  1. I still stick to my prediction from last year that Trump will win. But after covid it will be very close (I said easily before). The further away from pandemic peak the more chances he has. Biden could have won had they been held 1 month ago.
  2. It's also the only species (for now) that could protect the others from extinction if an asteroid approaches tomorrow just saying eh, ask the dinosaurs.
  3. Tbf you are all talking about "Africa" like it's a giant monolithic state or something. There are vastly different realities in Morocco, South Africa, Somalia, Congo...
  4. "Interest" is not something that can be generated out of nowhere. People from x place have interest in playing a sport mostly when they see there are opportunities for them in said sport. Those countries invest in summer sports because they are cheaper in general. Why do you think football is so popular in almost any country? because it's incredibly cheap to play, you just need a ball and a large enough space anywhere. And because there are many opportunities to become professional in that sport. On the other hand, other summer sports like golf for example aren't exactly popular in poor countries because equipment is very expensive and because opportunity to become pro is more limited, especially if you live far away from the main hubs of pro tours. Same goes for winter sports. So, in short, yes, it is largely about money.
  5. First you say this but in your following post you talk precisely about money and class...
  6. This argument is bad. You will always have to buy stuff from one rich guy or another if you want to live in almost any country. Having to live in a certain system doesn't per se invalidate your criticism of it.

  9. Bruno Fernandes as top scorer of Europa league is the easiest prediction since United gets a penalty every game this year
  10. Aha. He seems to have more organized opposition than Putin in Russia.
  11. Would Lukashenko lose if the elections were completely fair or is it (like in many other countries with authoritarian or populist governments) mostly the more "visible" urban educated population that is against him?

  15. Less than 10 countries have more Nobel laureates than olympic gold medalists. So, obviously winning olympic gold is easier.

  19. That's in Spain only, everywhere else in hispanic world it is "canotaje" for Canoeing. I was asking because of the similarity of the word with the italian for rowing. Hmm curious... "Canoa" would be referring to the canoe (as in the object) in our language. I see that rowing is canotaj in romanian, similar root as italian I suppose. Both quite different from spanish and french words for that same sport ("remo" and "aviron").
  20. Not even cerchidigloria has the audio for 1984 final in their LA recap video, is it sure this man was narrating rowing that year? it seems to me like he is/was one of those multi-task football pundits. btw rowing is "canottaggio"? what is canoeing then?

  22. Numbers don't add up for the final round. It's 14 games but in 5 international windows (so, 10 matches)?
  23. I just checked and it's less than half sports. However it does include athletics and gymnastics out of the most crowded sports (though the women in gymnastics are so young at YOG that some are born in the year of the next SOG).
  24. What? I don't understand. I'm very sure there were athletes born in 2000 back in 2018 and in majority of sports
  25. Why is it postponed for 4 years? couldn't it be for 1 or 2? I'm sad about the generation of athletes that won't have this experience. Despite the joke sports the event has a beautiful energy, one of the most engaging things I attended to as sport fan.
