I can't say I'm surprised, but it's always sad to see a country withdraw. In this case, however, that was Russia's own doing. They knew what they were planning and with the intent on making Ukraine look bad next to them. But Russia won't get all of the blame. The EBU dropped the ball on this issue big time. They were in the position to at least mitigate this situation, but decided not to. So, while I have little hope Ukraine and Russia will change their ways, I'm certain the top guns from the EBU and Eurovision will find themselves out of the job come this summer.

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE (MID)
The county of Nottinghamshire is located in the Midlands, home to the legend of Robin Hood!
For the next 3 weeks this Archery mad county will be home to the delegations of United States @dezbee2008 and Russia @vovanA, some of the most successful competing nations in Archery at the Olympics. You may be thinking what an unlikely pairing, but there is an important history to this region that makes this pairing very interesting..
 
United States - Sherwood Forest

With the longest journey yet Team USA arrived slightly tired, but excited for their next few weeks in the glorious Sherwood Forest, home to the legend of Robin Hood, an outlaw who took from the rich and gave to the poor. The county of Nottinghamshire is positively obsessed with the legend, placing him on their flag, road signs and across the county in statues. But the forest, originally called Birklands and Bilhaugh, has long been a royal hunting ground and is home to the Major Oak, thought to be almost 1000 years old.

The importance of Robin Hood to the region cannot be understated, the annual Robin Hood Festival recreates the medieval atmosphere and acts as a celebration of the legend that has put the region on the map. But perhaps for this pairing of countries there is something more important than Robin Hood hidden within Sherwood Forest.
There is one place in Sherwood Forest that dates back to Viking times called the Thynghowe, which was only discovered 10 years ago, yet during the 14th-17th centuries it was the place where people and communities came to resolve and settle their disputes. Maybe some of the magic of Sherwood Forest might send this pairing to the opening ceremony as best friends!
 
Russia - Nottingham

The Russian delegation arrived early this morning into the city of Nottingham, their home for the coming weeks. Nottingham was originally named Tigguo Cobauc, meaning 'City of Caves' and the famous Nottingham Castle itself sits atop a network fof sandstone caves. It is this castle that has housed Richard the Lionheart, who led the crusades and the Sheriff of Nottingham. But there are a few quirks in this town! Nottingham has one of the smallest cinemas in the world with just 22 seats, the worlds first professional football club (Notts County) and one of the oldest pubs, dating back to 1189, but beware Team Russia supposedly anyone who cleans the Trip to Jerusalem pub will die!

Most of the caves within Nottingham are man made and have been used thorughout history for a range of purposes from pubs to air raid shelters and sums. There are over 500 known caves, and over 100 of those have been discovered since 2010. But these cave shave a dark past of disease and revolt. In 1330, King Edward III and a group of conspirators crept through a secret tunnel into the city's castle and took prisoner Roger de Mortimer, a nobleman who had until then effectively been England's ruler. During the Industrial Revolution landlords would house the inlux of workers in the caves, creating slums where disease was rife. Today how about heading to the Hand and Heart pub located in the caves for a drink!
 

Guam  1st Issue -- When I Know You're Lying
 

This was difficult, mainly because the only artist from Guam that pretty much 1/5 of the world knows is Pia Mia, but you know me, I tend to back away from the really popular ones unless it's the only option available.

It definitely started with Russia's fault obviously, thinking it was a wonderful idea to claim another nation's land out of the blue 
 
Ukraine's reaction now is just as bad though, events like the Olympics or a ESC are exactly the kind of events where one should 'forget' this for a moment. 

Disolve the contest or move it to a country not at war, namely Bulgaria, the true winner of 2016 

Oh trust me, I know that already It's a bit unfortunate, cause she's one of the best for me this year and it's difficult to understand the Eurovision fans on what do they base those low ranks every year. Like, for example, last year, San-Marino was obviously horrible, unlike Fusedmarc, that has the vocals, the instrumental and a performance filled with good vibes & energy. My only hope is now a very good live show, but I wouldn't really care about the results, cause they wouldn't change my opinion about this song.

While it is true I often divert from the ever popular superfan opinions of the songs chosen, I think I will have to listen to your country's entry a few times before I can firmly decide to love it or not, but actually so far it's one of the better ones. Unfortunately I only have the live version, which makes it hard for me to form an opinion, but once I do get it, I'll let you know.

Welp, I managed to find the 12 I really like, now it's just a matter of time before I start ranking them all, but I have to say, one of the shortlisted countries just got my instant 12, but I'm not saying anything else.

hi guys, since the beginning of this contest, so many users contacted me to join here but I didn't, this time here I am
 
but first I want to be sure about my responsibilities here. I read the rules in first page but that was too long, and I'm not a fan of Eurovision to know its format. so in short I have to pick an Iranian song in next couple of days (I already have one or two in my mind) then I have to listen to all those selected songs from all countries to pick 12 and rank them from 1st to 12th. that's it ?

Haha no worries. I love this contest too much to worry about my ending place, but I was so focused on beating the Netherlands for third that I completely forgot about giving points to Canada (the song was good tho, so they deserved it more than I do).
 
In other words, the downside of voting last.

I'm sure @amen09 and @tuniscof will make great hosts in 2017 TISC Open. No doubt we will be there.
 
But I think maybe it's high time for @hckosice to become an honorary Tunisian citizen after getting the golden ticket?

I was thinking about a knockout round which we have heats like so...
 
Heat 1: Algeria, New Zealand, Tunisia
Heat 2: Croatia, Poland, Serbia
Heat 3: Canada, Mexico, United States
Heat 4: The countries that came in second in their original heats (like a second chance round)
 
Then hold 2 semi finals with the 4 remaining countries. The two winners will face off in the final and whoever has the most votes becomes the host (and all by polling. I recommend strawpoll.me for real time results, thought I was thinking we might make the results hidden for added suspense)

Yeah, my big congrats to @Werloc on staging this wonderful contest. It was totally worth waiting for.
 
As for us, it's the second year in a row we have achieved our best placing ever (4th) and the US delegation couldn't be more prouder of Kelly, but damn, we thought we got the podium and I was so focused on beating the Netherlands that I forgot all about Canada, but it was well-fought battle, so no regrets.
