  1. At some point do these Norwegian males start shopping themselves around for the highest bidder? With the depth on the squad, they can not all progress to the World Cup level. Sort of the way distance runners have done from Kenya to Turkey, Qatar, etc.
  2. I will be the 2nd leg of the Men's relay. On a more serious note, are the smaller nations who compete the germination of a particular athlete or a concerted effort from the nation? Take Brazil by example. Is that the athletes or the nation? I have an idea, but I was wondering.
  3. Would say a Biathlon Federation of Catalonia be allowed? If Greenland is, I would think that Catalonia would be allowed.
  4. Who is up for this in the 2019/2020 IBU cup season? That would be a ton of fun! Now, I am not being serious, but I do like this rule for a couple of reasons, it does not put a barrier on new nations from competing.
  5. Would the IBU still allow her to compete for Greenland, but the IOC for Denmark? My paternal Great grandfather is Danish, Jensen, so can I ski for Denmark?
  6. An odd piece of news from Denmark: Greenland teen a big biathlon hopeNorway, Sweden and Finland are light years ahead of Denmark when it comes to the biathlon, but a 17-year-old from Greenland could help bridge that gap in the near future. Ukaleq Slettemark won the women’s 10 km individual title at the recent 2019 Biathlon Junior World Championships in Slovakia, taking Greenland’s first ever medal in an international competition. Slettemark spent some of her formative years in Norway. It sounds like Denmark might be making a play for Slettemark.
  7. There might not be a Mass 60, Only 52 women started the sprint yesterday won by Abramova of who went 0 + 0. On the men's side there were 65 who signed up, two who DNS, three who DNF. So only 60 finished the race. The top 4 spots all went to athletes from with Dale taking the win. Another sprint today, and then the Mass 60 on Saturday. Same day as the Relays.
  8. US 13th, just outside of where I hoped they would end up.
  9. If Hofer had gone clear, the last lap could have been really interesting. Love how Boe can not find his partner!
  10. Hoffer keeping it close. If he can go clean, and Bo miss one, is that enough? That would be a great chase and finish.
  11. Should be a fun finish. I wonder if Hoffer and Samuelsson can stay close to Boe? The short distances actually favor a closer race.
  12. Simon with the meltdown. Hauser fell on getting up!
  13. US went on the penalty loop as well. 8th place to 17th
  14. Love the shot from the camera as they come down the hill into the stadium.
  15. Well, Dunklee shot well on the first shooting. Let's home for not Soldier Hollow again.
  16. @Werloc Any bets on who will win between the USA and Lithuania?
  17. Last IBU Cup this weekend in Martell. A new event, the 60 person mass start. From the IBU website: Mass Start 60 The competition, just presented at the 2018 IBU Congress, is not just an exciting one, but can become a good option for lower level event series such as the IBU Cup and IBU Junior Cup that have big fields. The new format's test will be held on the final day, 17 March, for 60 athletes, where the top 10 of the IBU Cup Total Score will be qualified directly and the 50 remaining spots will be field in according to the results of the previous day's sprint competition . The cup scoring points go only to the IBU Cup Total Score. As in the traditional mass start, the men will cover the distance of 15 km (6x2.5km), while a course length for the women will be 12 km (6x2km). IBU Sports Director Felix Bitterling explained how the competition will be conducted. “60 athletes will start simultaneously; after the first loop, bibs 31-60 go into the range for their first shooting, while bibs 1-30 go out on the track for another loop without shooting. After this, the procedure is vice versa: bibs 31-60 will proceed to the course without shooting, while bibs 1-30 will have their first prone. After these two groups conducted their first shooting, the competition will be organized as in a pursuit.” I am on the fence with this one. I would love to see the live stream on this one, but I doubt it would be shown.
  18. Very pleased with the US results in the Individuals - Nordgren in 16th and Doherty in 17th place. Not too bad. Dunklee and Doherty for the US tomorrow. I was wondering if Egan would take Dunklee's spot, top 10 would be awesome, Top 12 would be good as well.
  19. No idea, but has there ever been a larger swing from domination to simply fighting to make the flower ceremony in one year's time? It is obvious that the coaching is working for the men's team, is that the issue? I have no idea, but it sure has been dramatic to see people talking about how Fourcade would catch Bjordahlen, to now, will he win consistency again.
  20. Yep, very happy. 22nd place when shooting 0+0. See what I mean when I said top 15 would be amazing! The fact that both Claire Egan and Joanna Reid were in the top 15 for the womens sprint was great. But it was not just Doherty who shot well, coming off his terrible performance in the Mixed Relay, Nordgren shot 0+0, but is 1:51 behind, in 34th place. A third American male, Jake Brown also qualified for the pursuit at 0+3 2:41 in 58th place. I predict he will be lapped. Great shooting for four (males and females) in the sprint, just not great ski speed. But I am happy!
  21. Clair Egan does well with a 1+0 and +33.3 11th place. Joanne Reid goes 0+0 with +50.1. Dunklee goes 2+2 to finish 58 +2:30. Two in the top 15 is a great result.
  22. US did about what I thought the would do. Dunklee went ok, but used 5 spares, but her skiing was fast. Egan only used 3 spares, not as fast as Dunklee, but good. Doherty went 0 + 0, skied fast and had the team in 8th at the last handover. Nordgren went 3+5 . They ended had a 2 min penalty as well for IBU DR 5.5 b - 5.5 deals with Ski Testing on the Competition Course. Found it - "Every round not fired if athletes recommence skiing before they have fired all ... eight shots in a relay competition, having not hit all targets" I wonder if this was the thing that happened to Dunklee or was Nordgren the one guilty?
  23. All do not pan out, but Cisar is one to keep tabs on for sure. I hope he keeps working hard, and keeps his arc of progression.
