Mikaela Shiffrin, 17 WC victories in a single season.

To put that in perspective, with her 17 WC victories this season alone, she would be in Top 50 all-time for WC wins across men and women.

The very best and most successful season in (not only Alpine) Skiing of our history is over.

Petra rewrited our sports history during this winter so many times, let make a quick recap, 14 World Cup races podiums this winter, including 5 wins. missing only 1 Slalom and 1 Parallel Slalom podium during the whole season.

Beating the NR in Giant Slalom (previously 7th places) by 3 wins ! and one 3rd place in World Cup.

2nd place in the Overall Alpine Skiing World Cup final standing is something just unbelievable. + two 2nd places in WC final discipline standings (Slalom and Giant Slalom)

and last but definitely not least. Historic 3 medals at the World Championships, including the very first historic World Champion title for a Slovak Alpine skier in Giant Slalom

If Petra doesn´t win the Slovak athlete of the year this time, then I can not even imagine what successes other athlete(s) will reach this year to beat her

Yeah, and rude. It's not just her, by the way :p Way too many athletes don't get this rather simple bit of politeness

Apart from Sagan's 567th green jersey and obvious world title?

She was very shy for years though. It's only like in only the last two years she begins to laugh & enjoy it more. Remember her complete non-reaction to winning the gold in Vail when the crowd went nuts?

yeah, thanks for the jinx

I'd mention the Slovak ice hockey team at the home world championships, but we all know they're going to fail miserably sadly.

Wow Alice! I knew she was going to be good when she was killing everyone in continental cup at the age of 15, but no idea she’s going to be this good this fast! Incredible and her technique is so smooth.

60th win for Mika! And 4 globes this season, it’s hard to realize how good her season was in this moment, but hopefully she continues this form for a couple of years. I like how she’s learning from Maze not to go for too much, but I still feel she’s going to burnout faster than people expect.

Quite frankly only the injuries can stop her tbh. And the level of competition isn't very good. Only Vlhova can challenge her here & there. Veith is basically done with injuries, Gut hasn't recovered from hers much better and the new names are not really there unless maybe Robinson becomes the fresh sensation going forward? Holdener is a well-known choker so who is gonna deny Shiffrin now?

    • A bit of a mixed session for  GB.   The Women's Team Pursuit blew up in the final and were lucky to avoid the overlap. Worth saying the GB were the only medalist that didn't make use of their substitute rider - probably not surprising given the substitute was Lauren Bell. Still a second-tier team was good enough to take a silver.   The Men's Team Pursuit had a nightmare day. Having crashed in the first qualifying run, they did enough on the rerun to get to the 1st round where they did step up and qualify for the bronze medal match. They kept it close against China for the first half before fading pretty badly to finish 4th.   I was a bit surprised that the Women's Team Sprint were beaten by China. They were leading by 0.2 seconds after Bell and Finucane had completed their laps but it looked like Parris-Smith was just way too far back.   The standout was the Men's Team Sprint. I thought they were going to have to settle for the silver but somehow managed to pull it out of the bag in the final lap.        I definitely picked the wrong section of the crowd though - caught between two competing locals. One vocally anti-China, accusing them of cheating and booing every time they were on the track. At one point he was singing God Save the King and Rule Britannia. In the end he was asked to leave.    Biggest cheer of the night was for  Lee Sze Wing's silver in the elimination race.
