  1. Just out of curiosity, what do you call the bug, the road next to a highway, the divider between traffic, the sweet carbonated drink, and the place where traffic meets at an intersection without traffic lights that goes in a loop? Speaking of traffic lights, there’s nothing more horrible as an American than traveling to Canada and getting a blinking green. The shit gave my whole family a collective heart attack.
  2. There’s also a lot modern slang they don’t test for. They could probably guess your age, where you live, and if English is your first language just based off a good quiz. They haven’t made one for Canada, but there is one for the UK and Ireland.
  3. I like it too. The bigger nations can focus on team and all-around while the smaller nations can put focus on one athlete who has the potential to medal on a single apparatus.
  4. Better article here: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.olympic.org/news/amp/olympic-channel-will-present-300-hours-of-lausanne-2020-coverage
  5. The Olympic Channel will broadcast 300 hours of content (probably around 200-250 hours of live sports from what I can gather) : http://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1085446/lausanne-2020-to-air-on-olympic-channel
  6. Well I’ve run 3 5k races in December without any training whatsoever before, so I’ll feel over prepared for this . I am aware that my training schedule will be tight. Just have to stay focused on goals and perform the way I have for 9 years pervious.
  7. Where were the replays located? What platform? Yeah India isn’t the best at web design. The worst offenders for multi-sport games web design in my opinion are: 1) China 2) Former Yugoslav countries 3) India 4) Morocco, and 5) Italy. Everyone else has great websites generally, but these 5 haven’t quite figured out the internet yet, and most haven’t found HD cameras either.
  8. I got Reno and Fresno. I don’t get LA because my grandma, who I’m close with, was raised in Kansas, so I’ve picked up some of her slang. Plus, I’ve picked up some of my dads from the NorthWest, so I get put somewhere in the middle of those three, hence Reno. What about you guys @dezbee2008 @Maxim Fastovsky @bmo @Rdbc @Csapo? I’d be interested in @intoronto @ofan @orangeman answers too, and maybe @OlympicIRL @Grassmarket @Dragon since our language is the closers in similarity.
  9. Here’s a quiz that tells you where in America you’re from based off your accent. I’d be interested to see a few users try: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2014/upshot/dialect-quiz-map.html
  10. Alright, I’ve decided that I didn’t like putting on 20 pounds this year. I’m a 150 lb man, not a 170-175 lb man. I recently saw that my biggest local 5km event added a 10km to their program this year. So I’ve decided it’s time for my 10km debut and to resume my distance running career for the 10th year in a row. The race will take place on November 28, so I’ve got just under 2 months to get in shape. This week, starting tomorrow, my goal is to run 20-30 mins (1 1/2 - 2 miles a day). I’m going to gradually bump that up to 75 minute runs. My goal for the 10km is a) finishing it b) not vomiting c) going under 50:00 d) keeping a 7-8 minute mile pace. If all goes to plan I’ll follow it up with a 5km in mid December before either ending my short season or looking for an orienteering race to do. I’m hoping to actually see this through. I’ll try to give a few updates here and there, but I’m feeling optimistic. I’d like to Triple Jump next spring too.
  11. Huh, I wonder why?
  12. Unfortunately yes
  13. I’d say Paraguay is closer personally. They have a decent runner, some decent golfers, some decent tennis players, a decent table tennis athlete, and some decent rowers. Bolivia has race walkers, marathoners, and racquetball players. That’s it. I do agree they are showing improvement though. The continent as a whole is in my opinion.
  14. I don’t think there will be one, but it is strange that many people seem okay to have one . As I said the next year will be a defining moment in my countries history.
  15. @Wumo I have a general question about qualification. I know that the number of quotas per event and per gender are capped at a certain amount. I was wondering if the universality quotas are included in that amount?
  16. So something I’ve picked up on lately listening to people online and around my town. People are genuinely beginning to consider the prospect of civil war after Trump mentioned it the other. What’s odd is that on the surface everyone acts like it won’t ever happened, but interestingly, in private people are contemplating it. I’d say this is honestly the closest since 1865, maybe 1960, that the country is at danger of splitting apart (which I’d be fine with low key). As I keep saying every week, there are only interesting times ahead here in America. We’re just about 1 year out from elections, and this will not be a year forgotten by American history, that is the only certainty.
  17. When isn’t it . I got bored of winning medals at the Pan Am Games after the first week.
  18. would be next best after , then
  19. I though so as well, but the people may be apprehensive after the bombings.
  20. He was extremely disappointing at the 2019 Pan American Games. Hopefully it was just nerves at his first major event as a medal contender.
  21. Well can’t have two lifters in one weight class under the new rules I believe... was also in that China, Kazakhstan, etc. group that got banned for a while. Not sure about Belarus
  22. @dezbee2008 and I are 90s/00s kids, so we go together very well (even if my taste is obviously better )
  23. have a very good women’s weightlifter, but I can’t remember her name. She should have a legitimate chance. I’d be surprised if she didn’t challenge for a medal.
  24. have Mary Lifu (or a similar name) that has a good chance. Also did well at the 2017 AIMAG and 2019 Pacific Games. She may have won a Commonwealth Games medal as well, but I can’t remember.
