  1. All webcams on the north of the Bahamas have gone down, meaning one can assume power is out. It's now a matter of surviving for those unfortunate enough to not have been able to evacuate, and a matter of waiting for the rest until any sort of contact is possible.
  2. I think like in many countries it's a 'wave' kind of thing: there's always been times in which it has been great, and times in which it has been mediocre, and then great again. Now it's on the rise in certain sports and at some point it'll go down again and then up and so on
  3. Wow, the eight That was a strong race from them
  4. Damn, one single point more for Dominican Republic and Turkey (or one less for their opponents) and I'd have two more perfect scores
  5. Finally decided to take a look at the (in)famous neighbours
  6. There it is, as expected Dorian has been upgraded to category 5, the strongest one. Northern part of the Bahamas about to be hit by 250 km/h winds.
  7. Well, giving everyone a Williams would work just as fine to be fair, as long as it's the same car, no matter how shitty or great it is But no, I'm not a fan at all of even thinking about having something like F1 in the Olympics. Apart from it being a totally motorized sport, F1 simply doesn't need it. It's not like people are thinking "Sigh...I wish we had an Olympic champion", like might be the case with other sports.
  8. And with that bronze, I believe this is the most succesful WCh ever for the Netherlands
  9. Apparently they normally count ippons, but in this championship they draw a weight class to see who will fight a 7th and deciding match.
  10. Is that gonna be on ZDF in a bit, or is the SPORTextra something else?
  11. Because that's a tiny bit too dependent on the car.
  12. Great Abaco Island is about to get screwed big time...really, really hope everyone has gotten out of there. That's (sustained!) wind speeds of 240 km/h and more.. Florida still projected to be in big trouble, especially if the hurricane indeed slows down after the Bahamas, that'd be terrible.
  13. Reserve Laila Youssifou takes a (provisional) Olympic ticket
  14. Kabaddi, canoe polo, polo, wushu, teqball (?), acrobatics, chess, sepaktakraw....come on I mean, I really really like some of those sports and love watching it (kabaddi and sepaktakraw mostly, canoe polo is high on my list too), but there's no way they should be Olympic...at all. Who knows, maybe in 50 years when they've grown bigger..they are perfect for regional/continental Games
  15. And another provisional Olympic quota for the Dutch fleet, this time in men's double sculls. Too bad commentators aren't really in the known and think they can now go to the Olympics, Martin Haven (bobsleigh/skeleton) always knows everything
  16. Explanation: "Met de billen bloot gaan" literally does indeed mean "Showing/exposing your buttocks", however in context it's the equivalent of something like "putting your cards on the table"
  17. Always by gold medals. Every medal counts, but in the end the gold is what it's really all about.
  18. I'd think I was a god if I beat USA
  19. Geraghty-Moats won't win today, the only way to beat her is by DQ'ing her http://medias1.fis-ski.com/pdf/2020/NK/4109/2020NK4109RL.pdf Yesterday she started 44 seconds behind and in only 5km on rollerskis she overtook everyone in front and won by half a minute
  20. The way Osaka dealt with Gauff after their match
  21. Current models have shifted to category 4 - nearly 5 - and potentially riding exactly up the entire coastline of Florida, except for the most southern part. And yeah, the (northern part of) the Bahamas is not where one wants to be now.
  22. And once again models have made a bit of a shift. I hope everyone in Florida who is able to evacuate has made the right decision and either evacuated or is about to leave, this thing is gonna hit hard and nobody even knows yet where that'll be. Staying is the equivalent of putting yourself (and others, such as rescuers later on) in danger.. It's always sad and scary to realize that, of all people there right now, some of them won't be alive anymore within a few days because of this big thing that's on the way.
  23. Well I'm hoping staying is the right choice for you...personally I'd at least have my most valuable stuff (as in, irreplaceable) packed in the car in watertight stuff or something, ready to go as soon as the forecast takes a somewhat negative turn.
  24. Hermida: "A Norwegian...can you pronounce that name?" Commentator: "Haegstad." Hermida: "Oh."
