  1. The logo should have just been a big bucket of cash.
  2. I agree. They are a generation who has been given everything, and they are wasting it. 90% of them will probably never win an NBA ring anyways - An Olympic medal might be their only shot at some sort of glory
  3. I think it's a testament to the improvement of other teams around the world, not the other way around. The 2018 team would walk all over the 1998 USA team.
  4. That is so absurd. This team is composed of NBA players, several of which are potential All-Stars and the top players on their NBA team. The 1998 team had no NBA talent. I don't quite see how the two are comparable.
  5. Not to mention they are being coached by the best coach in the world, and one of the best coaches in the NBA in Steve Kerr
  6. I'll never understand the narrative about Greece being good. They have no one of value outside of Giannis.
  7. Wow, what a choke job by Turkey. But, the moral of the story is that this US team is not invincible.
  8. What a joke. Shame on all of the healthy players who failed to play in this tournament. Canada Basketball needs to get its act together for the final qualification tournament. This exercise was a complete waste of talent for a program that should have been a medal contender. Even though this was expected, I'm still furious.
  9. Gold medals in the Winter Games, and total medals in the Summer Games I think you can guess why...
  10. The website for this event is absolutely useless. Does anyone have a link for live results?
  11. I'm fairly confident that we will at least beat Senegal. I also expect that Canada basketball will rally the troops for the fqt, and get all of our best players to show up
  12. Apologies, I was referring to the first game. I had yet to see the score of the second one. Nonetheless, they could beat them in the tournament but we’ll see
  13. They just dominated Australia without any NBA players on their roster.
  14. Well, just like the Olympic test events themselves, it's nice that we're getting this all out of our system before the real event next summer.
  15. I find this hilarious. What ever happened to the promotion of "fair play" and "sportsmanship". This looks like the perfect example of both of those values!
  16. I didn't mean that. But a "best of the best" Canadian starting 5, and a few bench players, would certainly be stronger than the majority of EuroLeague players. I also see the point you're making about American colleges - but NBA teams have massive scouting operations. If a foreign-born player playing in Europe is worthy of making it to the NBA, he will get drafted, or at least invited to come and workout with a team. In that sense, top foreign players have just as strong a chance of making the NBA as top Canadians do.
  17. Yes, this was a dumb thing to post. I was enraged and frustrated, and should not have said it.
  18. Canada has never done anything at a senior level because none of our players will commit to playing. Please let me know how how a team made entirely of NBA players, including Jamal Murray and the 3rd pick in this year's draft would not have been a favourite for a medal against mostly EuroLeague teams with one NBA star on their roster
  19. This is a stupid post. If Canada had their entire roster, they would have been the deepest team in the tournament outside of the US, and a top contender for a medal. Greece and Serbia are nothing compared to the full top Canadian roster (and the roster of most teams for that matter) if you go beyond Jokic and Giannis.
  20. This is going to be like the Ice Hockey World Championships in terms of caliber of professional players who participate, only worse....
  21. Kelly Olynyk out for Canada. They should honestly just cancel this tournament.
  22. I understand the points being made - but this shows a tremendous lack of judgement and ignorance, especially considering one of the players doing the gesture, Facundo Conte, PLAYED IN CHINA PROFESSIONALLY FOR 2 years. Is that not sufficient enough contact with another culture to understand that such a gesture is wrong? And if he did understand the connotations of the gesture, he damn sure should be able to explain to his teammates that its not cool, and lead by example. The only thing I can surmise is that he's either a willfully ignorant idiot, a blatant racist, or both. By the way, I am very against much of this political correctness movement. I don't think this is comparable to making fun of the British for drinking tea, as others mentioned. That is a cultural norm - I think you run into trouble when you start poking fun at the way people are biologically created and cannot change.
