Sailing Qualification to Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024

:BRA will refuse both ILCA quotas achieved by Gabriela Kidd and Bruno Fontes for not meeting the technical criteria (top 16 in Worlds in the Olympic cycle).

The Nacra17 team is also at risk, despite placing 17th at the 2022 Worlds. They will have one last chance at the coming Princesa Sofia regatta.

Why? What will happen with these quota places if they refuse to accept them? By the way, is Robert Scheidt already retired from Olympics?

First tranche of :NZL sailors for Paris were confirmed this week:

The quota was actually won by George Gautrey after he took bronze at the 2023 World Championships but Saunders got the nod after showing his form at the 2024 World Championships in Adelaide last month where Saunders finished 5th whilst Gautrey could only manage 15th

Mixed Multihull - Nacra 17: Micah Wilkinson & Erica Dawson

Men's Windsurfer - iQFOIL: Josh Armit

Women's Windsurfer - iQFOIL: Veerle ten Have

:ALG lost the quota of IQFOIL women

Algeria never got the quota, only one nation competed and they did not meet the minimum requirement at the 2023 World Championships.

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
    • Yeah, they do get broadcast pretty regularly.  I remember even back in Bode Miller's day they would show the training.
