I missed this news. It will become like the table tennis?
BWF has been conducting trials about a possible switch to 11x5 from the present 21x3 format for quite some time. I remember there were a number of events in the past two years also which were played using 11x5 format. But, as of today, 21x3 is the main format which will be used in all the major tournaments.

On popular demand, India will take part in the contest. (Taking out time to listen and rate all the entries will still be difficult, hopefully, I would be able to find the required time).
Since, I haven't had any chance to think about the entry, I am simply selecting one of my all time favourites, a song which moves me to tears everytime I listen to it.
Song : Luka Chuppi
Music : A.R. Rehman
Lyrics : Prasoon Joshi
Singers : Lata Mangeshkar, A.R. RehmanThis is the version which was used in the movie, you can listen to the full version with one of the best 'jugalbandis' here
Lyrics:
Luka Chuppi Bahut Huyi
Saamne Aa Ja Na
Kahan Kahan Dhundha Tujhe
Thak Gayi Hai Ab Teri Maa(It's enough of hide and seek, come in front of me
Your mom is tired looking for you up and down)Aaja Saanjh Hui Mujhe Teri Fikar
Dhundhla Gayi Dekh Meri Nazar Aa Ja Na
Aaja Saanjh Hui Mujhe Teri Fikar
Dhundhla Gayi Dekh Meri Nazar Aa Ja Na(It's been evening and I am worried about you
Come dear, my eyes became blurred)x2Kya Batau Maa Kaha Hu Mai
Yahan Udne Ko Mere Khula Aasmaan Hai
Tere Kisso Jaisa Bhola Salona
Jahan Hai Yahan Sapno Vala
Meri Patang Ho Befikar Udd Rahi Hai Maa
Dor Koi Lute Nahi Beech Se Kaate Na(Mom, what I can tell about where I am
Here I got open sky to fly
Innocent, like your stories, here the world is beautiful
Mom, here my kite of dreams is soaring high without any worries
The string is not stolen, not cut in middle)Aaja Saanjh Hui Mujhe Teri Fikar
Dhundhla Gayi Dekh Meri Nazar Aa Ja Na(It's been evening and I am worried about you
Come dear, my eyes became blurred)Teri Raah Takey Aankhiya
Jaane Kaisa Kaisa Hoye Jiya
Teri Raah Takey Aankhiya
Jaane Kaisa Kaisa Hoye Jiya(My eyes are watching the way expecting you
Don't know what my heart feels now)x2Dhire Dhire Aangan Utre Andhera, Mere Deep Kaha
Dhalke Suraj Karey Ishara Chanda Tu Hai Kahan
Mere Chanda Tu Hai Kahan(Slowly darkness is growing into my courtyard, where is my lamp ( kid )
The setting sun gives sign to me, where are you my moon
My dear son where are you..)
Luka Chuppi Bahut Huyi Saamne Aa Ja Na
Kahan Kahan Dhundha Tujhe Thak Gayi Hai Ab Teri Maa(It's enough of hide and seek, come in front of me
Your mom is tired looking for you up and down)Aaja Saanjh Hui Mujhe Teri Fikar
Dhundhla Gayi Dekh Meri Nazar Aa Ja Na
Aaja Saanjh Hui Mujhe Teri Fikar
Dhundhla Gayi Dekh Meri Nazar Aa Ja Na(It's been evening and I am worried about you
Come dear, my eyes became blurred)x2Kaise Tujhko Dikhau Yaha Hai Kya
Maine Jharne Se Pani Maa Tod Ke Piya Hai
Guchcha Guchcha Kai Khwaabon Ka Uchal Ke Chua Hai
Chaya Liya Bhali Dhoop Yahan Hai
Naya Naya Sa Hai Roop Yahan
Yahan Sab Kuch Hai Maa Phir Bhi
Lage Bin Tere Mujhko Akela(How can I show you what is here
I have drunk water from the waterfall
I jumped and touched many bundles of my dreams
Here, there is sun and shade
This place is very new and fresh

4th part is out... Bigger names inclued Rafel Nadal, Mo Farah and Laszlo Cseh
Majority of these are injury related exceptions. Nothing scandalous as far as I can see.

Wang Yihan is already retired, Li Xuerui is still injured plus I heard somewhere that Wang Shixian will attend university. Chinese youngsters need to step up, the only one I knew is He Bingjiao.
I really feel sorry for Wang Shixian. Missing out on second Olympics in a row despite being in top 10 in World must be heart breaking.
Apart from He Bingjiao, Sun Yu is also very good and still young.

ur assessment is spot on...but the same Russian hackers have stated that there are more exposes to follow....
So, the issue is far from over
Plus, the same group of hackers have stated that they have lots of data to show how doping is rampant even in the US..
So, lets expect fireworks
Expecting fireworks: Yes
Expecting medals: No

Does it mean that Sania Mirza & Rohan Bopanna pair from Tennis and Dipa Karmakar from Gymnast will be awarded Bronze ? Just Curious .. Who will prove that they have take drugs..
No, Simone Biles and Venus Williams are not going to be stripped of their medals. As Simone said, she had prior permission from WADA to take her medication (containing banned substance) due to her condition (ADHD). In theory at least, these exemptions are available to any athlete who can prove that s/he has an underlying condition and needs medication for that. Also, I hope, they need to show that other medications (without the banned substance) can't work. This exemption could be time bound (when an athlete is recovering from surgery/injury) or long term (I am assuming that Biles has a long term exemption). Legally speaking, I think, they have broken no law and hence, there is no chance of ban or stripping of medals.

