  1. Very true. I do apologize for causing such a stir. I did see that his university released a statement morning his death too. Huk was really well liked, and a very positive member of all the communities he was a part of. That much gets clearer everyday.
  2. Ugh, the world champs need to slow down. Every sport needed to have there’s in a the span of a month. I already have an entire speech to write for my comms class. There’s no way Totallympics Media will reporting on reporting on this shite . If only I could clone myself.
  3. First of all I’ve only asked twice. Second, I don’t know if you noticed, but I’ve been paying my respects since the news broke. I only want the information to help with my closure. Different people handle death differently. I’ve restrained myself as much as I can, but I don’t like not knowing the truth. I’m sorry that offends people, but I don’t like not knowing what happened. I apologize for pressing the matter. It’s my job as journalist to find out what happened.
  4. It’s a beautiful gesture though, especially for someone who worked as a journalist. It really shows how much he meant to people . I was going to suggest changing to forum’s basic color to black and replacing the XC skier with a Handball pictographs for the next week. I don’t know what people’s feelings about that would be though. I definitely think we should do something though.
  5. It’s not super creative, but there just didn’t some to be a lot of amazing entires in the “design a medal” contest this time around
  6. Alright, this is some old news, but it seems I forgot to post it as well. Here is the official medal design for the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics
  7. Well according to the ranking they’ll be in the hunt for a bronze medal, and maybe even a chance at the final. could have chosen a men’s team still, but I don’t think they were looking forward to playing the US, Canada, Finland, and Russia.
  8. Oh! The Ice Hockey teams are on here as well. Here is the quota allocation, followed by a breakdown. Men’s Team: Canada Denmark Finland Russian Federation Switzerland United States Women’s Team: Czech Republic Germany Japan Slovakia Sweden Switzerland Allocation Breakdown: It looks like you’ll be cheering for the girls @hckosice. I’d love to see a v. Gold Medal Match. The biggest surprise by far is getting a boys team. I guess that’ll give @Agger and @Wumo an excuse to watch ice Hockey . Personally I wanted the US to go with the girls, but of well. Hopefully we can beat Finland, Canada, and Russia. It would have been fun to see France, too bad they couldn’t manage to get a few more points.
  9. Detailed schedule courtesy of the Austrian Olympic Committee: https://www.olympia.at/download/files/{1D2A99FA-05B7-429E-AD48-927A41751D43}/Lausanne_2020_-_Training_and_Competition_Schedule_September_2019.pdf The formatting is weird, but I do believe that this is the really schedule.
  10. Yeah people need to chill with the amount of times the take antibiotics. We’re going to have serious problems in the future.
  11. Why are Russian (Soviet) scientist always trying to kill us? They give us the periodic table and then are like “fuck it, kill them all”
  12. The Youth Olympic flame ceremony has always taken place in Athens. I think it’s just a cost saving measure for the Greeks because it’s takes the government a lot of time to plan the actual Olympic flame lightings. Tokyo 2020 will be in March or April most likely.
  13. Cornhole is actually a very pretty popular sport in the US. ESPN generally shows a tournament every few weeks. I’d every say it’s more popular than Darts here.
  14. The torch lighting ceremony from Athens will be live here: I don’t know the exact, but it will happen on September 17
  15. I’m finding it hard to sleep tonight after today’s news. It was just so sudden and unexpected. I just wish I knew more, and that I’d gotten to know the user better. I feels weird to carry on like nothing happened. Maybe that’s just me though, I don’t know. I might not post for a bit, I’m just not feeling up to it. Hopefully I sleep well and have a better mental state tomorrow.
  16. Comparing feminists to flat-earthers and anti-vaxxers is a bit harsh I think.
  17. I don’t usually quote posts twice, but in the case I believe it’s acceptable. I struggle with loss. I’ve been very lucky to only have to deal with it a few times in my life. This is the first time, since I’ve been on the forum, that this community has lost a member in such a way. I’ll be completely honest when I say that unfortunately I never really got interact with @hukbrazil that much. It pains me to hear how loved he was by this community. The one, and really only memory, I have of @hukbrazil was our discussion on the Olympics video games. He had gotten the Tokyo 2020 and promised to give me a review. Unfortunately I never got his review, but I really hoped that he enjoyed the game as much as I have. As I said, I didn’t know him well, and it pains that I didn’t get to know him better. As a writer, one of the best things I can do for people is help them remember someone, so when our community is ready, I’d like to offer some ideas. I’m starting to get too emotional to continue, so I’m going to finish hear. I’d just like to say that I’m here to support any users who need it. My DMs are always open, and I’ll always have time for the members of this community. I’d love to hear more stories about @hukbrazil if people are willing to share them. “Sport has the power to change the world.” Based off of vini’s story it obviously changed huk’s or at least the world of those around him. “It [sport] has the power has the power to inspire.” Huk’s avatar clearly proves that he was inspired by sport. “Sport can create hope where there was once despair.” It was hard to think of a way to use this quote. I’d like to think that huk passed with a heart full sport. It’s obviously something that he loved, and something he wished to share with others. As a fellow journalist, I’d like to share one of my favorite publication mottos; “To see Life; to see the world.” Huk obviously saw life in his work as a journalist. It’s not something you do for money, it doesn’t often pay the bills, it does however allow us lucky few to tell stories, to bring people to the bigger picture, and to often connect various groups of people. O Que Está Morto Pode Nunca Morrer! Huk will live on through sport in this community. He will be remembered as kind, humble, and welcoming by those he interacted with. Descanse Fácil Agora Totallympian, May we one day meet to play handball in the stars.
  18. Before I post my thoughts on @hukbrazil do you happen to know what lead to his passing? It’s just so sudden, it’s hard to believe.
  19. And if you enjoyed that video there’s a whole playlist of sports that are explained by him. I’ve used this to better prepare myself as a reporter.
  20. Well Reynolds is very talented so it’s a well deserved win I’d say.
  21. Oh I think we’re way passed the “but IOC rules say” with Bach. There were recent amendments approved for the bid process by the IOC. One of those was getting rid of hard date limits. If Bach has what he wants, Queensland has already won.
  22. @phelps It’s looking more and more like Queensland will host in 2032: http://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1084612/ioc-praise-queensland-2032-bid I wouldn’t be shocked if they’re announced as hosts within the next year.
  23. Youth sports are fucking insane in the US. It’s all done wrong, but good luck anyways.
  24. Well hopefully I inherit in very expensive property then . I have enough connections, I’m not worried.
