated through the second day.
