  1. Everything that I have seen lists her as being born in Austria. I am not as familiar with her story as others. What made her decide to race for Germany instead of Austria?
  2. Quite a few rosters announced . Men: Julian Eberhard, Simon Eder, Dominik Landertinger, Felix Leitner, Tobias Eberhard, plus presumed fastest from Sjusjoen Sprint.. They have had some practice as Dahlmeier missed quite a few races anyway. . Men: Benjamin Weger, Jeremy Finello, Serafin Wiestner and Mario Dolder. Niklas Hartweg and Sebastien Stadler who might make appearances by the end of the season. 3. From what I can find, the course has only been used a few times starting in 2017/2018 for an IBU Cup. Last year the final two races were held there, and the IBU Cup is scheduled to be there each season until at least the 2021/2022 season. I put together a spreadsheet of every event from 1980/1981 through the present that I could find. There are some interesting locales. If anyone cares, I have attached it. This does not include Nation specific events, such as Russian or Norway events. I have also excluded the NORAM events in the US and Canada. Enjoy. World Biathlon Venues.xlsx
  4. @brunamoura Thanks for the insight. I love to see your posts about what is it like on the other side of the track. Please keep posting as it really adds to the site.
  5. Russian Biathlon is back in the news. Looks like Austrian authorities conducted a late night visit to the team. They have also announced the teams for the WC and IBU Cups, but there is some decisions that are being questioned because the coaches did not follow the federations stated criteria. The second article appears to have been translated from Russian, so some of the wording is not quite correct. Russian WC team: Men: Alexander Loginov, Evgeny Garanichev, Dmitry Malyshko, Anton Babikov, Eduard Latypov, Nikita Porshnev, Matvey Eliseev. Women: Ekaterina Yurlova-Percht, Victoria Slivko, Svetlana Mironova, Larisa Kuklina, Kristina Reztsova, Tamara Voronina. Another article about finances with Ostersund. One of the city councilors appears to state that the WC stop is drawing fewer people than in the past, especially when Magdalena Forsberg was on the top of the biathlon world. IBU put out a good piece on the new Chinese biathlon coaches.
  6. One interesting thing from the Constitution: LIST OF MEMBERS OF THE IBU The IBU currently has 54 full member federations: 01 ARG Argentina 02 ARM Armenia 03 AUS Australia 04 AUT Austria 05 BEL Belgium 06 BIH Bosnia and Herzegovina 07 BLR Belarus 08 BRA Brazil 09 BUL Bulgaria 10 CAN Canada 11 CHI Chile 12 CHN China 13 CRO Croatia 14 CYP Cyprus 15 CZE Czech Republic 16 DEN Denmark 17 ESP Spain 18 EST Estonia 19 FIN Finland 20 FRA France 21 GBR Great Britain 22 GEO Georgia 23 GER Germany 24 GRE Greece 25 GRL Greenland 26 HUN Hungary 27 IND India 28 IRL Ireland 29 ITA Italy 30 JPN Japan 31 KAZ Kazakhstan 32 KGZ Kyrgyzstan 33 KOR Korea 34 LAT Latvia 35 LIE Liechtenstein 36 LTU Lithuania 37 MDA Moldova 38 MGL Mongolia 39 MKD North Macedonia 40 NED Netherlands 41 NOR Norway 42 NZL New Zealand 43 POL Poland 44 ROU Romania 45 SLO Slovenia 46 SRB Serbia 47 SUI Switzerland 48 SVK Slovakia 49 SWE Sweden 50 TPE Chinese Taipei 51 TUR Turkey 52 UKR Ukraine 53 USA USA 54 UZB Uzbekistan The IBU currently has five provisional members: 01 AND Andorra 02 DOM Dominican Republic 03 ISL Iceland 04 MEX Mexico 05 RUS Russia So Russia is on the same level as Dominican Republic! That is amazing. From the Biathlon Guide, It is interesting that on pages 58-61, they include the North American Races and the South American Championships on the calendar. Pages 62 through 66 list the prize money per race. Martell only has seats for 1000 people and only allow 500 additional people on the course.
  7. New Constitution is up now. New media guide is up now as well.
  8. Wow, who knew a poorly worded article would cause so much discussion. I love the 5 targets, the reloading, the wind, all of it.
  9. I saw the thing about Eckhoff laughed. I think the article has been run through Google translator. As to how I am made aware of them, I have a Google alert set up. Lots of random stuff come across my e-mail, I only post those that seem to have any relevance at all.
  10. There is a potential serious challenge to biathlon ahead. The European Commission has throw around the idea of banning the use of led in outdoor sports. Although not a massive part, lead is used in the bullets for biathlon. The earliest this could be implemented would be 2022.
  11. Thanks for the answers, and yes I had remembered that Dale raced on the WC last year. I guess my comment was more about the extreme depth of the team. I wonder if any of the younger ones have a tie to the US. Their team could use them. All joking aside Norway men's relay should continue to be really strong.
  12. It looked liked there were no lights on the course. This could be part of the reason we do not see it too often.
  13. How is Norway going to deal with Dale's arrival? Who misses out on the WC spots?
  14. Other notes: Laura Dahlmeier is going to do expert commentary for ZDF on what is going to be "selected broadcasts". She will be at Le Grand Bornard and Antholz for sure. One of the stranger stories from US Biathlon, Kari Swenson, the US biathlete who was kidnapped while on a training run, has recently given an interview with ESPN and will be on their 30 for 30 podcast stating Tuesday. There was a made for TV movie about this that is on Youtube.
  15. That is great to hear that there will be livestream of the IBU Cup events this season.
  16. I think I did it correct, I am not sure. For those who want more, here is a link to another Biathlon manager game. It actually has a cash payout
  17. [hide] Nation Captains FIN Kaisa Makarainen NOR Johannes Thingnes Boe Nation Women ITL Dorothea Wierer SWI Elisa Gasparin USA Claire Egan SWE Mona Brosson Nation Men FRA Martin Fourcade GER Erik Lesser SWE Sebastian Samuelsson USA Sean Doherty [/hide]
  18. Looks like a nice course. I have never been able to see races here before. Just to make sure, the 1994 Olympics did not race here, but just down the road. Thanks for posting the links to the races.
  19. Canada has their roster out Carsen Campbell; Bedeque, PE Trevor Kiers; Sprucedale, ON Matthew Strum; Canmore, AB Adam Runnalls; Calgary, AB Emily Dickson; Burns Lake, BC Darya Sepandj; Calgary, AB
  20. has their roster out. Christian Gow; Calgary, AB Scott Gow; Calgary, AB Aidan Millar; Canmore, AB Jules Burnotte, Sherbrooke, QC Emma Lunder; Vernon, BC Sarah Beaudry; Prince George, BC Nadia Moser; Whitehorse, YT Megan Bankes; Calgary, AB
  21. I guessed a lot, and was lucky. Also as a fan of the Swiss, I was able to get the Gasparin question right.
  22. Two interesting notes. 1. 2020 Summer Biathlon championships are headed to Germany. 2. Biathlon Canada is turning to meet and greets for fundraisers to lessen the gap due to a funding shortfall.
  23. Time to see how much you really know. IBU has a quiz about last years IBU cup. I got 11 out of 25.
