    This format is good since it puts weight on each round, no room for conserving energy and blah blah in the first round. Also, quarterfinals 1vs8 (...) would be less competitive, especially among women.

    Yes. since with new rules there are no shoot-offs in the final, but rather the tie-breakers are decided with qualifying positions. I think there can only be a final shoot-off in case of a tie for gold.

    3rd-5th were probably tied. All ties in top 6 have to be resolved with shoot-off before the final with new rules.
