  1. Nope, Egan has a higher upside than Dunklee. I agree with you. Give her some more time.
  2. 83 for the 2nd women sprint, 110 for the men. Is the pursuit on Sunday based off the 2nd sprint or a combination of the two?
  3. US are going with Doherty and Dunklee in the Single Mixed, arguably their strongest two. Mixed will be Egan - Reid - Nordgren - Howe - First two are solid, Nordgren can be decent, Howe is a wildcard. If they were to crack the top 15 with this line-up, I would be ecstatic! By the way, Forucade and J T Boe will anchor their teams in the Mixed. Should be great fun! 26 teams in the single mixed with Croatia the only one not in the mixed.
  4. Congrats to Erdal for the win. Never did I think that Dickinson would get 2nd place! Hettich missed all 10, and still finished in 52nd place. I could not tell you the last time there was an American on the IBU Cup podium.
  5. Dickinson from US is currently in 1st after the first shoot! I did not see that happening.
  6. Starykh with a fast and clean first shoot. She is setting a fast pace.
  7. And the women have begun ... I wonder if the shooting will be as much of a challenge as it was for the men.
  8. Pretty average day for the US racers overall. Paul Schommer missed 5, but was only 2:35 back. That does give me some hope. He is #5 right now for the US, that has not changed. Max Durtschi and Jake Brown both missed 6 shots and finished over 5 min behind. Par for the course from them as well. Interesting finishing stat. 1-4 - within a min (4) 5-19 - within 2 min (15) 20-39 - within 3 min (20) 40-62- within 4 min (23) 63-74- within 5 min (22) 75-88- within 6 min (14) 89-100- within 7 min (12) 101-104- within 8 min (4) 105-108- within 9 min (4) 109- within 10 min (1) 110-113 - over 10 min (4) That is a pretty nice bell curve.
  9. So nice to follow actual races again ...
  10. Beat him by almost 30 seconds. Two athletes pulled out, Gyallai of Hungary and Yilmaz of Turkey, who only missed two shots in the first shooting. I hope that both are not hurt.
  11. Good thing that the next race is another Sprint, and not a pursuit. It would simply have been a two/three person race based on the results so far. Just a quick question, after today, will the starting spots be allotted like the WC, where they are in 4 sections? Or is it more random.
  12. My grandfather was Danish, so I have a soft spot in my heart for them. I do hope that he does better in two days.
  13. Can he ski faster than Peacock of the UK and not finish last? I would assume that most Danes who ski need to head across the water to train in Norway or Sweden. Swiss hope Sebastian Stalder did not do well, 8 misses. I look forward to see how he will rebound in a few days.
  14. I was looking at the results and Kim from Korea only missed 2 shots, but finished almost 7 min behind. That looks like me out there, but no way would I have only missed two.
  15. It is still early here, one miss in my brain turned into shot clean with my fingers. Sorry. Fratzscher with a healthy lead.
  16. Sorry to be so late to the party, shooting conditions must be really poor. Congrats to the two so far who have shot clean, Trush from Ukraine and Fratzscher from Germany.
  17. I was looking at the start list for the men's race tomorrow. It turns out that Vinny Fountain, who starts 75th tomorrow, and races for the UK was born in Virginia. I wonder about that story.
  18. I like the colors. A first glance, they looked leather. My thought was, that is one way to stand out.
  19. I do wonder if we will see Michela Carrara in one of those unused spots by the end of the season. She was decent in the IBU Cup last season.
  20. That was my view of it as well. I was hoping that they would announce IBU Cup races to be streamed here.
  21. IBU announces an official partnership with the Olympic Channel. The article says this is about Target 2026, but offers little details on what will be shown. The IBU also commented on two possible EU legislative movements that may change the sport in some ways, the ban on fluorine wax and lead. I do wonder if a ban on lead would lead to two types of bullets being used. Traditional ones with lead outside of the EU, and ones without inside. I would assume that would cause some major issues with consistency in shooting.
  22. Two whole lines, it is amazing that a fight does not break out!
  23. I was speaking about biathlon in general. Yes I know that the "roar" is very muted even at the best IBU Cup event.
  24. I am looking forward to the sprint. There will be lots of story lines. Who will get the last WC spot, who feels snubbed and does well. Who feels snubbed and does poorly. Which juniors are ready to move full-time to the IBU Cup, who needs more time with the youth. Mostly I am ready to hear the crack of the shot. The ping of the hit. The roar of the crowd. It's the most wonderful time of the year...
  25. has their roster Men: Fabien Claude, Simon Desthieux, Quentin Fillon Maillet, Martin Fourcade, Antonin Guigonnat, Emilien Jacquelin - That is a strong team. Women: Célia Aymonier, Anaïs Bescond, Justine Braisaz, Chloé Chevalier, Caroline Colombo, Julia Simon Anais Chevalier is out for the season due to childbirth. I do wonder if we will see Bourgois Republic in things go well for him in the IBU Cup at the end of the season.
