  1. Tomass Dukurs wins. His second victory ever. The first one was over 15 years ago.
  2. Even with Enzie pulling a decent run today, it's crazy how much both Canada and the USA have dropped in the men's skeleton this year. Top 20 can be considered a success these days.
  3. Wright may be young, but that's nothing for the NZ standards. Their two medalists from Pyeongchang were both 16 (!) at the time. Alice Robinson is 20 and already has multiple WC wins and is a medal favorite. Wright is far, far away from medal podiums at this point. Okay, not every sport is the same, but maybe NZOC doesn't know any better, or maybe they are just not very impressed by him.
  4. It's not that similar. Fak got pampered by our NOC basically more than any other individual athlete. He just made up his mind about the switch and would not yield... at all. And he did not yield because the Slovenian training camp gave him an ultimatum... Either change nationality or you are out
  5. NZ has Winter Olympic medals. And Campbell is really not that good. This statistic about him being the second 19-year old with WC points or whatnot seems deceiving. There were many 19-year olds who would have most definitely scored WC points - if only their nations were allowed more entries.
  6. Can you really just change your sport nationality a month before the Olympics? Even if you already have dual nationality in practice? With many federations, it wouldn't have been possible.
  7. I wouldn't be too sure... Swedish NOC seems to be rather open minded for debutantes in new sports for them.
  8. Bosker almost fell down all on his own today. Surely the team does not need him that much.
  9. Meh.... I really wanted Joy Beune to qualify.
  10. Because the climate change is not Maribor's fault. Seems like there is a deal in the background about changing venues to Kranjska Gora if necessary.
  11. Probably he thought he could make the Olympics here, but his FIS points remain far above the required average.
  12. And Otterspeer will probably also grab the sweepstake 500 m quota won by Ntab?
  13. I guess Antoinette will likely now withdraw from the 1k in favor of her sister? There goes the biggest surprise down the drain.
  14. Apparently Cyprus is yet to qualify in the women's events, as is San Marino, but they are desperately trying and somewhat succeeding at the Cypriot Championships also in Kolašin. Time is running out though, and this is really a last ditch effort by to have more than just one male skier. Cyprus famously had one skier in Pyeongchang who infamously DNF'd both events...
  15. Arash Salehi needed 8 hours (!) to complete his first run at the Iranian GS championships. @MHSN https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/results.html?sectorcode=AL&raceid=112562
  16. I guess this was one of those rare days when the Finnish technicians found a magic formula for the classic skis. It happens every once in a while.
  17. I guess this is the breaking news everywhere. Benoit Paire has tested positive for the 250th (!!) time, allegedly
  18. Zrinka Ljutić once again almost makes the second run despite a large mistake. What a talent, but she just can't deliver a clean run at WC level yet. Improved from 55th at split one to 31st at finish.
  19. I guess the main surprises so far are Scheperkamp, Antoinette in the 1000 m, and Kramer making it. You know it has been pretty uneventful since Kramer qualifying can be considered a surprise.
  20. Yeah... This event is not the same without its city setting.
  21. Nah. I remember being the only one who predicted her Olympic gold. She is well capable.
  22. Soviets and East Germans were never breaking 30 year old WRs by astronomical margins.
  23. Basically the most limited discipline on the program (Summer or Winter). Around 10 countries have their squads... And that's it.
