just one final consideration...

with only 16 events, we have 25 Nations getting at least a medal, 10 of them winning at least 1 gold...

we have all the Continents (but Oceania) with multiple medals...

all the individual events had more than 50 entries (with just 1 athlete per Nation), in some cases even more than 70 (even the team Kumite events had 46 and 51 entries among the men and the women respectively)...

but for some reason Karate doesn't deserve to be an Olympic sport, favouring disciplines with less than 10 entries from the usual 5/6 Nations of the usual 2/3 Continents... :hairpull:

thank you IOC, thank you! :pope:

now it's really over...see you in the other sports' threads...:bye:

I watched almost all of the finals. lots of interesting high scoring matches, even though it was painful to watch, I still don't know why exactly our federation withdrew :wall: the way absolutely nobody talks about it, it looked like a super important security reason, something like the whole Dubai is going to blow up and only these guys knew about it.

hopefully one day in near future we will know the real reason, but for now it seems they changed the plan and will send the A team to the Asian Championship next month (something to make up for the athletes whom I assume are very upset now) they were supposed to send the 2nd tier Karatekas to Kazakhstan.

    • Argentina also has ski centers on the Tierra del Fuego but that doesn't mean it will immediately become a powerhouse in this sport
    • Speak for yourself. Why should we give up our one great talent of the younger generation when we have no one else? Maybe from the same reason that the USA didn't give up Schiffrin to another country when she had 17-18...
    • A very ignorant statement.   Of course the UK is not exactly known for its winter sport but there are some ski resorts mainly in Scotland, like the Cairngorms or the Nevis Range.
    • But in women's epee another defeat by Ukraine. We are slowly developing a complex about this country, because we are constantly losing to them in sabre too. Sabre has always been Ukrainian, epee for a draw or our slight advantage but a failed in women`s foil, which is already a shocking novelty
    • What comeback for the italian men's foil team in the finals vs the USA  Bianchi won 9-3 against Massialas in the last bout

    • Since it's the home Olympics I think there is a chance to have 50-60 million. It won't be Superbowl numbers, but it could very well be around a Presidential debate level.
