  1. They can qualify 2 because both of them won the gold medal. (which was necessary for them) so I think this is it M1X: W1X: LM2X: LW2X:
  2. Iran and Taipei won gold and silver in MC1-1000 and two quotas UZB won gold in MK1-1000, KAZ finished 2nd but can't win another quota here, therefore that goes to the 3rd place Iran
  3. Zokirova and Nguyen won gold and silver in women's C1-200 and qualify two more finals left
  4. no this is his only World Cup participation, for him it's just a preparation tournament but his result matters a lot for those two other guys I mentioned. Shek takes the first quota. that's for sure if they count Reyes in the ranking, that will reduce 5pts from the Australian which means Olfati will take the quota.
  5. This is UWW after all, you shouldn't ask for logic I wrote something about it during the African qualifiers. they want to have a true 3rd place finisher in case something happens to top 2. they do it only for weights with 6 or 7 entries (two groups format) but this is funny because per rules. if less than 8 wrestlers participate. there will be no reallocation and if someone withdraws (or something else) the quota transfers to become a wild card.
  6. apparently the second quota in vault between IRN and AUS comes to this question, do they count the Pan-American quota winner in the World Cup ranking or not ? Audrys Nin Reyes won a quota at the Pan-Am Games but from what I read that should be counted after the World Cup, which means he is still eligible for a World Cup quota and therefore his results should be counted in the ranking? in this case Olfati qualifies. but if they remove him from the ranking, then Bacueti wins the quota any thoughts ?
  7. Countries with more than 2 boats in the finals 4 3 I don't think Indonesia can qualify more than 2 but Japan and Uzbekistan most probably will reach their limit numbers and we will see reallocation. highly likely in W1X final because the Russian mercenary of UZB will win the gold and Japan has to give up the quota. in M1X I expect Uzbekistan to give up the quota (they will pick the Russian and one of LW2) so I assume everybody in M1X final is already qualified nobody read above
  8. and finalists in LM2 events, where only 2 boats qualify LM2X from heats: from repechages: LW2X from heats: from repechages: most probably and they missed to show the LW2X graphics. but I'm almost sure it was lane 3 and 4. THA and INA keep in mind each NOC can qualify 2 boats and Japan can qualify 2 boats only if both of them finish 1st.
  9. M1X finalists, 6 boats for 5 quotas but reallocation is highly possible if one NOC wins more than 2 boat quotas. W1X finalists
  10. Today we had only one important final. WK1-500 China won the gold but can't win another quota. therefore and qualify
  11. my take on what happened today as for Iran, only once in history we failed to qualify a full men's freestyle team and that was in 1996 only because our 48kg guy failed in the weight-in! (only one qualification tournament back then) but I'm afraid it will happen again, they are trying different wrestlers but we are just weak in lower weights. Mohammadnejad-Javan had a good draw today but he failed miserably. it's already decided who is going to Turkey but I'm not optimistic at all. we won two quotas today, Emami at 74 had a shaky start against the Korean but he was much much better in the afternoon and made up for that terrible start. but 97kg Azarpira was simply terrible. I don't know what's wrong with him, sometimes he wrestles like a future Olympic Champion but sometimes he is just bad. he won the quota but gave us a scare in both matches. after all I was expecting 2 and we got 2 but the performance was worrisome 57kg: Almaz-uulu survived two close matches against CHN and MGL to qualify. while he was lucky I think he was the better wrestler from the top half. I feel sorry for Aman, his offence is world class but his weak defense costs him sometimes like today. Abdullaev knew even 9-0 lead is not safe against Aman, so he never stopped attacking until he won 10-0. poor tactical match from Aman, I still think he will quaify next time but other wrestlers are figuring him out. he has to adjust 65kg: Akmataliev had two tough matches against MGL #2 (I still can't understand they they didn't register Tulga) and PRK. you never see North Korean wrestlers gassing but it happened today. in the other half the first round match was the real final, this new Japanese kid Kiyooka is a real deal. he beat Kudiev despite making lots of errors. with a little more of international experience I would consider him a gold medal favorite in Paris (or in next few years) 74kg: Emami and Abdurakhmanov were top 2 wrestlers in the draw and won the quotas. not much drama here 86kg: Hayato Ishiguro is a good wrestler himself but today was his lucky day. he was supposed to go through Deepak and Sharipov but then that happened to Deepak and Sharipov lost to the Korean and Ishiguro had to wrestle something like 1 minute to qualify Bahrain made a big big mistake letting Sharipov wrestle at the Asian Champs few days ago. he was very tired today and lost easily. the other SF finished 1-1 (passivity points only) and MGL won a lucky undeserving quota. the Chinese wrestler was a bit better but after all none of them deserved the quota but someone had to win. 97kg: Yergali was lucky to beat the Chinese wrestler. still I think he was the better wrestler but the top half was easier anyway. in bottom half I think Yoshida has a bright future. Azarpira somehow managed to beat him but that was an ugly win. the Mongolian was tough too. I won't be surprised if both of them qualify in Turkey. 125kg: Monkhtor beat the grandpa Deng by two passivity cautions. he controlled the center of the mat and Deng could's score on him. Deng beat him last year in Belgrade but he is aging. in other SF I was expecting a win for Sharpiov but same as his brother in 86kg he made a huge mistake (by participating at the Asian Champs) he was deadly tired already and the Giant Kazakh took his chance.
