  1. What kind of farce is it to have 7 (!) athletes from the same country compete in one event? https://www.pyeongchang2018.com/en/game-time/results/PWG2018/en/biathlon/results-men-s-7-5km-visually-impaired-fnl-000100-.htm
  2. Which moron thought it was a good idea to put the events on YouTube run by run? Now I want to watch without knowing the results yet (easy if they just put up a video of the entire event), but to do so, one has to take some steps: 1. Have the page with the schedule ready the day before (otherwise it shows the medalists, highly annoying) 2. Open the event in a new tab (otherwise if you click 'previous', you see the medalists) 3. Cover half the screen with your hand so you don't see the results 4. Work yourself to the start list PDF 5. Go to IPC's YouTube channel and click on Videos 6. Check the start list and click on the videos in the correct order
  3. Beune has now pushed Claudia Pechstein out of the 1500m all-time top-25 She's 24th, right in front of Maki Tabata
  4. Wow, the women's 1500m world junior record was 1:55.14 since 10 years (Monday would be the 10-year anniversary of that record), by Marrit Leenstra....now Joy Beune went 1:54.21
  5. 19-year old Jakub Klembara broke the Slovak national record by 0,04 seconds in the men's 500m, @hckosice http://speedskatingresults.com/live/index.php?p=2&e=1&r=2
  6. Born and raised in indoor halls (unlike Wüst who used to train outside quite a lot), she already said she was not expecting a lot from this 'natural ice'
  7. It's raining a bit stronger now, which is actually good for the ice.
  8. I think Hirschbichler was the main chance for that
  9. This is gonna be a fun 3k for Hirschbichler
  10. Congratulations on your world title, Takagi
  11. 39.01 for Takagi (and a 10.57 opening!!), wow
  12. Here we go, after 125 years By the way, the winner back then, Jaap Eden, is the person after whom the trophy for the Dutch male athlete of the year is named
  13. She did? Didn't hear one single mention about that on TV (Dutch Eurosport in the morning, German TV in the afternoon)
  14. It'll most likely rain all evening today This is gonna be fun
  15. This made me think: are there 2016 Olympians who are known to have passed away since then? I remember it didn't take very long before at least 10 London Olympians died..
  16. Yeah, Bertens and her three wins this year are a force to be reckoned with
  17. After almost 5 years (well, 8 if you only count the more 'serious' high-level stuff), 40-year old Tadec Valjavec made a comeback https://www.procyclingstats.com/race/istarsko-proljece-istrian-spring-trophy/2018/prologue The ancestor of Louis Meintjes, as in, doing nothing but always hanging in the last wheels to be dragged to a 9th place
  18. And has a good chance of playing Venus in round 3
  19. The Guerrero case is from December
  20. Innsbruck was dead a while, but the new talk for Austria is Graz/Schladming without a public vote.
  21. There are only two available (the ones per distance don't really count), the chance is not that small this time
  22. 54 severed hands found in Siberia.. http://siberiantimes.com/other/others/news/shocking-new-twist-in-macabre-case-of-54-severed-hands-washed-up-on-amur-river-island/ Authorities have their hands full with this investigation, one wonders if some punishments might have gotten out of hand. More likely suggestion is apparently that it's the handiwork from a forensic lab.
  23. Well, whoever thought of that system wasn't the brightest of his/her class. They can tell me all they want, but a world where alpine skiing and ski jumping are seen as one sport, but cross-country skiing and biathlon are not, is not a world where things make any sort of sense.
