  2. *I think it's difficult to get this one right, as the guy is suspended for doping
  3. I mean that forcing a young talent like him to retire not to compromise his mental health because he feels that he's not being treated like he deserves by an institution that's supposed to protect their "assets" rather than getting them so uncomfortable is absolutely an awful story (I didn't even read the whole article, I was just thinking of this situation in general terms)
  4. and the disaster continues... both the women and men's teams (the boys are the reigning champions) in Kumite have already been eliminated in the early rounds (even if the men could still enter the repechage for bronze if make it through to the GMM -currently they are playing their semifinal match vs )
  5. I think so, as they've already been reinstated
  6. some details (awful story) https://www.eurosport.com/alpine-skiing/solden/2023-2024/lucas-braathen-norwegian-world-cup-slalom-champion-announces-retirement-from-skiing-aged-23_sto9855135/story.shtml
  7. yeah, I know all the drama behind Oscar's situation...it was just to remark how he represents a true exception for Today's standard I'm really a fan of him and I hope he can somehow get the chance to win an Olympic medal
  8. naaa, the "judogi" is the full set of jacket, pants and belt (and for the women, the white t-shirt under the jacket is also mandatory)
  9. Kata* is just like watching Rhythmic Gymnastics and Artistic Swimming...it goes from boring to farcical...it's not even a sport, just entertainment...and not the kind I usually like *and it's the same for all the Martial Arts, not only in Karate
  10. except for our Cuban friend, Oscar Pino Hinds OK, in Freestyle he only won medals at Panamerican level, but still...it was a great achievement, I think
  11. yeah, but this isn't the question they used to have the same weight classes for Freestyle and Greco-Roman Wrestling until a few years ago (2012, if I remember correctly), but then a brilliant mind came up with the decision to have different weight in the 2 disciplines, as if it would make any difference basically, they used the excusation that GR is more a European affair and the average weight of European people is heavier than for instance the average Asians, where most Freestyle Nations come from even if it's true that FR is more widely spread outside Europe than GR, I still think it's just cosmetics and also a mess that might cause problems to the occasional fans to identify the categories of this sport however, now it's quite some time (since Rio 2016 at the Olympic Games) that we have this difference and I don't think we'll get back to the old situation
  12. dominated the tournament with 4 gold medals (3 among the men, 1 in the women's division), followed by with 3 gold medals, thanks to our amazing girls and by with 2 gold medals (also all of them among the women) and almost swept the women's division, taking combined 5 gold medals out of 7 events great final day also for with 1 gold and 1 silver medal (both in the men's division)
  13. Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Results - Day #3 Men's 90Kg Gold: Nemanja Majdov Silver: Tristani Mosakhlishvili Bronze: Giorgi Jabniashvili & Krisztian Toth Men's 100Kg Gold: Arman Adamian Silver: Aleksandar Kukolj Bronze: Aaron Fara & Shady Elnahas Men's +100Kg Gold: Inal Tasoev Silver: Erik Abramov Bronze: Tamerlan Bashaev & Jelle Snippe Women's 78Kg Gold: Alice Bellandi Silver: Fanny Estelle Posvite Bronze: Anna-Maria Wagner & Aline Boehm Women's +78Kg Gold: Rochele Nunes Silver: Kamila Berlikash Bronze: Elis Startseva & Lea Fontaine
  14. total disaster for the defending champions basically already abdicated Game #25, humiliated by 8 wickets only scored 156 before they went all out in just 33.2 overs then, it was almost a joke for to close down the match, as they scored 160 runs givin'up only 2 wickets in only 25.4 overs game details https://www.cricketworldcup.com/match/102741 standings after gameday #5 https://www.cricketworldcup.com/standings Tomorrow, gameday #6 begins with red hot facing at 10.30 a.m. CET in Chennai
  15. One GMM and one BMM for but these team events are useless to me (especially Kata) I just don't feel the same enthusiasm as for the Kumite events
