5 survivors are officially confirmed till now...but there where 72 people in the plane :(

Of those 72 passengers, 48 are Chapecoense players/staff, 21 brazilian journalists and 3 guests. There were also 9 people from the plane crew which brings the total to 81.

A colombian radio station is saying there are 2 deaths confirmed, but I'm gonna wait for official news.

Just worked out that Germany thrashed Brazil at the World Cup in 2014, maybe the Brazilian fans still hold a grudge after being humiliated 2 years ago. I wonder if Germany will be booed in the athletes parade?

No, the only "grudge" we hold is from our own team. Most of the brazilian players in that match are constantly mocked, so Neymar should be thankful he wasn't able to play.

very, very disappointed with the attendance at the first game...it reminds me the Athens 2004 experience, where only basketball and athletics had full stadiums...

now I see that in Sao Paulo it's better...but we're still far away from what it should look in an event like the OG...

I hope that tomorrow the boys would get more attention...

meanwhile, I like the graphics...they're definitely better than London and Sochi's (despite using more or less the same font)...

Don't expect huge crowds in women's football, most of the tickets not sold comes from these matches. Also, even sports like Rowing have some sessions sold out, so I wouldn't worry so much about empty stadiums.

The Brazilian mens NT beat Japan by 2-0 on Saturday.

The game was in the Serra Dourada Stadium (which will not be used in the Olympics), and the pitch was very bad. But I really like what I saw, the squad is very good and creative. I was quite excited.

Shame about Prass' injury, which made me think that Neymar is the last overage player from the original list not replaced... :zip:

I'm surprised that in Europe there seems to be a strong hooligan culture for national teams too. In Argentina there is, but only for clubs, no "hardcore" fans care about NT. Most who attend national team games are people or families who don't usually go to watch club football. You never get to see troubles in the stands or flares.

Same in Brazil. People mostly don't care about NT, but we have a lot of hardcore fans regarding the clubs - especially Corinthians.

To say the least... everyone but US federation knows its time for Klinsmann to let go the national team; the result only reflects the poor form of the Americans, as Colombia is also struggling to show the level they had in the last World Cup.

I'm fearing this Copa America will be just as bad (or worse) than the last one.

Brazil's team for Copa America:

Goalkeepers: Alisson (Internacional), Diego Alves (Valencia) and Ederson (Benfica)

Defenders: Daniel Alves (Barcelona), Fabinho (Monaco), Filipe Luis (Atletico Madrid), Douglas Santos (Atletico Mineiro), Miranda (Inter Milan), Gil (Shandong Luneng), Marquinhos (Paris Saint-Germain), Rodrigo Caio (Sao Paulo)

Midfielders: Luiz Gustavo (Wolfsburg), Elias (Corinthians), Casemiro (Real Madrid), Rafinha (Barcelona), Renato Augusto (Beijing Guoan), Philippe Coutinho (Liverpool), Lucas Lima (Santos) and Willian (Chelsea)

Forwards: Douglas Costa (Bayern Munich), Hulk (Zenit), Ricardo Oliveira (Santos) and Gabriel (Santos)

Kind of a young team with seven players eligible for Olympics (plus 2 overage athletes that will join Neymar in the tournament).

Easy (or not tough ;) ) draw group for :BRA (both tournaments)... expected, and not too easy for the big rivals at gold medals : Usa - women's and Argentina - men's ..... expected too :p

While Brazil men's group might be easiest one, I wouldn't say that about our women's group. Our female team is not what it used to be and both China and Sweden will be tough challenges. China, especially, is in a very good moment, having won against USA recently.
