  1. and for women 49kg: Qualified Panipak Wongpattanakit Sim Jae-Young Rukiye Yildrim Tijana Bogdanovic the 5th place will be between Wu Jingyu and Kristina Tomic , if Wu wins the gold she will be 5th. but it won't matter most probably, because there is almost no chance for an outsider to win the Grand Slam quota, so even though it's not done mathematically yet but both Wu and Tomic are qualified already 99%. 57kg: Qualified Jade Jones Lee Ah-Reum Tatiana Kudashova Irem Yaman Skylar Park I didn't count the points for these Turkish girls but it seems Hatice Ilgun still can grab Yaman's place if she wins the gold. doesn't matter who qualifies, Turkey still can send any of them because they are both in top 20. Zhou Lijun is guaranteed 6th place, she is also the leading the Grand Slam ranking, all other athletes capable of reaching her in GS ranking are qualified already, only another Chinese girl Luo Zongshi can take her place. so the quota is 100% safe for China. 67kg: Qualified Nur Tatar Matea Jelic Lauren Williams Zhang Mengyu Ruth Gbagbi Paige McPherson is guaranteed 6th place, very good chance to qualify, but still Oh Hye-Ri of Korea can win the Grand Slam and denies her the quota. +67kg: Bianca Walkden Zheng Shuyin Lee Da-Bin Milica Mandic Nafia Kus Aleksandra Kowalczuk is guaranteed 6th place, also very good chance to qualify, she won't qualify only if one of those American girls win the Grand Slam.
  2. here is the situation for the Olympic quota before the final day of the last ranking event. I can say I'm confident about my calculations, 58kg: Qualified Jang Jun Jesus Tortosa Armin Hadipour Mikhail Artamonov Vito Dell'Aquila Jack Woolley is guaranteed 6th place and he has to wait for Grand Slam result, very good chance 68kg: Qualified Lee Dae-Hoon Bradly Sinden Zhao Shuai Javier Perez the 5th place will be between Mirhashem Hosseini and Jaouad Achab , if Hosseini wins the bronze he will finish 5th. but since the Grand Slam winner will be between Zhaom, Sinden or Lee for sure the 6th guy will qualify too, which means both Hosseini and Achab are 100% qualified. 80kg: Qualified Maksim Khramtcov Milad Beigi Cheick Sallah Cisse Nikita Rafalovich for now Raul Martinez is 5th and Toni Kanaet is 6th. but Seif Eissa can beat both of them and grab the last quota if he wins the bronze. in this case Eissa will receive the quota and Martinez has to wait for the Grand Slam. otherwise Martinez will qualify and Kanaet has to wait. +80kg: Qualified Vladislav Larin In Kyo-Don Alexander Bachmann for now, Abdul Razzak Issoufou is 4th, Ivan Trajkovic is 5th and Mahama Cho is 6th but none of them are safe because Sajjad Mardani is in the final and will surpass all of them if he wins the gold. Trajkovic is also in the bronze medal match and if he wins he will take Issoufou's place and will qualify for sure. so if Mardani and Trajkovic win they will get the quota no matter what, Trajkovic can still qualify if Mardani fails. at worst Issoufou will be 6th (and can wait for the Grand Slam result) if both Mardani and Trajkovic win their matches in the final day.
  3. I made some quick calculations, here is the points between those candidates after the deduction before this event. I didn't consider the top 3 as they have far more points as you can see Seif Essa will lose more points simply because he collected more points in month of December in previous years. UZB 278.27 ESP 273.96 CRO 271.58 EGY 262.58 this is how it looks like for all of them now, for now I count 4th place finish for both Essa and Rafalovich 4) UZB 278.27+17.28=295.55 5) ESP 273.96+12.1=286.06 6) CRO 271.58+12.1=283.68 7) EGY 262.58+17.28=279.86 there will be 11pts difference between 4th place and bronze medal. there is no way he can finish 6th (and waiting for the Grand Slam), it will be either 5th or 7th. which means direct qualification or nothing.
