Toby Roberts misses out on the final of the Boulder World Cup in Salt Lake City as he finishes in 7th place. Frustrating result for him - he had the same result as 6th place Sohta Amagasa - 2 Top / 3 Zones - he but took more attempts so ultimately missed out on the final.

Unless they are waaaay off the back, I'd doubt it. It's the first race of the weekend so they are freshest. And you never know what might happen in front of you even in a 4x4 (see Bol tripping and the US women exchanging outside the zone just from last summer). If they were going to take that chance, better to do it in race 2 tonight in the hope you are fresher tomorrow.

I wonder in the mixed 4x400m relay, we will see some athletes which have to double up, ease up if it becomes apparent that they won't finish in the top 2.

I think that we will know squads of each relay just before beginning of the races, as it's less than 2 hours away and we still have nothing...

Men's Ice Hockey IIHF Division I Group A World Championship 2024
copravolley replied to Totallympics's topic in Ice Hockey
To sum up, Italy did not deserve to be promoted to the Elite. They were unable to win against either Slovenia or Hungary. If they had won at least one of these matches, even after overtime, they would have advanced. Everything worked out perfectly for Italy: playing at home, failures of the main rivals against weaker teams, optimal preparation time for the tournament, etc. If we didn't advance in such a situation, we will never advance. Especially since I don't see any further plan here. I wonder what they will do with the Canadian coaches? -

Russian national freestyle Championship finished tonight, this tournament always serves as their trials. as long as Russia concerns this team goes to the Olympics and World Champs (for non-Olympic weights) but of course it's not only up to them 57: Akhmad Idrisov 61: Zavur Uguev 65: Shamil Mamedov 70: Inalbek Sheriev 74: Anzor Zakuev 79: Magomed Magomaev 86: Ibragim Kadiev 92: Alan Bagaev 97: Abdulrashid Sadulaev 125: Abdulla Kurbanov Zaurbek Sidakov (74) and Artur Naifonov (86) didn't wrestle here, apparently a bit injured, they will face the winner at some point (from what I heard in Hungary ranking series) same goes to Zavur Uguev, he wrestled at 61 to avoid cutting weight, but he is still a 57kg. The Great Sadulaev almost got pinned in the final against Alikhan Zhabrailov, some may say he did get pinned (that was dubious to me) but pulled himself together and won the match 8-4. 65kg final was also amazing between Mamedov and 61kg World Champion Abbasgazhi Magomedov which ended up 8-7 in Mamedov's favor.

And last year UWW immediately moved tournament from Poland when russians were not able to compete there - "defending the rights of athletes". Now we see that they defend athletes from certain states only.

Men's Ice Hockey IIHF Division I Group A World Championship 2024
copravolley replied to Totallympics's topic in Ice Hockey
Overall, these Olympics in Cortina-Milano will be a huge failure. It is not even known whether they will complete the bobsleigh track on time... Comparing 2006 and 2026, you can see how we have fallen as a country, because at least then all the sport facilities were completed on time. -
Men's Ice Hockey IIHF Division I Group A World Championship 2024
copravolley replied to Totallympics's topic in Ice Hockey
From 2019 we knew we had the Olympics and since then, instead of moving forward, we have been playing worse and worse. What's the point? Look at France, Switzerland etc. Even 15 years ago we played on equal terms with them, and now we have no chance against them. I don't expect miracles, but winning against Great Britain or Slovenia without their few experienced players should be obvious. Hungary played here with a hopeless coach and a conflicted team, but they still beat us. And this is our case... When will we finally win against someone serious? -
