Sir Jason Kenny has retired. He won seven Olympic gold medals and two silvers, making him the best British Olympic athlete ever. A sad day, but as I first read the headline as "Jason Kenny dies" instead of retires

As now we come across the world
To share these Games of old
Let all the flags of every land
In brotherhood unfold

British Cycling about to destroy itself. A cyclist is dropped from the men’s Junior programme decides to change sex a month later & will now ride as a woman in the British Nationals as a woman at the weekend.

It's unfortunate that none of the female cyclists coming forward to express their feelings and opinions. Understandable, considering they would be condemned as homophobes and so on, but on the other hand, we seem not to have an open dialoge about trans representation in sports and it's creating more friction and probably just more difficult and negative atmosphere for those trans athletes themselves..

They've been told by British Cycling they'll be subject to disciplinary procedures if they do.

The good news is that the UCI have clearly told British Cycling they’re pushing it too far & the TG cyclist won’t compete as a woman for the time being.

This whole thing kind of wrongfully makes it sound like she decided to change sex because of being dropped from the junior programme. Which, you know, theoretically is possible, but extremely unlikely.

    • The Technical director of the Dutch Olympic Committee has, using his discretionary powers, decided to include them in the team. He cites “extra-ordinary circumstances”, but has not stated what they are. The use of these powers is quite rare. They were used in 2022 to nominate an alpine-skier.

    • I think the points from the test event should be simple to figure out since WC points from 15th on (continuing through the nations cup races) just count down by 1. Why would it be any different? The only thing that would be uncertain is whether Li and Fischnaller get 1 or 0.