  12. here are the quotas, max 2 quotas for everybody 57: 65: 74: 86: 97: 125:
  13. and he didn't Abdullaev had the perfect tactic for this match, attaching Aman with everything he has in first 2-3 minutes to finish the match early. he knew Aman will eat him alive in the 2nd period 57kg quotas go to and
  14. The first session was a nightmare, we lost just one match but it could be easily 3. all 3 of them were just a shadow of themselves. obviously something went wrong in their preparations we knew we are weak at 57kg but that was wow. Mohammadnejad lost 14-3 to a guy from Mongolia! that was his golden chance and he threw it away, he won't see the national team forever or at least not anytime soon. Emami was shaky and gave up lots of points in scrumbles. still his opponent was old and finally gassed. but Azarpira almost lost to the Japanese-Iranian Yoshida. the final score 9-1 is completely misleading. Yoshida had the control for the entire match and Azarpira had to rely on his counter attacks. he was dead after 2-3 minutes and I don't know how he survived Yoshida. I'm not confident at all about the afternoon matches, but they have time to recover and think about what they did in the morning. here are the semifinals 57: vs / vs 65: vs / vs 74: vs / vs 86: vs / vs 97: vs / vs 125: vs / vs
  15. good day for Kazakhstan, they won both remaining double quotas
  16. of course. I watched the match my point is, Aman should be happy he is facing Abdullaev and not the North Korean. even though he would be favorite against anybody in this bracket.
  17. I think he will if he survives the early storm. the North Korean would be a tougher matchup for Aman.
  18. no they postponed the next two finals (WC2 and MK2) to the start of the next session. heavy wind I assume
  19. no good quality but still https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9V-WOh8ZxjI
  20. and Kazakhstan won a close battle with Japan and Uzbekistan to win the Men's C2 quota.
  21. Women's K2 quota goes to .... guess who ? greedy China they beat Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan narrowly. this is China's 2nd string squad. their better athletes are already qualified in WK4.
  22. any chance for a live stream ? or live score ? I assume the answer is no but no hurt in asking
  23. and a bit about Greco 60kg: 5 Asian wrestlers are already qualified and that makes this competition weaker. much weaker. I think Sultangali (KAZ) already won the quota thanks to the draw unless something super crazy happens. and in the bottom half PRK is the clear favorite, the South Korean guy is totally new but he is probably good that they picked him over Kim H.S. still it's easy to say 67kg: top half will be decided between KGZ, PRK and CHN. I think Ismailov will meet Husiyueto in the SF and since they are the host, he will be the favorite there are 4 big names in the bottom half, former World Champ Ryu will meet Sogabe. I think Sogabe will go to the SF against the winner of Atabaev vs Shermakhanmet. it's hard to pick between these 3 guys. my prediction: 77kg: this is a weak filed with only few serious competitors. Zhadrayev has a clean path to the quota. only the Korean might give him a challenge and even that is highly unlikely. in bottom half I expect to see IRN vs CHN for the quota. Kaviani beat this Chinese guy twice recently but it was never easy for him. my prediction: 87kg: the terrible seeding system made the top half much easier. the QF match between CHN vs KOR will decide who is going to Paris. I think China is the clear favorite bottom half is much harder, our guy Mohmadi has to beat KGZ to reach the SF which I think he will. in the other part we will have JPN vs IND first. both of them are good and it won't be easy to predict but still multiple World medalist Berdimuratov (UZB) will be favorite against any of them. I think Mohmadi and Berdimuratov are claerمy the top 2 here but only one of them goes to Paris. I want to be a bit biased here, so I say 97kg: again another unbalanced draw. out of 4 favorites, 3 of them are in the top half. Assakalov has to beat both KAZ and KGZ to qualify, won't be easy and I think his match vs Zhuzupbekov might be 50/50 I still go with Assakalov and his pure technique clearly the first round match between CHN vs KOR will decide the quota with China as the clear favorite (you can never rule out a 1-1 result in heavyweight) 130kg I'm very surprised that Korea is not entering Kim Min-seok, he did good few days ago at the Asian Champs. does it mean the other guy is better than him? I'm going to pick him because of that reason ! but Nesimov (UZB) and even the India Naveen has a chance to beat him. in the bottom half the SF between KAZ and KGZ will be crucial. my prediction:
