  1. Happy Krampusnacht to all of the Central European users
  2. Welcome @Rohan! I believe you’re the user I got to join over at Reddit. Always nice to see new faces, enjoy the forum
  3. Welcome @kjonik67! Enjoy the forum!
  4. She would definitely be allowed to compete. Ledecky won her first medal when she as 15 I believe. Yes, I believe FINA as said that athletes in Aquatics must be 13 years old and older.
  5. I’ve tried to follow them too, but it’s just as hard (or harder). To be completely honest, I’m more interested in the upcoming Winter Deaflympics starting next week, and Winter YOG coming in January (I’m a big winter sports guy). Still glad to see some footage though.
  6. Your English is some of the best I’ve seen from a foreign speaker. You learned the language the ideal way too. Through media and speaking with people (as well as formal instruction). It’s cool to hear about your parents too. Both my parents to graduate university. One with a useless degree in physical education (and with a minor in history), and one with a major in English and teaching. I’d just went ahead and combined they’re passions apparently . I hope you’re still very fluent in Indonesian by the way. I hate it when people give up their native language. I’m only 3 generations removed from when my family spoke Norwegian (and possibly German/Danish), but my that part of the family decided it was best not to teach the kids their language . Mostly because of American xenophobic attitudes about languages other than English or French (Americans love French for some reason).
  7. Best way to enjoy it. Especially inside dark chocolate
  8. What if Açaí gets involved?
  9. The new two-wave system actually is quite good. Much more quotas available, and higher international participation. I like the direction the IOC is going in for 2022. I do agree that they should most certainly be held every 2 years like the EYOF though.
  10. People seem to think Beijing will host them as a test event... I don’t think the venues will be ready in time. Sapporo could feasibly host again, and really Pyeongchang could host both. Almaty is still very capable of hosting as an emergency host as well. I still don’t think the games will happen though.
  11. Some interesting stats: I wish the platform itself was more useable, but has been a great resource (especially because of NBC’s deal with the OC in the US)
  12. I’m a bit lazy this morning, so here’s a playlist made by the FEI for the 2019 Asian Championships:
  13. Shame fore Brasov. I think they made a bid for this edition too. It’s going to be tough for a city like Brasov to win though, since they don’t have a sliding track or an indoor speed skating oval.
  14. Most likely she was asked by some “friends” (government) back home.
  15. Live-streaming available too. I’ll post a playlist in a bit.
  16. I would say that both 2015 and 2017 are still a bit better than 2019. The games have been fine despite the terrible organization, and I loved the ceremony, but the results and streaming situation is much less than ideal, and that’s a big deal breaker for me.
  17. My Spanish teachers have always said the same. I still speak English because I’m not that into Spanish. I have nothing against people who speak Spanish, it’s just not for me. I want to learn some more exotic languages.
  18. Love the ad, still not supporting him in the primaries, but really, great ad
  19. Same. I also find myself thinking I could support Bloomberg. He’s a good candidate, and has a good record. He supports journalists (Bloomberg is generally a trustworthy publication). I don’t respect him running in this election though because I fear he will cause a split in anti-Trump voters. Klobuchar would be lucky to be in the top 10. No one (not Republicans, not Democrats, maybe Independents) wants a moderate right now.
  20. I knew you’d get a kick out of that. I always noticed that we call it Bahasa Indonesia, but Indonesians generally just call it Indonesian.
  21. Bahasa you mean
  22. @Griff88 forgot about this thread . Probably should talk about your English knowledge/ability here.
  23. Just popped in my mind, @Griff88 how did you come to learn English. Your English is incredibly good and always understandable to a native speaker. I’m just curious how you got to be so good (obviously practicing here on the forum helps, but it’s clear you’ve been instructed well).
  24. @Griff88 isn’t Regu just Malay or Thai for “team”?
  25. Well Double, Regu, Quad are played differently, but I agree (and totally forgot about) Chinlone. Chinlone should definitely be in the SEA Games. Asian Games should just be Regu really, but I’m fine with Doubles and Quad too.
