Artistic Gymnastics FIG World Championships 2023

Are you sure? It looks like these 3 quotas are given to NOC in general and not by name. -
I wrote several weeks ago that Poland will be a real candidate to host Olympic games ) Hope this will come true but will not cost too much.

Russia-Ukraine Crisis Consequences in Sports
avlar replied to Totallympics's topic in Totallympics Mixed Zone
The international reaction was totally awful in 1974. Politicians are able to find different ways if they do not want to react properly. In that case they used the fact that the territories were not annexed but a puppet-state was established. We had just the same situation at Donbas in 2014. Two puppet states were established and no proper reaction from the UN and e.t.c. In 2014 Russians quickly annexed the Crimea, but it passed through a puppet-state stage too. And a so-called "referendum" to calm down the UN and e t.c. But in 2022 Russia (the UN Security Council permanent member) started the war as a a full-scale unprovoked invasion to annex internationally recognized territories of the independent state. They did not leave a chance for diplomats to say: "oр, we are so disturbed - so we will sanction... these newly created puppet-states" (like "DNR", "LNR"). The territories were annexed so they had only two options: keep it quiet or sanction russia. And I think the International Community used the second option mostly because Ukraine forced russians to fail even with that initial international help. I feel strongly that the defeat of russia will have global consequences. And it will help not only to change the IOC but also to restore justice for another states. Because a lot of local dictatorships use global geopolitics to avoid of proper consequences for their own crimes. By the way, is "Northern Cyprus" still strictly isolated in sport? -
So it looks like a matter of quality of the team. Their coach expected much more by the way and was very surprised. It will be better to get compensation for them )
-
What is your oppinion on russian GR perfomance? They got zero "quotas" in GR and WW. And these results came just after the strange explanations from UWW on participation of russian wrestlers here. At the same time russain government announced that they will definitely pay compensation (up to 500 000 RUR) fro those who will miss the Games and they doubt they will pay somenting to those who will go to the games under the white flag. So the question: their result is a matter of quliaty or a matter of motivation?

I wrote that Semen Novikov worth to have attention He is one of the most talanted Ukrainian wrestler of this generation, but his problem was the same category with Zhan Belenyuk. Novikov wanted to wrestle in Tokio for Ukraine, but Belenyuk was selected (and he proved the choice was excellent - with his Olympic gold). Semen did not take it easy and leaved Ukraine for Bulgaria. Now you have a brilliant wrestler who will definitely will be a medal contender in Paris. Hope they both will win medals - Belenyuk and Novikov.

Fairly, she has got a quota since AIN is ahead. And AIN is eneligible to compete here at all. Your NOC has to pressure and demand this quota via reallocation in October.
-
Good idea. But I fear sometimes if will be almost impossible to give a fair passive call.
-
They will not change the rules, I think - that passivity calls is great way to influence the results. Of course, they could establish compulsory parter rule for both wrestlers. So both of them will have attempts.

Road Cycling UEC European Championships 2023

Thank you very much for the calculations. Your analysis is really superb! And it looks very realistic. So our only real chance if #20 in the Rankings marked as *** will not be allowed to obtain quotas by the 17th of October. -
Road Cycling UEC European Championships 2023

Thank you! We are 21st in Women Rankings. And it means 1 quota, while 20th place gives 2 quotas. And the 20th place is occupied by some "***" nation. 77 points is the difference. I wonder if it reachable. https://dataride.uci.ch/iframe/RankingDetails/34?disciplineId=10&groupId=2&momentId=168062&disciplineSeasonId=414&rankingTypeId=3&categoryId=23&raceTypeId=0 -

Is it possible to win points to UCI Nation Ranking and improve position to get more Olympic quotas? -
No great results for us too - we still have the only chance for quota in WW.

I have one more evidence. UWW explained Sidakov, Sadulaev and Uguev presence despite of that pro-war meeting: “For those three champions, it could not be concluded to the same level of certainty that they actively and personally support the war and the policy of their government,” said United World Wrestling, which is based in Lausanne, Switzerland. “From further information received during this process, it also appeared that these athletes are pressured, and their participation in certain events is not (of) their own will.” https://apnews.com/article/wrestling-worlds-russian-paris-olympics-6cd6d8151996b985f067f261398f2f00 I think reallocation is obvious )
-
Yes, she is injured. This World Champ is very difficult for us. Before Tokio we got 4 quotas at the WCh in total. And then added 6 more. I hope we still be able to match the WCh result, but it will not be so easy.

The story is not so simple. Let me show the next example from wrestling - since we are in wrestling topic. Translation of the text from the original article in russian. The story is from russian media "The Russian junior Greco-Roman wrestling team continues to prepare for the upcoming competitions. Currently the team is in Alushta at the Krymsky base, where they are preparing for the world championship, which will be held from August 14 to 20 in Poland." https://www.crimeansport.ru/interview/13693/ Are they victims? Do they declare support to war? But they are clearly getting benefits from the outcomes and enjoying in training camp at the occupied Ukrainian territories. And the UWW allow them to compete. Would you allow them to compete too?

"Small details" makes the difference.

I understand your position. But we (Ukrainians) do not trust these "independent panels" which produce INAs. It is not a question of politics and politicians. It does not look like Mamiashvilis says "they did not allow that Ukrainian boy to shake hands". A lot of people were killed or wounded by russians in Ukraine. Almost everybody has some relative or friend on the list. And the athletes are not the exceptions. Russians killed mother of Katia Tabashnik (high jumper, Diamiond league participant) in Khrkiv in her own flat. Russians killed Dmytro Tymchik`s (national football team) brother. Russians killed Dmytro Riznyk`s (Shaktar Donetsk, goalkeeper) brother. Father of Vika Onoprienko (R. Gymnastics) have not seen her daughter for 9 months fighting for Ukraine. Olga`s Kharlan teammate`s father (Olena Khomrova, Olympic champion) died as results of Russian bombardment in Mykolaiv. And after that people like Lalovic allow z-fans like Musa Evloev to compete???? They cannont guarantee fair INAs so it must be a blanket ban. Equality as argument? Ukrainian athletes have trainings in destoyed objects, they have to travel much more longer that other participants to reach the venues of competitions, and of course they are much harder to concentrate at the events. P.S. And one more thing. The IOC is much more focused on getting russians to the games. And they are crying "they are losing quotas" and getting help from federations to obtain them despite of the rules. But nobody cares how many quotas lost Ukraine due to the war and we did not ask for any privilges. It is almost miracle that we have 52 places in the Olympic team already.
-
It is just Karma ) I wonder if he will fight tpmorrow. It is great disappointment for your guy - he deserved this quota. And if UWW reallocates this quota they will not restore chances of the wrestlers who lost to this AIN in the 1/4 and earlier. That makes all the tournament quite unfair.
-
Russians said Sadulaev lost due to the injury. Is it so?
-
I propose to establish special totallympics award )) "Awful and not user friendly award ". It may look like Oscar but with Lalovic`s face )
-
Ok, I will share some photos we (Ukraine) presented to the UWW "independent panel". All our arguments were rejected by UWW. https://riamediabank.ru/media/8143714.html https://sport-teams.ru/news/v-luzhnikah-prohodit-konczert-po-sluchayu-dnya-vossoedineniya-kryma-s-rossiej Musa Evloev with Z at the first picture is especially great. And 3 freestyle heroes at the same pro-war Z-meeting listening to Putin`s speach.
