    With what we pay for regular TV we could maybe take one more subscription on some streaming service. Which wouldn't be a great idea, because unlike you we do actually watch quite some TV.

    And it's getting more and more divided. Not everyone has the financial options to take 3, 4, 5 and before you know it 10 subscriptions.

    But GOT ends with the Great War. GOT began 20 years or so after Robert's Rebellion, which was the end of the Targaryen dynasty and so the logical end for this prequel.

    Not sure if literally only blows counting is such a good thing (so someone with 50 relatively light blows would beat someone with 25 really hard blows, even if the latter would be the more dominant one because of his heavy hitting).

    But at least in (recurve) archery you can see the athletes are doing something

    I've never really watched 300m rifle shooting, but I can imagine there you actually feel like you see them shooting? In that short distance air rifle stuff you just see them pick their rifle, not move at all, wait for a while until you hear 'tick' and that's it. At least to me it looks so insanely boring

    The GoT prequel that was supposed to go thousands of years back has been cancelled suddenly. 'House of Dragons' about the Targaryans has been confirmed though. I wonder how far back it goes, hopefully to before the Doom of Valyria.

    RIP Tour of California It was always fun to watch a handful of world class riders fight with a whole bunch of local heroes while being ready to sleep. Tradition, if you will.

    I find it interesting how the first mention of some Danish town is in some Arab cartographer's work

    That's sort of what we did in 2001: drive to Denmark, stay there for a day or two to see Legoland and then drove up north and took a ferry to go to Norway and Sweden for two weeks

    Saw it a few days ago, but I wouldn't exactly call it news It's just continuing how it's been since years and years and years, NOS losing the rights to broadcast the international speed skating (World Cups are - mostly - shown on their live streams instead of TV btw) is just not gonna happen anytime soon.

    I know, but why on earth would I connect ESP player to my TV when I can watch the exact same thing - without the 30 second or so delay you have with internet streams - on the actual Eurosport TV channel? Apart from the fact I usually divide my biathlon watching 50/50 or so between Eurosport and German TV

    But going all "They kicked out shooting to mess with India!" sounds like a big overestimation of how important those other nations find India. Like, if they kick speed skating out of the Olympics I'm really not going to presume the Netherlands is so important they do it to mess with us
