  1. For someone banging the drum for the GBR equestrian team in general for the last 12 months, I'll be hating myself even more dont you worry!
  2. Germany have an elimination in the cross country! Wide open for GBR now in the team.
  3. Getting into the 100m back (M) and 100m breast (W) looks like being incredibly tough, fingers crossed Angharad and Ollie can both go close to their BRs, will need too.
  4. Swimming starting well: 200m free qualifications for Matt and Duncan safely Max qualifies 2nd fastest for 400 IM final in a 4 09.5! Very much optimistic for the final. Evans coming up
  5. Also, if you are able to, watch the replay of the first men's pair heat. The top 4 essentially were covered by a blanket after a sprint finish and probably GBR's biggest threat to gold the world champ Swiss pair dropped from 1st to 4th in the final sprint. They will now need to row an extra race.... so impressive from the GB boys in the heat, absolutely dominant.
  6. That's highly disappointing actually, oddsmakers had them going in as 4th favs! Admittedly I was never quite that high on hopes but thought a semi final berth was assured.
  7. The women's gymnasts have been sadly underperforming across the board this morning. Sole positive is Becky likely into the bars final. Eesh difficult start to the day with the archery being...well erratic might be kind.
  8. Well damn that’s confidence - cyber streaking on the line 🤣
  9. Let’s see if Angharad steps up; she goes tomorrow. I still think there is genuine hopes of a shock medal there, and Freya in the 400 IM. Max goes tomorrow and again is probably considered 5th fav so would be a real bonus.
  10. big day tomorrow; in particular for the rowing squad, eventing, Peaty and the swimmers, the Ladies gymnastics qualify and Chelsea going in the Judo [hopes of the team are basically on her], and the start of the sailing races!
  11. My takeaways from today are really not on the results so much (the two medals we got I think was defo on the "exceeds expectations" classification: - really excited for the eventing team. All 3 essentially in the top 10 and currently two fences clear of Ger. Cross country obviously is high risk, but the 3 combinations we have got are as good as you'd ever wish for. High hopes for the individual and the team. - Quadruple sculls ladies looked really in control. This was the boat I was focused on today, but all boats performed strongly, which bodes well for the squad. - Male gymnasts I think have done remarkedly well in qualification. We have two gents in the All round, a really solid shot of a bronze medal in the team, and all of our genuine medal hopes into finals. Jake on floor looked like he FINALLY has put it together! - Very pleasantly surprised by the men's hockey team winning in style. - Swimming was a little bit of a mixed bag, disappointing in the mens 4x1 but Keanna PB and Adam through to the final. Good swims for by the GB ladies too in the 4x100. Hopeful Freya Anderson swims the 4x200. I will say the medley relays look far less competitive if the front end of the breaststrokers isn't more spread out. I'm hoping AP has much more to give in the final tomorrow. - Canoe Slalom - Job Done and Burgess impressed. Kimberly Woods hopes are much more targeted on the Kayak X.
  12. The 3 200 boys all swam well, and are all stronger on the back end of the 2 so don't agree with the above
  13. still my positives; Richards in particular looks in good form. Tom Dean seemed to make progress in leg 3. Dressel to me doesn't look like as serious a threat to Proud in the 50m as I thought.
  14. the 100m breast times are really slow suprisingly...not sure what it means for the final but both Adam and Qin going very high 58s, entire field covered by 0.5 secs. I guess Adam leads after 75 and tries to hang on with the field chasing him down
  15. Would have been silver without the bike change. A real horrible shame but thats cycling.
  16. To be honest the standard is so tight that anything is possible! I will say France played the best rugby tonight, so fast and great hands, and then they brought DuPont on to secure the win in the 2nd half, and he was excellent. SA having lost 2 of the group games I think took their chance extremely well against an under performing NZ tonight. The home support will be hard for any team to overcome I think
  17. Just come home from the stadium, some thoughts on the quarters: - French crowd were insane for their match vs Argentina. Stadium was absolutely rocking. - TMO quick decisions seem to being prioritised over getting the correct decisions [ 2 odd ones from the stadium views were the disallowed Arg try and the winning try Fiji were awarded despite a seemingly blatant knock on] - NZ were really poor relative to the group stage, the rain had started lightly falling 10 mins before and they made a number of handling errors. SA scored two tries from bits of magic from their best player. - Ireland were all too often looking for Kennedy for creative spark, but were slightly unfortunate to come up short. - I expect France to win the first semi, but Fiji vs Australia is too tough to call. - The quality of rugby in general was really high, especially the defensive structure that all teams maintained.
