Not only awesome to watch, but I also want to see someone defeating him finally in the World Cup standings after the fair rivarly through the whole season.

I think this would actually be a reason for him to retire. The aura of being invincible, of not being beaten in the overall world cup once ever since he emerged as a contender is what sets him apart from all other greats of the sport. Kristofferson can go on to win 80 races but people would still remember Hirscher as the better skier as Kristofferson could never beat him. If Hirscher continues and Kristofferson (or anyone else for that matter) beats him the narrative changes completely.

The way Borg retired at 26 in tennis in his prime. How many people consider him now in the GOAT discussion. Very little, because stats is all that matter.

Svindal (barring the thousands of injuries he has had) for me has been the best skier i have seen in my lifetime. But Hirscher has the stats and that is the end.

    • Today is a day without Italians in the leads positions. I`m worried that they are not trying to revive this our sprint. There is only one Bosa and he is old. Pergher is young but she is also only one. It is a pity. After the Olympics they will probably 100% give up on the entire sprint. Our medal bag in Cortina will depend 90% on Ghiotto, just like it did on Fabris in Turin 2006. If Ghiotto will be in goodshape, he can even win 2 individual golds + a team medal. If not, it will be a flop. Apart from him, only Lollobrigida can compete in the mass start and possibly Giovannini in the men's mass start.

    • Yes, he is ones of the first supporters of Milei, owner of one of the most important stock market of Argentina (Bull market), he was peronist and for "unknown reasons" start to be libertarian.   Even being libertarian in my case, i have to admit that him is one of the dumbest of "Milei supporters" and a clown when  he is in TV, he made me feel  embarrassed in many occasions.   Camila Giorgi being with him is.......inconceivable.