Next up is....
- Glasgow tournament (only for men), where the home team should win. Second quota looks open between and . Completes the field for which just participation will be the achievement.
- Accra tournaments for african teams (men and women)... where men and women should take the only place in round 2.
- Antalya tournament (only men) in which should destroy the competition, second place and round 2 quota will be fought between and curious debutant which I suspect will maybe have some pakistani/indian/malaysian reinforcements.
Qualifiers for Round 2:
Glasgow: Surprisingly won the tournament. won the other quota.
Accra: won quotas in both the men and women tournaments.
Antalya: won the tournament. came second. At present Wiki is showing the tournament as having only one Round 2 quota but I think it is a mistake and there should be 2 quotas for this tournament.

Really fail to understand how journos are STILL given so much importance in India when its clear to all that most of them know nothing about anything and just are looking for ways to shout their lungs out and create controversy...not just in sports but in everything...
Fully agree about everything except "clear to all". Journalists still hold so much importance because a large number of people don't think journalists are useless. Moreover, they don't have the means/desire/knowledge to depend on other sources for information. You know how hard it is to find information about sports even for us. Federations know that if they can control media, they can escape scrutiny for another 4 years.

Good to see your optimism but the way I see it it is all talk and no substance. Failure never wakes up the authorities in India, its only success which makes them come running for their photo-ops and reflected glory...
Also, all olympic plans are always "long term". Modi declared forming a task force for next 3 olympics - what happens if he loses elections?? Do you think that task force will remain unaffected ??? Soon, authorities will start saying that 2020 is too close and we need to focus on 2024 - then after 2020, they'll either be out of power or start saying we need to focus on 2028 !!! Even NRAI's "post-mortem" seems aimed at increasing their own influence (no personal coaches, no individual separate foreign training) as opposed to actually making improvements...
Earlier, everyone used to say we need world class foreign coaches. So authorities got the cheapest, most dope-tainted coaches available and observers became happy as they had white skin. Now, with Sindhu, Sakshi and Dipa all having Indian coaches, the foreigners will be shown the door and we'll return to the old outdated Indian coaching manuals...
Majority of the "review" is just PR exercise. Just look at the composition of Bindra led committee formed by NRAI to look into what went wrong. Apart from Bindra, who will recuse himself from a lot of things as he has a clear conflict of interest as he was part of team, rest of the team is full of journalists.

Yesterday was a bad day for us in Baku as both teams lost in Chess Olympiad.

By the way, is anyone here following the chess olympiad ??
The Indian men are doing absolutely awesome. They are 1 of only 3 teams to have won all 5 of their matches so far. Yesterday, Harikrishna defeated a higher-rated Azebaijani (home favorite and with a record of 4 wins out of 4 till then, also now in top-10 of the world) with BLACK pieces.
Then, the new star Vidit Gujrathi doubled the joy by repeating the same - defeating a higher rated home player with a 4/4 record so far, again with BLACK pieces. Vidit so far is one of only 4 players (out of the 1000+ competing at the Olympiad) who has won all his 5 games.
India eventually won the match 3-1 (India is seeded 9th, Azerbaijan 4th).
Today is rest day. Tomorrow, India face Netherlands, also 5/5 (third 5/5 team is Ukraine) with Harikrishna (2752) facing Anish Giri (2755) on the top board.
The women unfortunately haven't fared so well. After starting with 3 wins, they have had to settle for draws against lower-rate Israel and Vietnam. They face Latvia tomorrow.
You can follow on www.bakuchessolympiad.com and www.chess24.com
We have defeated Netherlands as well and now are the sole leader with 12 points.

I am particularly surprised by Harika's performance. She is much better than this.
Excellent start by the Men's team.

Doesn't matter. Even if top 5 Spaniards pull out, we still won't have a chance.

Zero (correct, 0) Indian media people have gone to Rio to cover the Games and their athletes, that's so sad for the athletes, like a big "f*ck you, we don't give a damn"
http://www.parasport-news.com/indian-media-absent-from-rio-games/11100/
Actually, Paralympic athletes are lucky. Indian sports journalists are bunch of buffoons who would have asked useless and demoralising questions. They have zero interest and knowledge about sports.
But, once an Indian athlete wins a medal, these same media persons will try to guilt the rest of the nation for not paying enough attention to sports.

Some Indian news agencies are claiming that Toghrul Asgarov has also failed dope test from London. I am yet to find any non-Indian source for this and hence, it could be all rubbish, but it does raise a challenging hypothetical. Asgarov won Gold in London while Kudukhov won Silver. Yogeshwar and Scott won Bronze. Now, there are reports about both Gold and Silver medallists failing dope test, so in that case what would be the medal re-distribution? When one of the finalists fails dope test, it is simple. Bronze medallist who lost to doped wrestler gets upgraded to Silver and the wrestler who lost to upgraded wrestler in Bronze medal match gets Bronze. But, what happens when both finalist are disqualified? 2 silvers and 2 bronze? Or is there some tiebreak which can be applied.
Once again, at present this is just a hypothetical as I am yet to find anything credible on Asgarov failing dope test. (He won Silver in Rio as well).

what a lucky win ! scoring two goals at 90+4 and 90+11 !!! thanks to Qatari GK for that blunder
we have to play much much better than this, we didn't deserve the win today but I take it, it was just the first match and a win is a win.

I think a large portion of voters this time around would be voting against a candidate and not for. Also, I won't be surprised if in near future, we see a large number of independent or 3rd party candidates winning governorships and Senate/House seats. Both parties are in serious trouble.
