Did we just unofficially pick up an Olympic quota in modern pentathlon by virtue of only 5 countries being left in the competition?
-
I think there was a diving silver that we missed reporting earlier too in the 10m synchro.

Really hoping we can get our first Olympic quota tomorrow. Unlikely, though, best shot would be in men’s speed climbing, and don’t see that happening.
Could it perhaps be in women's Skeet shooting? I think its unlikely but Madeline Boyd is in 7th atm and there's a 6 person final. The chilean athlete is already qualified and the US is maxed out for the event. Unlikely but not impossible.

McKay holds on for a bronze in the 10m and I believe we have a silver in gymnastics.

GOLD in the relay!

Also we've now equaled our gold medals in swimming from 2019.

Nicol 1st, Angus 2nd in the 100m breaststroke!
All of a sudden, women's breaststroke will be one of the more interesting events at Olympic trials
This is low key hilarious to see this field blossom!

Can caeli pick us up a second quota for paris by winning? Or does it have to be celina?
It would only be if Celina won gold.

Canada's 4 best wrestlers atm arguably (Dhesi, MacNeil, Di Stasio and Godinez) have all withdrawn
Hasn't Dhesi been recovering from an injury?

Left out tennis, right now Canada isn’t in the best state, although the Olympics do tend to have some surprise medalists. Best chance would IMO be Dabrowski/Fernandez in women’s doubles, but don’t see it happening. FAA (not this version), Fernandez (not this version either), and a fully healthy Andresscu should all have chances though.
Women’s football medal matches take place from August 9 (BMM) to 10 (GMM).
Women’s beach volleyball medal matches take place on either August 9 or 10, dates are still TBD.
Great job putting this together! I'm hopeful that there's a few other surprises that come about. Maybe Jeremie Chartier on trampoline? I'm also not giving up on the men's 4x100m freestyle winning a medal (that would be a great first day tbh).

I fell asleep somewhere in the third set! I should have known after the loss to Belgium that if there was a complex way of qualifying Canada would go on that route. I'm so happy!!!

A win against Mexico would do it. Otherwise Argentina qualifies. If Argentina loses as well, Belgium qualifies.
Well I’m all for a Argentina qualification If it helps us get in by rating

Bulgaria is playing Belgium now. Belgium 2-1 up.
Does canada have a chance of qualifying if Bulgaria beats Belgium?

Canada did a good job catching it up, and then they had it. And then they gave it away.
LA 2028!
Can they not qualify at all now? I think there's still a way.

They look like boys playing men. It's....confusing.
Tbh the Belgium team that showed up is one that is playing far above their world ranking. But so is Canada
