Why Azerbaïdjan has not been banned by any sport federation ? Lack of twitter outrage ? ...
Or lack of a leader who seriously said to the whole world, in 2022: this country doesn't exist, it's ours, now we invade and anyone intervening will get his country nuked?

Or maybe the Western countries should realize that they might be wrong this time if the Court or FIFA says that Russia can't be banned legally. Just because Russia broke international law and invaded a country, it doesn't mean that Western countries can now be free to break rules elsewhere. Play by the rules, beat the Russians on the field instead of fundamentally breaking the world of sports.
So POL and CZE are among the Western countries on Sundays, nice to know because I always forget on which days they are Eastern, Central and Western.

Your link is an article from 3 days ago, SWIFT related and other harder sanctions weren't included in those "preliminary" sanctions

They had to be in Sochi on Thursday morning, so of course everyone was already in Sochi by Wednesday, it's not like they could predict the future. And the IOC advice came yesterday, I can't see how pulling out this morning can be hypocrisy this time.
Anyway, Italian federation apparently let the fencers choose for today but pulled out of the team event.
And then almost everyone retired anyway, useless mess, any IF with a non Russian president would have cancelled it yesterday evening following the IOC comments

SUI and EST all DNF. GER Ndolo is still competing, ITA Ferrari DNF while most of their compatriots took the opposite decision, looks like it was left for everyone to decide for herself in those federations.

Sanctions or not, I think Putin will laugh at them. He has made it clear that he considers at least all Ancient Rus territory, and likely more, as Russian by right...he keep testing what the limit is and will not stop at this, he has the privilege of being the mad reckless driver who won't ever touch the brakes, and leave it to others the reponsibilty of avoiding massive incidents, considering them weak in the process.

European Union should act united against the Russian Aggression. Let's hope in a strong sanctions portfolio.
Which will results in mainly fucking ourselves up since we need Russian gas. Russians seem to support this a lot, so they will also drink their daily dose of bad West narrative and keep supporting the beloved leader even if in worse living condition.

another proof ,all european users in this forum are sleeping , they don't care about this war only tisc let's enjoy music
That's because there is no war, it's only lies by the Western media. Putin is a great and pacific leader, not like the bad Western imperialist. It's just that Ukraine never esisted a real country of course, only as a Western puppet. And what about Kosovo recognized by the West yadda yadda.

This placing tables make my disappointment for Italy having only 2 wins bigger...after the Big 5 (NOR, GER, RUS, USA, CAN) we are comparable (if not better), as placements and multidisciplinarity, to every Tier 2 nation...yet we always end up, for one reason or another, winning less than all of them.

Have the commentators always received the speech "printed out" beforehand? I only noticed this time- opening and closing- because, having no clue about the language, they finish translating well before the end of the speech by the Chinese guy.

unlucky draw
it's not a draw - Nations Cup standing determined the table.

Please, BBC roasted Valieva right over. I wonder what will they do now when there are no medals to be taken away in the ladies event? Such a good story all wasted. Russia will come with a new wave of skaters for Cortina and I don't think USA or Japan keeps up with the talent depth.
if it's true that they will raise the minimum age to compete, I guess the current Russian school might have some difficulties - they'll need to find girls who grow much later.

How about making a poll at the end of the games about which athletes will repeat their gold in 2026/which athletes are most likely to repeat their gold in 2026?
good idea - also still in time to make a similar poll for Tokyo - Paris

Well the biggest drama finished. Let's focus on back to Uygur, Hong Kong, Taiwan Tibet, Air pollution, fake snow, Peng Shuai and such. Hope I don't miss anything related to the Beijing 2022.
China winning fair and square in short track, and the overall medal table as well.

All possible standings after round robin - it's between NOR and USA due to head to head results
