  1. FISU.tv should have all the broadcasts again. Not sure if there’s media deal that excludes certain countries.
  2. You have appreciate how spectators will lightly applaud someone for erasing a ball mark before it can be checked (even if it wouldn’t influence the call in anyway), but are fulling willing to boo a player for opting out of a non-compulsory handshake
  3. Gall within striking distance of Ciccone for the polka-dots if he desires a big prize after today. Those two could have a fun race over the final mountain stage. I expected Powless to be in better shape. It was nice to see an American in one of the leader’s jerseys while it lasted. I just hope Kuss will be allowed to challenge for the GC one day
  4. NBC had their in-race reporter (Christian Vande Velde) right there by coincidence. The red car tried to pass motorbikes (or move out a gap by pulling to side) and caused a traffic jam accordingly to him.
  5. This is the major, systemic problem to me as well. I think there needs to be more innovation within the financial model of multi-sport games. We live in the age of streaming, and yet many major events still rely on traditional broadcast deals. I’ve always wondered how events would fare with a pay-to-watch platform similar to europeangames.tv. We’ve already seen a few sports trying this model with Recast or “in-house” platforms. Of course, price point(s) need to balance money brought in versus people willing to pay (which might be difficult). Additionally, more public viewing centers could be set up in host cities for locals/visitors if stadium capacities are smaller. Charge a small fee to enter such areas, and allow local vendors to sell goods inside (along with your merchandise). Use of existing venues should be imperative as well. New venues should emphasize cost and function over frills and splendor. It might be wise to reduce some of the venue capacity requirements as well, especially if people have easy access to coverage of the event online or at public watch parties. Those are just a few suggestions. I don’t know how realistic they are, but clearly some new ideas are needed in this sector. It’d be a shame to lose a bunch of multi-sport games in the future.
  6. The schedule wasn’t always accurate though. I’d show up to a venue to find the time/court/etc. had changed from what was advertised on the schedule. Accurate schedules are hugely important to journalists covering multiple sports like me. It’s also an easy to figure out the format of different events. The lack of documented results was really annoying too. I think it was mostly an “in-house” operation though. I never saw anyone from Atos at the Games. Still, PDF results would have been nice. I’m glad I’m not the only that’s noticed the downward trend in quality post-pandemic. I feel like the last cycle (Rio 2016-early 2020) was really good. Many events had proper result systems, with PDFs available. Some of the same issues existed: documents missing, inaccurate information, unwelcoming UI, etc. However, it didn’t feel as systemic problem as it does now. Hopefully, the next few events are better.
  7. Once again, though, it leaves itself open to a lot of interpretations and contradictions. Reading it just now, it seems like quotas are capped at 136, but the document basically guarantees the distribution of 180 quotas (before taking into account athletes “doubling-up”). Also, the language in the continental qualification section is confusing as hell. I’m assuming that criteria will be applied the way it was in previous cycles, but hard to be 100% certain.
  8. My French isn’t great, but I believe intends to bid now.
  9. I’d imagine it will be a few more days before that kind of information becomes more readily available.
  10. It was a regional multi-sport games held under the auspices of Virtus, which is a para sport organization serving athletes with an intellectual impairment. Virtus is more about elite sport, as where the Special Olympics is more about inclusion (no matter ability level).
  11. It frees up the calendar and maybe injects a little more funding for those events. They might be more willing to take the European Games seriously now.
  12. If they win two quotas here, they lose that quota.
  13. Yes, they are considered separate. An NOC can have synchro quotas and individual quotas.
  14. The more interesting prospect might be what it would mean for the European Championships/European Games.
  15. Unfortunate news for all the Brianne’s born in 2023
  16. Results system is available: https://eyof-maribor.com/en/schedule-and-results/ It’s the same one used for the 2019 African Games and 2023 GSSE, which doesn’t instill me with a lot of confidence. I think this is the lower end/basic model offered by Atos, at least that’s my assumption given how it’s been used in the past.
  17. and still don’t have anything outside of sailing, but I’d imagine they’ll have a few entries in athletics and swimming.
  18. has yet to qualify anyone outside of Roban in the men’s 800m, so they may give a challenge for smallest delegation. have yet to qualify anyone as far as I know. Also, are the full triathlon quotas available elsewhere. I don’t remember seeing those @intoronto
  19. I definitely think it’s incomplete. Honestly, it’s hard to know who’s attending now given all the withdrawals over safety and venue preparedness concerns.
  20. Any additional quotas would be allocated based on the results of the 2024 World Championships. It’s strictly first place or nothing for continental championships.
  21. Spectators really seem worse this year than in year’s prior. ACO needs to do something to protect riders and fans alike.
  22. Good experience before a potential venture into the Asian Games though.
  23. The only proper way to ride The Tour. Edit: @De_Gambassi this is what happens when I post clips before reading the thread for the day. Apologies.
