Holy crap that girl is 17, is that a genuinly good skier from the souther hemisphere in the making?

Also Brem is 5th. Please, please, please let this be the start of a return to her best.

She won the junior worlds a couple of weeks ago.

I feel like the Southern hemisphere athletes should have room for much improvement. Like everyone else, they are on the road during the season, but in the off-season they can train in their backyard basically. That alone should help their motivation tremendously. No wonder the Simari Birkners are everpresent.

True, it's just that I don't know whether there has ever been a southern hemisphere skier who was succesful in the world cup.

Vlhova wins by 0,11 from Rebensburg. That makes her 97 pts behind Shiffrin before Soldeu if my maths is correct (515 to 418).

Brem was just interviewed on Austrian tv and you could see she was close to tears. She went through so much over the last three years after probably being the best gs skier in the world for two years and now for the first time since 2016 she finally got a good result again. I can't put into words how happy I feel for her.

Mark my words, she will be on the podium in soldeu

    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places.
