  1. Richard Pánik together with the czech Jakub Vrána was traded from the play-offs contender Washington to dead last Detroit (well, at least he may be now eligible for the World Champs ) and another Slovak may experience very soon his NHL debut, the 21 year old Bratislava born forward Adam Ružička was called to the A team of Calgary Flames from the AHL Stockton for the next trip. Rumors saying he may play already tonight against Toronto to became then the 90th Slovak in NHL in history.
  2. Our NOC chef de mission said Obviously Tokyo 2020(1) will not be cancelled. there to much money involved. But one thing is certain, without spectators (not sure even the Japanese will be allowed to be in the stands) under strict covid-19 olympic rulebook, without this unique typical olympic atmosphere of togetherness of all atletes from all over the world sharing the same village, canteen etc... We will not have the Olympic Games in Tokyo this year, just a sort of Olympic competitions.
  3. will participate at the World Relays Only the 2nd time ever ! we participated only once so far, during the very first edition in Nassau 2014 in M 4x800m (8th place). This time we´ll send a Mixed 4x400m relay, apparently we are around 5th place behind the last Olympic spot via ranking, so even if not realistic to qualify it is really nice and pleasant to at least try and send participants, something quite unusual for us, it does not happen in some other sports so often. The team : 1st leg - Oliver Murcko (expected to be our weakest leg) 2nd leg - Iveta Putalová 3rd leg - Emma Zapletalová (expected to be the strongest leg) 4th leg - Šimon Bujna and alternates: Martin Kučera (still in contention to be part of the relay), Patrik Domotor for the M, Alexandra Bezeková & Daniela Ledecká for W Mixed 4x400 Relay situation Already Qualified (8 relays) Currently on the qualifying places 3:16,12, 3:16,65, 3:16,76, 3:16,85, 3:16,90, 3:17,17, 3:17,53, 3:18,77 Next under the line 3:19,50, 3:19,63, 3:19,91, 3:20,31, 3:20,43, 3:20,47, 3:20,66, 3:20,73 Our team is already in a special training camp in Tenerife for some while now and will remain there until the departure for Poland
  4. Marián Studenič was finally called by the New Jersey Devils and is expected to experience his NHL debut tonight against Pittsburgh. if he´ll then he would be the 89th Slovak player in NHL in history believe it or not but the guy started the season in Slovan Bratislava as loaned, before the christmas he was called by the Devils back to USA and send to Binghamton in AHL, last week he was called back to New Jersey as member of the "taxi team" and this morning he finally received that holy call from the GM, that he is in the line-up for tonight match Good luck Majo !
  5. well, the same is everywhere, here even the lower "amateur" football leagues are cancelled, indoor sport (even trainings) are completely prohibited (except Hockey & football top 2 leagues, Volleyball, Basketball & Handball 1st leagues and eventual international events). I believe it is the same pretty everywhere. Still, I think athletes are always able to deliver incredible combativeness and get nice medals and results here and there at the Olympics. like Del Potro.
  6. Maybe they started right for Atlanta then, I am definitely not sure, but I think we can agree it was certainly during the late Samaranch era and I remember Atlanta too, even if I was much more younger, I remember Lillehammer Ice Hockey matches (the SVK-ITA game) the whole school we followed in the school gym hall in a atrocious old big screen at my elementary school
  7. I believe the first changes came after Atlanta 1996 when the amount of competing athletes started to be unsustainable, they were some sort of minimum criterias for competing also before but for Sydney they started to use the standards in Athletics and Swimming and IOC instaled the tripartite free quotas for non-qualified countries to a limit of max 6 per nation if I am not wrong
  8. the fact that by far the best of our athletes here finished a representative of a completely different sport, who decided to attend to this championship only as part of her "winter" preparation for the Tokyo summer season speaks for itself about the tragic state of our weightlifting Martina Hrašnová (Hammer Throw) the World Champs bronze medalist from Berlin and two times European Championship medalist was not far to win a medal also in a totally different sport, she just finished 6th in the W +87 (was even 4th in Snatch, that must be a bit embarassing for all other starters here ) https://www.atletika.sk/kladivarka-martina-hrasnova-ktora-sa-chysta-na-oh-v-tokiu-si-odskocila-na-me-vo-vzpierani-v-moskve-kde-skoncila-siesta/
  9. Well, as always something between Zero and Six. Fantastic Olympics = 6 medals Disastrous Olympics = 0 medals Anything between them is realistic. Hopefully we will win some and hopefully also some gold(s) So far we did not win Gold at Summer Olympics since the independence only in London 2012. If I had to pick our eventual chances for gold I would pick obviously M Canoe Slalom C1 and Mixed Trap Teams. but you know, how it is. the two most unpredictable sports, where everything can happen and change at any second Obviously Canoe Slalom is and will be again our phare sport, I already see myself looking for another TV channels to watch something else, since our TV will again spend more than 50% of its coverage with only speaking from the canoe slalom studio...

  17. Obviously I am risking it. I have no idea what fruit salad they eat in Spain, I never ate there
  18. Sorrey
  19. No idea. lets go with B- Grecia
  20. well, all 4 answers are possible here..maybe except Suiza... so there 3 remaining Italia, Grecia and Macedonia. I seriously have no idea. Maybe Italia is not really a name you would give to a fruit salad. but I do not know Greece or Macedonia ?
  21. I thought it was from northern Russia/Baltic countries