  24. oh that's terrible . not sure if they have/had to cut weight. maybe that's manageable if they don't but still it's really hard to deal with not-resting enough and cutting weight at the same time. we had the same problems too but fortunately that was only for the officials who wanted to travel later. The wrestlers went to Bishkek earlier
  25. OK, let's take a look at freestyle draws 57kg: the bracket is somehow balanced but the bottom half looks tougher to me no clear favorite in the top half. I think 4 wrestlers have a chance to qualify. Zou (CHN) will face the Kyrgyz wrestler in the QF. and in other QF I expect to see MGL vs IRN. this is clearly our weakest weight and Mohammadnejad has a not-so-easy Russian (representing TJK) in the first round as well. I think any of these 4 wrestlers can qualify. we have 3 clear favorite in the bottom half, Aman (IND) the North Korean and Abdullaev. Aman has to beat Kazakhstan in the first round which is never easy. I always rank Aman very high but PRK in lightweight is something else and this guy won the silver in Hangzhou Asian Games. so I'm trying to not be biased so let's say 65kg: while we have some challengers from KAZ, CHN and the russian mercenary of Bahrain, I think the first round match between Kudiev and Kiyooka will determine the top half quota. Kudiev is a very good Russian (recently bought by TJK) but Kiyooka beat the Olympic Champion Otoguro to make the Japanese team. I'm very very surprised that MGL is not entering the Asian Games Champion Tulga. their new guy is not actually new and he was never impressive. I wonder how come he is #1 and Tulga is #2 !! he will face the host favorite Akmataliev. I think the winner of this match will qualify at the end but we also have Sujeet (IND) , I'm not familiar with him but he beat Bajrang back home. he has a big challenge in the first round against Jalalov (UZB) and last but not least is North Korea. Kim KJ won the bronze at the Asian Games and only lost to Tulga. in summary any of these 5 guys can qualify. this is a very tough weight in Asia. while I know I'm most probably wrong but I say 74kg: there are 5 or 6 quality wrestlers in the top half but I think one between Abdurakhmanov, Toktkomambetov or Asluev will qualify. Abdurakhmanov has a tough first round against the Russian-Tajik Evloev. if he wins I don't the QF will be challenging for him. I still pick the Olympic bronze medalist but I know he is getting old and is beatable now there are two clear favorite, Kaipanov has a clean path to the SF and our Emami also most probably can win his QF with relative ease. Emami and Kaipanov are old rivals. they had couple of controversial matches before. Emami sometimes chokes when you don't expect him to but still I think 86kg: 3 Asian wrestlers are already qualified which makes this a bit easier. but still the draw is quite unbalanced and we have 3 favorite in the top half. Sharipov, Deepak and Ishiguro. I would pick Sharipov but he wrestled few days ago at the Asian Champs (although at 92kg) but still he will be a bit tired so I go with the winner of IND/JPN match, I think Deepak can prevail with his experience but it will be close. in bottom half I don't think the Kyrgyz wrestler can do much so it will be between CHN and MGL. my prediction 97kg: almost all of the favorite are in the bottom half and I think the top half will be between KAZ and CHN (slim chance for Korea) I give it to Yergali but I know the Chinese is well capable of beating him. our Azarpira is the favorite for the quota but he has to face the worst possible opponent in the QF. Arash Yoshida if JPN has an Iranian father. he has the same style as our wrestlers mixing it with few Japanese tricks making him very dangerous. but still he is very young and this is his first serious 97kg competition. we also have Olympic bronze medalist grandpa Ibragimov and the Mongolian. any of these 4 wrestlers can qualify (sorry but I give no chance to India) still I think the top 2 seeds will make it 125kg: two big names in the first half, Deng (CHN) and Monkhtor (MGL) the last time they faced Deng beat the Mongolian narrowly but I think it will be different this time. I see 4 guys capable of winning the quota in bottom half. Sharipov (the new Russian mercenary) looked good at the Asian Champs. he will be the favorite if he is not tired of back to back competitions. the giant Kazakh Batirmurzaev will be his biggest challenge, also Lazarev (KGZ) can be dangerous, he sometimes wins matches when you don't expect. also the former drug cheat Rakhimov is in the mix. I say
