    Plus it is disappointing for the fans who can’t get so close to the action. Love the dedicated ground at Oklahoma where they do the NCAA finals, that is really tight.

    That’s another good thing about softball. It is all about getting the ball in play. Not waiting for the big muscle guy to hit it into the river.

    When I first started watching baseball they still had people chewing tobacco & spitting. You don’t get that in softball so much.

    I always watch the NCAA where they usually have separate stadiums for softball, so it doesn’t look so weird.

    I actually prefer softball to baseball. It’s much faster, there’s fewer mass meetings, there’s no stepping in & out of the box, players are having fun etc etc.

    Do they have a mercy rule in the Olympics? In NCAA they play 6 innings if one team is eight up.

    That is softball! All distances are reduced to girly size.

    Here in Discovery Plus now has a Team GB tab to direct us to all GB-related action. Since we are only in three team sports, it mostly goes to things like rowing & swimming which everyone does.

    I guess lots of us have been wondering what exactly is the view like from the other side of those Olympic rings. I was browsing through the teams social media, and I found this rare pic of newly arrived athletes waiting their turn!

    Most people are pretty sceptical: equipment malfunction or miscalibration seems more likely. It was a very low-level event, not much more than a training session.

    They're not going to have to spend much time picking up trash from the stands though. Can concentrate on creating truly Japanese karenagare raking patterns in the shale around the bases.
