heywoodu 13,560 Posted December 1, 2020 #21 Share Posted December 1, 2020 Awesome! The first small step towards becoming an Olympic event, let's see if the start of the World Cup will help make it a bit more competitive in the next few years, even men's NC is competitive compared to the women at the moment, but I have hope Especially considering most women are still teenagers apart from the 10 years older and dominant American. If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Basically all others are still just kids and the few who aren't shouldn't be close to her level. Interesting to see how the likes of Jenny Nowak and Lisa Hirner will do, they've been up there since they were 14 or 15 and women's NC slowly started in the COC I think. Same participants now of course, basically, but they could be the first stars once they grow up physically and get past the already adult Geraghty-Moats. Also, there's a Malacinski I see, just like in the (men's) COC in Park City last weekend. I'm guessing her brother, hopefully she'll do as well as he did there If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Not much, considering the competition is tomorrow And judging by the PCR today, she is very, very much the favourite. I fear this is not a sport where we can get too many podium places in the future, just like it happens among the boys...
NearPup 2,167 Posted December 18, 2020 #30 Share Posted December 18, 2020 What this competition showed to me is that women’s Nordic Combined isn’t ready for the Olympics yet but absolutely will be by 2026 given all the young athletes that are coming up. Very happy for Geraghty-Moats. She is a real pioneer of this sport and I am glad she will go down as a world cup winner.
