:SVK had internal qualification last weekend for the 1st WC stage, based on 2 races in Idre

1st race (10km Sprint)
Nominačné rýchlostné preteky na 10 km
1. 58.png ŠIMA Michal 0+0 0 26:16.9 0.0
2. 58.png SKLENÁRIK Tomáš 0+0 0 26:17.7 +0.8
3. 58.png BALOGA Matej 0+1 1 26:19.9 +3.0
4. 58.png HASILLA Tomáš 1+2 3 27:03.4 +46.5
5. 58.png BARTKO Šimon 3+2 5 29:00.1 +2:43.2
2nd race (15km Short Individual)
Nominačné skrátené vytrvalostné preteky na 15 km
1. 58.png ŠIMA Michal 0+0+2+0 2 40:33.9 0.0
2. 58.png SKLENÁRIK Tomáš 1+1+0+0 2 41:08.3 +34.4
3. 58.png HASILLA Tomáš 1+0+2+1 4 41:19.1 +45.2
4. 58.png BALOGA Matej 1+2+0+2 5 42:45.6 +2:11.7
5. 58.png BARTKO Šimon 3+2+2+1 8 44:28.6 +3:54.7

So the Men team for Ostersund Opening WC stage are Michal ŠIMA, Tomáš SKLENÁRIK (WC Debut) and Matej BALOGA. Extremely rejuvenated team.

The more experienced Tomáš Hasilla and Šimon Bartko will compete in IBU Cup in Idre.

For The Women Team there one place to be decided, it will be contested this weekend again in 2 internal races between the Machyniaková sisters, the Remeňová sisters and Henrieta Horvátová.

Only 1 of them will accompany the Fialková sisters (already nominated by default) in Ostersund WC, the rest 4 will compete in Idre IBU Cup.

+off topic SPAM.

Our federation alongside of our main biathlon website released a special calendar (from November 2021 to October 2022) with all detailed Biathlon competitions and races per day and is full of pics of our athletes. The price is however a bit expensive though 16 EUR, but if you are interested here is the shop :p

and the Womens internal qualification is over as well. It was very tense. After the first race yesterday Zuzana Remeňová was on the qualifying position, all her opponents already competed at the WC only Zuzana never, so she was so close of her debut.

Nominačné rýchlostné preteky na 7,5 km
1. 58.png REMEŇOVÁ Zuzana 0+1 1 28:44
2. 58.png REMEŇOVÁ Mária 1+2 3 29:32 +0:48
3. 58.png HORVÁTOVÁ Henrieta 0+2 2 29:38 +0:54
4. 58.png MACHYNIAKOVÁ Júlia 0+2 2 30:09 +1:15
5. 58.png

MACHYNIAKOVÁ Veronika

3+0 3 31:20 +2:26

But the second race with 4 shooting changed the final result, Both Remeňová sisters were fast on her skis, but biathlon is also about shooting and this at the end was the decisive moment for Henrieta Horvátová to win this internal qualification and accompany the Fialková sisters in Ostersund.

Nominačné skr. vytrvalostné preteky na 12,5 km
1. 58.png HORVÁTOVÁ Henrieta 1+1+00 2 45:21
2. 58.png MACHYNIAKOVÁ Júlia 0+0+11 2 46:19 +0:58
3. 58.png REMEŇOVÁ Mária 1+3+22 8 46:49 +1:28
4. 58.png REMEŇOVÁ Zuzana 3+0++1 7 46:50 +1:29
5. 58.png KAPUSTOVÁ Ema 1+1+13 6 47:44 +2:23
6. 58.png MACHYNIAKOVÁ Veronika 0+2+11 4 48:02 +2:41
7. 58.png HOLMIKOVÁ Veronika 3+2+12 8 54:13 +8:52

So the final Standing was really tight !

1. Horvátová 196.87,

2. Z. Remeňová 196.73

:SVK W Team in Ostersund World Cup

Paulína Fialková, Ivona Fialková, Henrieta Horvátová

:SVK W Team in Idre IBU Cup

Mária Remeňová, Zuzana Remeňová, Júlia Machyniaková, Veronika Machyniaková

I know it's not official, but it's pretty safe to assume that team Lithuania :LTU will consist of:

Men:

Vytautas Strolia

Tomas Kaukėnas

Karol Dombrovski

Linas Banys

Women:

Natalija Kočergina

Gabrielė Leščinskaitė

As for the IBU cup, it will probably be alternated between these names:

Men:

Maksim Fomin

Nikita Romanov

Jokūbas Mačkinė

Stepan Terentjev

Lukas Jakeliūnas

Women:

Lidija Žurauskaitė

Marija Kresik

Two new women on the IBU circuit. Is this a beginning of a renaissance? :yikes:

Not really, Kočergina is at the end of her career, not really sure how much longer will she last.

Marija Kresik was comfortably the third best Lithuanian last year, but for some reason she didn't start anywhere and I don't have any info behind that.

Lidija Žurauskaitė will be getting her passport any day now and then she'll be able to represent Lithuania.

I forgot to mention, but it's likely that Sara Urumova will start in the IBU cup too, but she doesn't really have any prospects. Then there's also Kapancova that's looking a bit better this season, but also miles away from actually doing damage in a race.

This may need another thread, but anyone want to do a low key fantasy biathlon game.  Let me explain.  For those who read Biatholn23 it would be something like he/she does.  Each of us would choose a number 10-30 at the beginning of the season.  Each race, you get the number of IBU points that that bib number earned.  It would change each race, so it would give you something a little extra to pay attention to.

Anyone up for this?