  4. obviously they are looking at the current ranking and that's why they said that , Seif Essa is 5th and all athletes below him are eliminated , so that's easy conclusion but they are wrong. and let's hope your athlete doesn't count on that. I saw his reaction after the defeat when he was thanking God (even though he somehow got robbed with those cheap punch points but that's another matter) it seems he feels he is already qualified. there will be points deduction each month, that's why you can't trust the current ranking. you have to consider those points deduction first.
  5. now I think even mathematically that's impossible for the rest. (no I was wrong mathematically still possible but we know that's not going to happen) do you have the start list for GS ? I can't see that in WT website
  6. yes it seems its almost impossible for anybody to win the Grand Slam quota in that weight. even though Panipak was absent here, so mathematically if she also doesn't show up in GS, it's still possible "on paper" for someone else to wins the quota with 1000 more points. I know there is probably only 1% chance for that.
  7. Yes, that's what Iran always do
  8. Mirhashem lost in the very last second to a head shot to the great Lee Dae-hoon I think he doesn't know his Olympic spot is safe . I think our federation doesn't know the Asian Games result will be counted for 2019 (and not 2018) and those 10pts make lots of difference. without them he still needs the bronze tomorrow to qualify.
  9. by taking a quick look at the ranking, it seems these athletes are "safe" to qualify. or at least it looked obvious to me, only for 68kg I considered 6 because it's already a sure thing nobody can mathematically win the Grand Slam quota. @prso1000 correct me if I was wrong anywhere Men's 58kg: Men's 68kg: Men's 80kg: Men's +80kg: Women's 49kg: Women's 57kg: Women's 67kg: Women's +67kg:
  10. Mardani keeps his hope alive by that last second punch, he also beat Sansores by a last second kick !! this is just his way and he will never change it. I think 70% of his matches come to the last 10 seconds ! but still he needs to win the gold and it will be against In Kyo-don !! it will be really hard. by my count, Larin (RUS), In (KOR) and Bachmann (GER) are safe. Trajkovic is currently less than a point behind Issoufou and needs to win the bronze tomorrow to make sure about his quota. of course both Trajkovic and Issoufou will qualify if Mardani fails to win the gold tomorrow. Mahamo Cho will qualify only if Mardani fails to win the gold here and also fails to win the Grand Slam quota.
  11. wow that's unbelievable ! I'm sure your federation should protest about it, because at the end maybe those 20 pts make a big difference. does it mean we can't trust the ranking in other weights too ?! at least on those weights i was monitoring most favorites already had full 40pts so I assume no big mistake there.
  12. yes more than that here people are making lots of jokes in social media about them. some former athletes are making jokes like "thanks god I'm retired and I don't have to wear this" I really hope they drop the idea after this, white for women are less ugly but this idea of making men wearing all black is TERRIBLE.
  13. Yes I was looking at the wrong column "Points From Previous Years in Ranking Cycle" maybe they participated in another "Olympic weight" if I'm not wrong when you register yourself for men's 68kg for example you will get points only if you participate one weight up or one weight down. 63kg, 68kg and 74kg
  14. These new uniforms look ugly. extremely bad idea IMO . apparently it's not mandatory here, some athletes don't wear them.
  15. I just checked that, they are both in the ranking but with 0 pts in their second weight, probably just a software mistake. as you know one athlete can't be in two different Olympic weights, they have to notify WT if they want to switch weight at the start of the season. but do you mean they also calculated points wrongly ? how is that possible ?!
  16. 5 or 6 will be decided by "Grand Slam" in 2 weeks. for now only top 5 are 100% guaranteed. but I can say in most (if not all) weights the 6th rank athlete will qualify too I can't answer your question about Wiet-Henin. because all of her opponents also made it to the semifinal. I assume she at least needs a silver. but it needs more calculations . it's just complicated because there will be points reduction
  17. Hosseini yes by my calculations , (actually all 6 qualified athletes are already decided in that weight) even though our federation thinks he still needs silver or gold but Mardani only has to win the gold to qualify. even silver won't be enough for him.
