Men's Football Qualification to Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024

Recommended Posts

Iraq now knows that it will challenge Argentina, Morocco and Ukraine in Group B at Paris 2024. We will know this Friday, May 3, who, Uzbekistan or Japan, will be crowned Asian champion at the end of the final in Doha. The winner of the U-23 Asian Cup will join Group D (with Paraguay, Mali and Israel) while the fallen finalist will be placed in Group C (with Spain, Egypt and the Dominican Republic) .

I used to think the USA and Canada had problems with racism, but then I interacted with Europeans and now I’m really not so sure.

the Indonesia coach took a red card for contesting a second penalty in favor of Guinea! This match is going bad! I am very sad about the situation, now there are boos and insults... I hope there will not be this kind of atmosphere at the Olympic games

    • Also it being illegal in France means the IOC will have to test everyone pre arriving at 2030 and can’t wait till they arrive at the Games to do so. I’m sure at 2028 for some sports testing will happen on site if it’s not a rule of its governing body for non Olympic events. So far only a few sports like Athletics and Boxing have that rule - I suspect others will adopt it but others might take time.
    • https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/articles/cpwj78lxypro ‘In France - one of a number of countries where genetic testing is illegal without a medical prescription due to privacy laws - the government has condemned the decision as "a step backwards". "It defines the female sex without taking into account the biological specificities of intersex individuals, whose sexual characteristics present natural variations, leading to a reductive and potentially stigmatising approach," claimed French Sports Minister Marina Ferrari.”   ‘A group of legal experts in human rights and sports have since expressed, external"urgent concern" about what they called "the regressive move toward genetic testing as a precondition of participation in women's sport" which they say "violate domestic and international laws that protect human rights and regulate the use of genetic testing and genetic information".  The group has called on athletes "to challenge the national or regional implementation of mandatory genetic sex testing, demanded by the IOC or international federations, before domestic courts, by invoking national or regional laws protecting human rights, prohibiting anti-discrimination, and regulating the use of genetic testing and genetic data".’   Domestic laws are more challenging for the IOC to deal with than CAS. Things could get complicated for a bit.
    • Except NOC’s and governing bodies have to still follow local laws. Particularly for Under 18’s there could certainly be domestic legal issues regarding associations paying for travel to other counties to circumvent a domestic ban. Child protection services don’t always act reasonable to attempts to break a domestic law.
