The total of 60 men and 55 women puts us at 115 athletes which is three over the maximum quota limit. However, I would expect this number to go down by next weekend as skaters start to experience regression to the mean and skaters who put up an outlier performance fall out of qualification position. Lot's of surprising countries in qualifying position here It'll be interesting to see how long countries like Hong Kong, Slovakia, Taiwan and Thailand can hang on. We have 82+1 countries qualified atm.

These ones should be safe to joining them:

    - Has an athlete in qualification position in Freestyle skiing (halfpipe), but needs to meet the minimum FIS points total
     - Should easily qualify in biathlon
     - Appears they have an athlete in qualification position in alpine skiing, but not on the FIS' list. Perhaps a citizenship issue, which in theory should be fixed before the games
    - Should qualify in alpine skiing

These countries are just outside qualification position and need better results to qualify
     - Alpine skiing
    - Alpine skiing ( and could qualify in Bobsleigh as well)
    - Alpine skiing
    - Skeleton
     - Skeleton
    - Women's monobob - with the field size at worlds really low, its possible one of their athletes sneaks in.
    - Figure skating Pairs

Unlikely to qualify but have athletes trying
     - Alpine skiing
    - Alpine skiing (still with citizenship issues)
     - Alpine skiing
     - Skeleton / alpine skiing
    - Figure skating
     - Alpine skiing
    - Alpine skiing
     - Alpine skiing
    - Alpine skiing
    - Alpine skiing

    Unknowns:
unsure if their athlete from Beijing will attempt qualification again
     - their only athlete with potential to qualify came back and DNF's his only race at the AWG, no race before (from 2022) or since then. Should be able to qualify if he tries to
     - Their monobob athlete from Beijing 2022 qualification cycle will try again.
     - 14 alpine skiing bios recently added to the FIS website for Guinea Bissau in alpine skiing, who knows their quality
    - Have an alpine skier from Switzerland? trying to qualify but has 0 results so far

Countries which competed in Beijing but won't in Milan-Cortina
     - athlete has retired.

France's team has been on the rise for a few years now, but this year especially has shown, that they can challenge the teams around 5-10 in the world.

This reminds me a bit about their men's team, which 15 or so years ago had a slump and were pretty average for number of years. Granted i don't expect at all, that France's women's team will reach the hights of their men's team, but the work has been done for them to start challenging for 1/4's at big Championships, after being practically unknown in big women's volleyball on a National level.