  18. most probably for most athletes and but someone has to make the calculations I only did it for 3 weights involving the Iranians
  19. Semifinals are set for the Grand Prix final "the last ranking event for the Olympic qualification" Men's 58kg: Jang vs Hadipour Dell'Aquila vs Popov Men's 68kg: Lee vs Hosseini Zhao vs Sinden Men's 80kg: Khramtsov vs Eissa Rafalovich vs Beigi Men's +80kg: Isaev vs Mardani Trajkovic vs In Women's 49kg: Sim vs Bogdanovic Yildrim vs Wu Women's 57kg: Zolotic vs Ilgun Park vs Luo Women's 67kg: Wiet Henin vs Jelic McPherson vs Gbagbi Women's +67kg: Walkden vs Mandic Gao vs Zheng
  20. we have the same rule at the Asian Games, they just don't want Thailand winning all gold medals ! (and yes I know this is stupid) btw these events are all unnecessary , at first it was just Regu (regu means "team") then they got bored and created other events like doubles, quad, team doubles etc ! and they are all similar ! at least hoop takraw is different, yes it's long and boring but at least different. in a normal world there should be only 2 events for this sport, Men's Regu and Women's Regu.
  21. if you check the results in poomsae World Champs. they have it for different age categories. technically there is no open age event ! even at the Asian Games it was open to athletes from 18 to 30 ! this is how they created Poomsae in first place. training poomsae is good for health but it's terrible to watch
  22. wow. for a moment I thought it's a kind of April Fools' Day but then I noticed we are nowhere near April he is a real pro (and I don't mean professional). first he offered himself to Azerbaijan, then for some reasons it didn't work, next was Germany and he probably found out Germany is not a country you can obtain the citizenship overnight , so next option, Mongolia ! seriously who would expect that. as @phelps said he can't legally participate in Tokyo but I agree with you, IJF will find a way for him. but then it's also an IOC matter. IJF already created a new profile for him https://www.ijf.org/judoka/59210
  23. UWW suspended Abdulrashid Sadulaev for 4 months for wearing a T-shirt kind of nothing since there is no competition for him in next couple of months and the suspension will end on January 2020. but checking the UWW website, the date is listed as 21 January 2019 !! seriously ?! https://unitedworldwrestling.org/sites/default/files/2019-11/191126_list_of_disciplinary_sanctions_uww_website.pdf They suspended the most famous wrestler in the world and put down the wrong date !!! well done
  24. Yeah I noticed your relation with Kazakhstan but I have to say it was a great tournament for them, 5 in the final ! more than anybody else btw I have to say this girl Berultseva is very talented, I think we will hear more from her, I think she has a good chance to take the last +68kg spot away from our Abbasali she is still below Abbasali in the ranking (and will remain that way after this event) I also follow this Semeraro/Ferracuti race, Ferracuti actually has a very good chance to qualify, she almost won nothing in 2019 European Champs which means she will gain lots of points from the next year Euro Champs. but I hope Semeraro beat her and qualifies instead I'm sure you know why. we had some better results today, but Abbasali lost the most important match to her direct rival Chatzialiadou, even if she wins the bronze tomorrow, this tournament will make things harder for her. Alipour (after winning the last PL event) lost in the first round despite leading the Japanese girl until the very last second ! things are less complicated on the men's side, we are almost sure about 2 quotas and 67kg is completely out of reach. but the battle between Ganjzadeh and Poursheib for the +75kg quota continues with Ganjzadeh getting a better result this time. he will fight for the gold while Zabih can win a bronze at max. ps: it seems they banned Jonathan Horne because of what happened in Moscow , didn't hear anything about it. does anybody know about the ban and its length ? it was ugly what happened in Moscow but I think just disqualifying him from that event was enough punishment.
  25. while UAE failed to qualify through World Cups but they didn't participate at the Asian Shooting Championships ! probably because of boycotting Qatar ! which was stupid because it was never a strict policy, and they changed it few days later, their football team is in Qatar right now. ps: this is just what I assumed, maybe there are another reasons behind their absence.
