  1. I’m finding it hard to sleep tonight after today’s news. It was just so sudden and unexpected. I just wish I knew more, and that I’d gotten to know the user better. I feels weird to carry on like nothing happened. Maybe that’s just me though, I don’t know. I might not post for a bit, I’m just not feeling up to it. Hopefully I sleep well and have a better mental state tomorrow.
  2. Comparing feminists to flat-earthers and anti-vaxxers is a bit harsh I think.
  3. I don’t usually quote posts twice, but in the case I believe it’s acceptable. I struggle with loss. I’ve been very lucky to only have to deal with it a few times in my life. This is the first time, since I’ve been on the forum, that this community has lost a member in such a way. I’ll be completely honest when I say that unfortunately I never really got interact with @hukbrazil that much. It pains me to hear how loved he was by this community. The one, and really only memory, I have of @hukbrazil was our discussion on the Olympics video games. He had gotten the Tokyo 2020 and promised to give me a review. Unfortunately I never got his review, but I really hoped that he enjoyed the game as much as I have. As I said, I didn’t know him well, and it pains that I didn’t get to know him better. As a writer, one of the best things I can do for people is help them remember someone, so when our community is ready, I’d like to offer some ideas. I’m starting to get too emotional to continue, so I’m going to finish hear. I’d just like to say that I’m here to support any users who need it. My DMs are always open, and I’ll always have time for the members of this community. I’d love to hear more stories about @hukbrazil if people are willing to share them. “Sport has the power to change the world.” Based off of vini’s story it obviously changed huk’s or at least the world of those around him. “It [sport] has the power has the power to inspire.” Huk’s avatar clearly proves that he was inspired by sport. “Sport can create hope where there was once despair.” It was hard to think of a way to use this quote. I’d like to think that huk passed with a heart full sport. It’s obviously something that he loved, and something he wished to share with others. As a fellow journalist, I’d like to share one of my favorite publication mottos; “To see Life; to see the world.” Huk obviously saw life in his work as a journalist. It’s not something you do for money, it doesn’t often pay the bills, it does however allow us lucky few to tell stories, to bring people to the bigger picture, and to often connect various groups of people. O Que Está Morto Pode Nunca Morrer! Huk will live on through sport in this community. He will be remembered as kind, humble, and welcoming by those he interacted with. Descanse Fácil Agora Totallympian, May we one day meet to play handball in the stars.
  4. Before I post my thoughts on @hukbrazil do you happen to know what lead to his passing? It’s just so sudden, it’s hard to believe.
  5. And if you enjoyed that video there’s a whole playlist of sports that are explained by him. I’ve used this to better prepare myself as a reporter.
  6. Well Reynolds is very talented so it’s a well deserved win I’d say.
  7. Oh I think we’re way passed the “but IOC rules say” with Bach. There were recent amendments approved for the bid process by the IOC. One of those was getting rid of hard date limits. If Bach has what he wants, Queensland has already won.
  8. @phelps It’s looking more and more like Queensland will host in 2032: http://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1084612/ioc-praise-queensland-2032-bid I wouldn’t be shocked if they’re announced as hosts within the next year.
  9. Youth sports are fucking insane in the US. It’s all done wrong, but good luck anyways.
  10. Well hopefully I inherit in very expensive property then . I have enough connections, I’m not worried.
  11. The US delegation is becoming very impatient. We might just have to buy Greenland to catch the organizers attention. Also, If the US host city isn’t Nuuk than why do we even do this anymore
  12. All I know is that me nor @thiago_simoes should ever ever holiday there. I’ll stick to Mammoth personally
  13. Sport Climbing . Arguably the best sport, after Biathlon of course (and maybe Cycling) @heywoodu
  14. Yes those have published for a few months. We posted them on an earlier page .
  15. I’ll drive down or stay with my grandpa in Orange. Depends what events I get as volunteer.
  16. That was super exhausting. The gym had to be 200 F degrees. I had to judge 3 separate routes for 5 different divisions. Apparently I judged our national youth C champion at some point. It sounds like we’ll get a chance at the routes. I’m freaken tried, so I might not. This takes the number of sports I’ve judged, refereed, or volunteered at to at least 5 off the top of my head. Saw some great climbing and learned quite a bit about the sport too. Hopefully that knowledge is hopeful for reporting purposes.
  17. I’m really hoping for LA 2028 and then Salt Lake 2030. Both are within driving distance, and absolutely love both cities.
  18. So 5 then...What’s odd is that I’m pretty sure in my days of Wikipedia wandering I’ve seen this. I checked the racquet sports, but no luck (Basque Pelota being the strongest candidate so far). I’d say there’s a good possibility that it might not be a racquet.
  19. What about Muay or Kickboxing? Or karate! It looks similar from what I can picture.
  20. It’s better than professional or competitive coke sniffing obviously . From reason I was reminded of a really funny story. My younger sister gets in the car with my mom after school. She begins to tell my mom that some kids were passing around drugs during class. My mom asks what drugs, and my sister says “medical cocaine” . I know she was only in middle school, but every pre-schooler in California knows the difference between cocaine, marijuana, shrooms, meth, or heroine. We still tease her to this day.
  21. Women’s Gymnastics and Figure Skating would no longer exist if that first point was true. Yeah, Shaun White is a good skater, but he’s not that good. I swear if he makes the final.
