by the way, another really disappointing performance by Italy in canoeing (men's C2)...

But Romania rulllllllllz :cheer:

If the lights light up exactly at the correct moment, he was definitely first, since his light went on first. Not sure if those lights are 100% accurate though?

It was a disappointing performance for all the team... Expecially Tacchini e Santini/Incollingo...

well, Tacchini did more or less what I expected...he'll never be ahead of the likes of Brendel & co...he's not a medal candidate in global events...better accept it soon, before we get disappointed all the time...

Unbelievable, really fucking unbelievable...this is not even a curse now, this must be a voo-doo malediction

I remember quite a lot of sport events, but ever, really never I saw so many frustrating failures and near losses in a row..I am seriously noticing on myself how more and more I am losing my interest for the whole sports world right now...

Good to see the men's kayak single 200s getting broadcast.

With canoe sprint only getting 2 World Cup regattas per season as of late, it'll be interesting to see who wins that event in Heath's absence (with only the WCh still to come) as the top guys are mostly European. I don't know why Beaumont and Seja were made to share a heat, though (which the former won to qualify directly for the final).

On another note - if Google's translation of this Swedish article is correct, there will be a medal reallocation ceremony for Menning w.r.t the previous Euro Games K1M 200 (upgrade to gold after the disqualification of Miklós Dudás). McKeever (silver), Rumjancevs and Dragosavljević (both bronze!) will also get their medals at some point, be it in Minsk or elsewhere.

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
    • Yeah, they do get broadcast pretty regularly.  I remember even back in Bode Miller's day they would show the training.
