I suggest leaving this thread as it is and letting everyone who wishes to participate here post whatever they want. Making any sort of contest, poll or something would "spoil" a part of the fun of the prediction contests next year. In particular those contests where you have to predict only medalists.

No, we can't say the same about every sport. In women's football we know perfectly well that all teams will take their best available players. Of course we can make a much better prediction for it compared to men's. Same with a lot of other sports.. volleyball, handball, rowing, canoeing, etc. On the other hand there is sports like Men's football, men's basketball, baseball, tennis, golf, etc with more uncertainty of who will show up as a start. But you already know all this, I don't know why you found my statement controversial

Serbia with nothing in the WP... no. Table: Italy up (already argued it). Netherlands down a bit (this is even more than totallympics medal table and no, those numbers are already ridiculous). Turkey less golds, Ireland less medals. One or two more gold for Serbia and India. (this is just my opinion)

Anything can happen in that football competition tbh, the squads could be anything. No prediction we make now matters because clubs can do whatever they want and not all teams will prepare with the same seriousness. I can easily see a properly prepared team like Japan beating a powerhouse with their B squad and one week of training together. Btw Salah chance of playing is low with the afcon being next year.

It's not one person, it's decided by individual judges. The only "official" indication (from government) was to give home arrest for people with non violent crimes sentences, but some judges have their own ideology and released bigger criminals.

All those cases you mention still had more bronzes than silvers though, this would be an absurd disproportion of gold to silver ratio (among high medaling nations, of course). 99% it won't happen. I mean losing 16 out of 18 finals? Also I checked and he gave them 0 golds in shotgun (5 events) and fencing (12 events)... yes, that is not realistic.

I think the chances of having the same podium twice in individual archery in a major competition are astronomically small

I think only someone that is not very familiar with latin languages or maybe someone who is italian could think that there could be an 'll' in that word after hearing it.

Argentina is an example of that. I think your queen had to be granted an exception back in the day to resign to it (or I vaguely remember something like that). Ps. We allow dual citizenship however.

Doing every event is too much for me, I'll just leave my picks for team sports in one post and that will be it. Of course, I'm assuming that certain teams would have qualified in a bunch of sports. My predictions for 2021 would be pretty much the same except 3 or 4 positions across all sports I think. The changes would be mostly related to a high age average of some teams or some sports in which the squads can drastically change year to year (men's football and men's rugby mostly).

The skeet, clearly. They have 2 of the best 3/4 shooters IMO (world ranking doesn't mean much in this sport).

Sadly, I think that by next year "the world" will simply accept that we have to live with the virus. Economy ultimately prevails over anything.

I didn't participate this time but I think USA is the only regular country I have never awarded points to. And they haven't really picked any bad songs... it's just they didn't catch my attention enough perhaps?

I'm all in for the alternate nations idea.
