  1. just checked Iran Ski Fed website, they sent only 8 athletes (plus 2 coaches) to Germany. no idea how there are 12 names on the list when they registered only 8. btw if it was up to me I would shot down the ski federation and send them all to a labor camp in North Korea, complete waste of time and money. each year they participate and always make the same excuses after getting extremely poor results. this year will be even worse, most ski resorts were closed until few weeks ago.
  2. that will be amongst the runner-ups in 5 regions. that was easier in the men's side because India is 1 and 2 and one of them will finish 2nd in South Asia region. but remember that will be based on April's ranking. not the current one but I assume not much change (don't know how many events left though) for the women's part, Thailand's SAWETTABUT is first by a good margin ahead of Batra (India), the other girl from Thailand is 3rd. right now I see 5 girls from Southeast Asia in the list. (that means a round robin competition) but I was thinking if those two Thai girls have to decide the winner (probably in the last match), maybe the better girl losses intentionally to help her teammate. she will qualify later as the best runner-up.
  3. I wonder if the registration deadline is over or not, North Korea should get the men's quota but as far as I know they stopped sending their athletes to anywhere since the start of the coronavirus crisis. so no surprise if they don't send anybody here. India still has to go through Pakistan which will be super easy for them but then they will qualify 2 instead of 1 their guys are #1 and #2 in Asia (among non-qualified athletes) so whoever losses their direct match will most probably get the quota as the best ranked runner-up among the regions. that Kazakh guy is not that far from them, he can be a threat only if he finishes 2nd in central Asia, otherwise 2 quotas are safe for India.
  4. The great Lithuania was a centimeter away from elimination from the EuroBasket. that last block by Kalnietis saved them great job Denmark, this time Lithuania brought a better roster but still Denmark made it as close as possible.
  5. we have a new date for the Asian OQT , 21-23 May in Jordan. they changed the date few times already, hopefully this is the final date.
  6. well it seems Croatia learned enough lessons from the previous match to take Georgia serious. too serious actually
  7. Greece GK couldn't save a thing during the 32 minutes but then he had two super saves during the penalties well this is sport congrats to Greece, sorry for France, they had a great day and were just inches away from beating Greece and btw what was the logic behind eliminating the extra time ? I know it happened few years ago but still this is something stupid.
  8. Greece scored 7 goals in 9 minutes and nothing after that. from leading 7-4 to trailing 7-10 !!
  9. Thanks still interesting how they allow someone who didn't finish the race to qualify ! in most sports you have to finish the competition at least to qualify.
  10. how the qualification race works in Alpine skiing ? how many athletes qualify for the main round? something like top 25 + another 25 (but limited to only 1 per country) ? is it optional to use whoever you want in the final ? I'm asking because I see the Iranian who had a DNF yesterday started the race today while there was another skier (from Iran I mean) with a result (and not DNF) above him. not that it really matters, but I was just curious
  11. thanks, it seems that part about him wanting to wrestle for another country is confirmed, we just don't know which country (rumors say Serbia) and also if he is legally eligible to wrestle for another country since he represented Russia on May 2018 at Euro. as you probably know per IOC rules there should be 3 years of inactivity. interestingly he wrestled for Russia on 5 May 2018 and the last chance world qualifier will start on 6 May 2021 !
  12. Hi guys, I wanted to ask a question there is a rumor in wrestling forums, that former World Champion Khetag Tsabolov is going to wrestle for Serbia ( or at least that's what he wants to do), is that true, did you hear anything about it ?
  13. that was too fast, I was making my sandwich, getting ready to watch the match and missed the goal while he looks smart on the field, outside the field he is one of the dumbest person I know
  14. well I'm no expert in winter sports but I think team event in figure skating is already lower than this or anything else.
  15. If someone takes a look at the IWF calendar , there is no qualification event left in the calendar except the continental championships. (the last one was a tournament in Colombia which is cancelled/postponed now) https://www.iwf.net/competitions/calendar/ even those continental champs are not a sure thing considering the pandemic but if nothing else happens only 1 event is left for each athlete to collect more points! the calendar actually says the Oceania "senior" championships will be held in August !! (after the Olympics) , per new rules, particiatping in one event in 2021 is mandatory for everybody, so I don't know what Oceania athletes are going to do ! and some guys like Om Yun-chol needed to participate in 2 events to be eligible. so technically he is out of the Olympics. but I expect to see some major changes in the qualification rules. this is not going to work. PS: IWF sucks but we knew it for so many years.
  16. I'm pretty sure the answer is nothing else I think the ranking is the combination of the latest continental championships, continental qualifiers and the last World Championship in Russia.
  17. for obvious reasons I was more interested in Asia and as for Europe, you have to wait till the end of the Euro Qualifiers, they also count these qualifiers in the ranking.
  18. this is terrible These are the best ranked Asian/Oceania athletes , obviously if they accept the quota it will be very interesting for Oceania athletes, specially Samoa having a separate continental championship helped them to have more ranking points. only 6 out of 63 quotas went to Oceania during the qualifiers. they will get 5 more here. but I assume there will be some withdrawals. two of these Samoan boxers didn't even participate at the qualifier in Jordan. 52: Carlo Paalam 57: Erdenebatyn Tsendbaatar 63: Harry Garside 69: Marion Ah Tong 75: Fanat Kakhramonov 81: Dilshodbek Ruzmetov 91: Ato Plodzicki-Faoagali +91: Filimaua Hala 51: Pang Chol-Mi 57: Nesthy Petecio 60: Wang Cong 69: Maftunakhon Melieva 75: Faasu Loia
  19. technically that's awarding Russia, not punishing they got the main Olympic Qualification tournament (2023 Worlds) instead of a normal World Championship in 2022.
  20. yep that's a bit old news, Iran usually don't have doping positive during the multi sport events, simply because they test everybody before the event to avoid such a thing. (getting cheaters inside the country is much better) but apparently they received the wild card quota only 10 days before the competition and they had no time to test this guy and wait for the result. the guy was looked like a monster during the competition, eating everybody alive. at the time I was thinking, how I never heard his name before? he was too good to "not be in the freestyle team" now I know why
  21. I highly doubt Iran cares much about Yemen, yes they care about Iraq, Lebanon and Syria but Yemen is a different story. there are lots of exaggeration about Iran's influence in Yemen but whatever they are doing in Yemen is probably only to have more cards to play in future negotiations. they will sell these "Houthis" in a second if they have to. and unfortunately nobody cares about Yemen because there is no money. ending that war isn't that hard if there is a will. nobody is going to win this endless war. only innocent people suffer more and more. they can't eliminate each other and Saudis have no army to invade Yemen. so they will continue just bombing people. but why Russia ? have they any interest in Yemen ?
  22. and another footballer from that generation just joined him today, Ali Ansarian died from COVID 19 at the age of 43. not a World Cup player but still very famous and popular because of his club achievements (and also his later career as an actor and a TV host). both guys were at the same TV/internet live show few weeks ago and both got infected there.
  23. I'm afraid not, the original schedule confirms that wow
  24. this is the olympic schedule http://www.fiba.basketball/olympics/men/2020/schedule1.pdf the document says the bronze medal match will be AFTER the gold medal match, wow ! this is new. probably never happened before anywhere.
  25. Japan to host the Asian/Oceania qualifiers 5-7 May in Tokyo https://worldrowing.com/2021/02/01/tokyo-bid-for-2021-asia-and-oceania-continental-olympic-qualification-regatta-accepted-by-the-world-rowing-council/
