  1. Thought it might be a good idea to revive this thread as there are scattered discussions elsewhere.
  2. Hmm, it’s a clickbait site, so the most intelligent people are those that refuse to use it.
  3. Horrible news - rider Andre Degre killed during the Tour of Austria - details very sketchy as yet. https://www.krone.at/3447826
  4. Long solo run by KoM Abrahmsen, now we’re heading for the sprint.
  5. Also on Sunday we have the FBK Games from Hengelo, always one of the best of the sub-Diamond League meets with all the best athletes. Special pre-game race on Saturday evening with a 10000m featuring Sifan Hassan and other well-known names. World Athletics Continental Tour | World Athletics
  6. Prepared to give pretty much everything a bit of a go because at the Olympics drama and brilliance can suddenly happen anywhere, but Breaking will be a 100% boycott from me. The only football I'll watch will be the Day -2 & -1 games, though, since those are important TV organisation days. Golf & tennis would only watch with serious medal chances.
  7. More on the Water Quality Issue for Marathon Swimming and Triathlon. Marathon swimming will be transferred to the Rowing lake if necessary, but Triathlon will be a Duathlon using the planned course and dropping the swim leg. Olympics-Paris 2024 sets up reserve site for marathon swimming if Seine unsuitable (msn.com)
  8. And better news on the "Will it take place at all?" front. The rowing and canoeing venue can be used as a backup. Olympics-Paris 2024 sets up reserve site for marathon swimming if Seine unsuitable (msn.com)
  9. Congratulations to Patrick Bartoletti, but sadly in the eyes of most fans of Hot-Dog Eating, there will always be an asterisk against his name. Hopefully there can be some equivalent of the 1980 or 1984 Zurich Athletics Meets which pitted Olympic Champions against the best athletes from the boycotting nations. Patrick Bertoletti, of Chicago, managed to gobble down 58 hot dogs to win his first men's title at the annual Nathan's Famous Fourth of July hot dog eating contest. 10. And your missing adjective is "Far-left Labour party". Also "Numpty Scottish Nationalist Party"
  11. It's a big result for Nigel Farage. Since the beginning of the three-party system more than a century ago, no Britain-wide fourth party has ever won more than 6 seats at a General Election. So if he does get 13 it will be new territory.
  12. It's the Henley Regatta this weekend, a classic event which benefits enormously from vast subsidies from some of the Worlds' richest banks, investment houses etc who reward their staff by taking them to get drunk there. There's usually some serious rowing involved also, with lots of Olympic boats or individual rowers competing in club colours. Also schools, Universities, clubs, age group and masters action mixed in. Anyway, tons of YT coverage out there, but from the sporting POV, Saturday is Semis and Sunday is Finals day. https://www.youtube.com/@HenleyRoyalRegatta/streams
  13. 11 plus. Obviously not every day. Every third or fourth day I will have to spend 30 minutes or so shopping.
  14. Got a big weekend coming up with two bumper meets at Paris & Hengelo, but in the meantime we have two lower division meets today with English commentary. One from Sweden Live Streaming - Folksam Grand Prix Karlstad | European Athletics (european-athletics.com) And one from France Live Streaming - Folksam Grand Prix Karlstad | European Athletics (european-athletics.com)
  15. Wow, absolutely textbook moves from Cavendish bring him the win! Must admit I did not think he had a chance in this company, but years of experience paid off! On the rails & blocked, big gap in the middle, moves into it, gets into the wind, no-one can match him.
  16. Starting again on Saturday - we've got the Paris Diamond League in the afternoon / early evening. Programme and competitors starting to fill up here Programme (diamondleague.com)
  17. I think it is only Cuba now that insist on that. I remember that Wilson Kepketer was not allowed to run for Denmark because Kenya refused to let him go, but once all that sweet Middle Eastern money started flowing they really abandoned all principles.
  18. And to just kick sand in Vingegaard’s face Alameda steals the bonus seconds for third from him!
  19. Vignegaard held it for a while, but looks like the other pursuers are onto him now.
  20. And there we go! P & V off on their own Pogačar gets 8 seconds at the top, so a downhill ITT now.
  21. Off we go up the Galibier with 40km to go. Breakaway group with 2’22, but surely the peloton will have ambitions. Got some early casualties - Simon Yates, Pidcock, Carapaz____