  16. Day #3 Medal Matches Women's Team Kata Gold Medal Match: Japan vs Italy Bronze Medal Match #1: Morocco vs Spain Bronze Medal Match #2: Egypt vs Turkiye Men's Team Kata Gold Medal Match: Japan vs Turkiye Bronze Medal Match #1: Italy vs Spain Bronze Medal Match #2: Kuwait vs France
  17. Oriane Bertone wins the qualification round ahead of Laura Rogora (who was surprisingly good in the Boulder section), thanks also to a very easy Lead section, where 7 girls topped the wall (and only 4 of them can be considered Lead specialists) 3rd was Stasa Gejo Tomorrow the men start their competition with their qualification round
  18. Game #24, destroyed by 309 runs unworthy fool by the they gave up 399/8 in 50 overs in the 1st inning and then they just stayed in the locker room in the 2nd, going 90/all out in only 21 overs, one of the worst performances in the recent history of the CWC (the worst in this CWC) game details https://www.cricketworldcup.com/match/102749 Tomorrow, the 5th gameday ends with game #25, when faces at 10.30 a.m. CET in Bengaluru
  19. youtube, WKF official page (at least for the prelims, for the finals you have to check their website, there's a list of broadcasters by Country)
  20. it's close between the top contenders, very close (and there's always the chance of a false start that kills you when you don't expect) I think anything can happen between and (maybe even ) in the women's event, and it's even less predictable in the men's division (though and are the main favourite, but with many more contenders)
  21. not a good day for early losses for the girls and the -73kg guys, 7th and 5th place in the -81kg, but if Gamba's 7th is a promising result for a youngster, Esposito's 5th is a missed chance to solidify his place in the OQR (which is far from safe at the moment)
  22. Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Results - Day #2 Men's 73Kg Gold: Shakram Ahadov Silver: Akil Gjakova Bronze: Makhmadbek Makhmadbekov & Rashid Mammadaliyev Men's 81Kg Gold: David Karapetyan Silver: Frank De Wit Bronze: Wachid Borchashvili & Nugzari Tatalashvili Women's 63Kg Gold: Catherine Beauchemin-Pinard Silver: Tang Jing Bronze: Cristina Cabana Perez & Lubjana Piovesana Women's 70Kg Gold: Madina Taimazova Silver: Ida Eriksson Bronze: Aoife Coughlan & Hilde Jager
  23. from an perspective, just another disappointing day Only Erminia Perfetto surprisingly reached the GMM, but all the other main contenders failed like their teammates yesterday and I won't blame the awful refereeing and the messy organization for that, as also the guys who competed at the World Combat Games (some of them should have been here, actually) just flopped badly we had a decent (but not extraordinary) season in the K1PL and Serie A tournaments, but when it really mattered, it's really an epic fail
  24. Day #2 Medal Matches Women's Individual Kumite, -50kg Gold Medal Match: Erminia Perfetto vs Moldir Zhangbyrbay Bronze Medal Match #1: Li Ranran vs Reem Ahmed Salama Bronze Medal Match #2: Yorgelis Salazar Camacho vs Aika Okazaki Women's Individual Kumite, -55kg Gold Medal Match: Tuba Yakan vs Ivet Goranova Bronze Medal Match #1: Barbara Perez vs Sevinch Rakhimova Bronze Medal Match #2: Anzhelika Terliuga vs Fateme Saadati Women's Individual Kumite, -61kg Gold Medal Match: Gong Li vs Fatma Naz Yenen Bronze Medal Match #1: Laura Sivert vs Hoang Thi My Tam Bronze Medal Match #2: Noursin Alì vs Wafa Mahjoub Men's Individual Kumite, -60kg Gold Medal Match: Kaisar Alpysbay vs Christos-Stefanos Xenos Bronze Medal Match #1: Angelo Crescenzo vs Dominik Imrich Bronze Medal Match #2: Eray Samdan vs Amr Alaa Aboukora Men's Individual Kumite, -67kg Gold Medal Match: Steven Da Costa vs Nenad Dulovic Bronze Medal Match #1: Didar Amirali vs Afeef Ghaith Bronze Medal Match #2: Muhammed Oezdemir vs Fahad Alkhathami Men's Individual Kumite, -75kg Gold Medal Match: Karoly Gabor Harspataki vs Mamduh Abdelaziz Abdalla Bronze Medal Match #1: Hamza Turulja vs Ernest Sharafutdinov Bronze Medal Match #2: Andrii Zaplitnyi vs Thomas Scott
  25. yeah, it's really a disaster I don't know how they pretend to become a core sport at the Olympic Games (interview by Davide Benetello just yesterday on the Italian media) with such kind of a mess
