ISU updated the provisional quotas after SLC stage. But it didn't change the method which is consistent to last cycle but apparently not the current one.

My understanding of the current document is that 3 full quotas could be only obtained by points and never by time and also W3000m should give China a host quota as the 2nd person in on reserve list.

Yes you are right. The chart is not correct... just lists the timings in order of best times (without taking account the other criteria)

Updated 5000m:

By points: :SWE:NED x3 :ITA x3 :ROC x3 :BEL:CAN:GER:JPN

By time: :USA x2 :GER:SUI:NOR:JPN

So not a lot of changes after division B, Japan took a quota from Norway.

Women's 500m quota if my calculations are correct:

Reserves: :BEL :GBR :USA :POL :CHN :BLR :GER :BEL

:USA Brittany Bowe misses out on a quota for the USA by 2 points after skipping 3 races, and :BEL Sandrine Tas gets surpassed in the final race of the season and is now first reserve.

It looks like this is the Olympic debut for :ARG in speed skating.

It also looks like :NZL and :COL will both miss out on these Olympics entirely - :NZL is first reserve in the 10000m and was 3 points away from qualifying in the 5000m :(

Edit: actually, forgot that :NZL Michael is in a qualifying position in the 1500m (barely).

    • Because of the low number of votes some categories may be cancelled (under the rule that at least two people should vote for a nominee). I may give a few more days for voting but I guess there's just no interest this year
    • In Italy in recent years there is simply been a problem with training new talents and looking at Colturi, the problem probably isn`t a lack of talented youngsters but poor training. Colturi and Collomb were at similar level a few years ago but where are they now? And this is the same year of born - 2006. Since Goggia and Brignone young time we haven`t trained a single champion. It`s the same with men. Vinatzer is wasting away and regressing in development, the same with della Vite in the giant slalom. The problem is it the outdated system which proved effective at the beginning of the 21st century but not now This also applies to other winter disciplines with a few exceptions.
