Artistic Gymnastics UEG European Championships 2018

I remembered someone said that the spanish women results in the Mediterranean Games were fake and inflated due to the games being hold in Spain. Today our girls get even a higher score

I did. And today's score was also a lot more than what I expected. Either the rest of Europe is doing terrible (if you look at how bad Italy and Germany were, this is somewhat true) or the Spanish girls have improved a lot (and they had a fantastic and flawless competition today, it seems). Let's see how they perform at the World Championships. I'm paying attention now, for sure. And I hope they prove me wrong yet again (for the third time lol) if they finish among the 12 best teams at Worlds.

:FRA:RUS:BEL:GBR  :NED:HUN:ESP and :UKR qualified for the Women´s Team Final ( :ITA and :GER as Reserves)

Team :SVK finished 19th ahead of 7 other competing teams with 139.596. not bad :d

Also nice 19th place of Barbora Mokošová in Uneven Bars (13.166),

but terrible beam performance, only 60th (10.733) even behind her team mate Kalamárová (50th) don´t know if that even happened that she lost to another SVK athlete in the last few years.

27th in FX (12.533) not bad, also the youngs Radka Kalamárová and Chiara Bunce with quite solid result according to our standards :yes

Belgium might withdraw from the women's team final, since one of their athletes got injured. That would mean the other three would have to do a day of all-around gymnastics, a day before some finals in which they have some medal chances.

Belgium :BEL has withdrew from women's team final so Italy :ITA will take its place

As expected. Sad, but better for the athletes than having too much competition and throwing away tomorrow's chances.

    • How wonderful!   I met the national rowing (and beach rowing) coach of EST/LTU/LAT on the way to ice hockey one day, who's Canadian by the way. I also flew home on the same flight as JC Schoonmaker's mom and friends, so we chatted for a bit.
    • Yea I only used transit besides this Uber / bus to the airport and back. All the venues were at the end of the line, so it allowed you to speak with other fans/volunteers etc. I even met Corrine Stoddard's mom after the first session of short track on the way back, and told her to remember our conversation if she won a medal later in the Olympics. We know how that ended up...
    • I used public transit the entire time I was in Milan.   My first day was a doozy, because I had to two flights to reach Malpensa, and then the train into town was delayed, and then I got confused a station and boarded a tram instead of the metro, proceeded to travel in the wrong direction, got off, walked back to the station, found the metro, got off a station early, walked around a kilometer to my hotel, and checked in.   My colleagues mostly took cabs upon arrival, but I deduced to take the frugal approach. That said, I was a true public transit professional by the time I left Milan.   I actually enjoyed my rides to and from venues, because I'd just chat up fans and volunteers from different countries. It helped me learn more about the city too.
    • It's the olympics, sleep is for the weak!    The first day i got there i was on a 12 hour flight from l.a to rome (flight that left mid day), lay over, another flight to milan, uber to hotel, then right away to speed skating (1500m men), then after uber to hockey venue for women's gold final, then after the celebrations uber to the hotel, i ended up being awake about 36 hours that day, the next morning i thought to go sightseeing in the center of milan, but ended up sleeping until like 2pm..... and had speed skating/short track that night
    • I tried to get onto the metro multiple times and gave up    I had just arrived the day of from Bangkok (12 hr flight) and was just exhausted and wanted to sleep
    • Plus, you missed out on a potential metro ride with me, which is quite priceless in my opinion
    • My hotel was very close to Rho so was easy to get there, but it was so far from the hockey venue that after the women's gold medal match it was so expensive to get back, and also the next day after the usa slovakia semis it took forever, the asshole driver took the city and not the freeway
    • Uber cost me $224 CAD to get back to the hotel from the OC. It basically prevented me from buying tickets to a speed skating session
