Current year rankings don't always say everything though. For example if someone is ranked 10th but has shown in previous year to have a way higher potential, it's not very strange to put this person above people ranked 5th, 6th etc who have never shown they can be even faster.

It keeps being incredible how athletes manage to miss three tests in one year....everyone knows that results in a ban...

Apparently  Meraf Bahta (2 times European medallists at 5000m) also missed 3 tests, but the Swedish Federation and anti-doping agency decided to not suspend her, so she will compete, and her case will be reviewed later.

Wow, once again they'll use that pre-qualified to semifinals nonsense. In 2016 they had the excuse with the Olympics coming up, but this time it's plain stupid!

 

Why don't they introduce pre-qualified finalists as well? Or better yet, pre-qualified medalists?
