Matchday 1 of Women Campions League ended with two win for Italian teams:  Juve won 2-0 at Zurich; Roma, at debut in WCL, won at home 1-0 with Slavia.

The big surprise was the defeat at home of Lyon 1-5 by Arsenal.

Never before had any team conceded five as title holders in this competition, nor had Lyon ever done so in any competitive home match.

Barca recorded their biggest ever European win, 9-0 over Benfica.

They have done it again!

IF Brommapojkarna doesn't say much in European football, not even in Sweden football. Their only European participation was in 2014-2015 Europa League as a Respect Fair Play spot and they didn't make it to the group stage succumbing on 0-7 aggregate to Torino in the 3rd qualifying round after dismissing earlier VPS Vaasa and Crusaders Belfast, which was however a successful campaign.

However their famous history is made in the last 15 years. After promoting for the first time to Allsvenskan at the end of 2006, the team could not find the force to stay there and was relegated after one season. However they returned and played top level football again in 2009-2010 and 2013-2014.

Nothing strange up to this moment. From 2015 the team started a very interesting pattern. 2015 was a disastrous Superettan season which ended with the team being relegated to Ettan Norra (3rd level), but they were promoted back after 1 season and at the end of the 2017 campaign they fought their way back to Sweden top flight. Only to loose the relegation play-off and be demoted again. And guess what, for the second time in a row they lost their heads and were relegated another level back to Ettan Norra for 2020, where they could not go up again from the first shot but managed to do it last autumn.

And tonight, with a 3-2 home win and 2 games to play they have once again won the promotion to meet the Sweden big guns next season.

I wonder what happens in the future but for now it seems you need a good heart condition to cheer for this team, whose recent history is I think unparalleled in the recent world football.

Slovak Football Federation announced that the 20th November we will play a Friendly match against Chile.

Nothing so exceptional in this sentence you will say, anyway, this will be the official farewell of Marek Hamšík with the National Team. Still not known how many minutes he will play in the game, certain is just that he will be the team captain.

Marek last appearance in the NT was in 2021 in the home game against Slovenia during the 22 WC qualifier. It was his 135th official match for Slovakia (He is already the record holder, also the all time top scorer of SVK NT with 26 goals)

Thank you Marek for everything. Best Slovak footballer of all times

Legend just gone. End of an Era !

    • I still shocks, that a country of 4-5 million inhabitants? can be a powerhouse in almost every winter sport + handball, football (most recently with Haaland) and athletics: Ingebrigtsen, Warholm, etc. With such a small population, they can't be missing out on any major talent, surely? This must be the best training system in the world...
    • FIFA announced the stadium and time for each match   for  Iran, it will be 2 matches in LA (and not just 1) and 1 in Seattle and luckily we avoided playing in Canada. absolutely nothing against the country, but there are just too many douchebag Iranian groups in Vancouver trying to mix everything with their stupid politics. it's better to stay away from them.   that can happen in US too but less likely. playing in LA is more like playing at home, at least I hope so. 2022 Qatar was a disaster from our point of view, hopefully this one remains only about football.
