  1. I am tired of a certain user bitching about everything.
  2. Just like Azerbaijan's defending gold medalist losing in the first round to Canada's AVF in London 2012? All other sports do not take place in the Commonwealth games so no discussion there, but Canada has had success in all those sports you listed in a continental or global level. And most of Canada's medals in Rio 2016 were born in Canada. The others chose to move and train here so there is no problem with that... unlike most countries in the Middle East buying athletes... how pathetic.
  3. Some of these games have no sense. From my understanding these games exclude those of a different faith. All of those countries competing are not 100% of one religion... so its a bit awkward for athletes that are not of that particular faith. Yes I do agree with the Commonwealth Games being more irrelevant. However, CGF released a 2022 plan where there would be Olympic qualification (or making the event important).
  4. Out of the 4, Canada has had the longest wait
  5. Canada, Malaysia, Australia and England have all made bids for the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
  6. No point in these games, just another 'dictator' games.
  7. Women's baseball and football have been dropped from the 2019 Pan Am Games program, so much for gender equality And sport climbing will not be contested.
  8. Canada won gold in the 4x200
  9. Canada just beat the USA h2h in a relay!!
  10. Buenos Aires withdraws from the 2023 Pan Am race, leaving Santiago as the only bid. First time ever 2 west coast cities will host back to back.
  11. won the Singapore Sevens
  12. Malaysia and Eritrea have now officially qualified! https://data.fis-ski.com/dynamic/olympic-quotas-list.html?sectorcode=al&listid=2018
  13. Well it is as the NBA season is held during the winter. The Canada Games for ex. has this model. Some summer sports like synchronized swimming, judo etc. are held during the 'winter edition'
  14. Interesting proposition: Make hockey a Summer Olympic event: Opinion Maybe this is the future of the Summer Olympics (to move some indoor events to the Winter Olympics)
  15. Precisely the reason they are bidding together. If all three bid separately and you had one bid from Africa, you would risk vote splitting and allowing Africa to win.
  16. Announced a three way bid for the 2026 World Cup http://www.canadasoccer.com/2026-fifa-world-cup-canada-usa-and-mexico-declare-intention-to-submit-unified-bid-p160713
  17. Canada's swim team was announced for the 2017 World Championships Arguably the best ever women's team . Multiple medals are expected. However the men's team is literally the weakest ever. Only 5 individual swims have qualified. The two strongest men are not competing Cochrane (retired) and Condorelli (unsure, but rumours are he is switching to compete for Italy).
  18. Canada wins gold at the men's worlds (and in undefeated fashion)!
  19. You can only blame the IOC. Off course all federations want new events, and with the IOC wanting gender equal events, you will get these ridiculous events being proposed. What's next mixed team events?
  20. Kylie Masse 0.09 off the WR https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C8xu9h5XgAAmkJe.jpg
  21. half marathon as in no more race walking.
  22. No NHL in PC2018 Canada's women's team doesn't look good so 0 golds for Canada...
  23. Australia used it in 2010 in the women;s bob, after the FIBT refused to give them a quota. So Ireland got bumped, but they got reinstated due to the FIBT's error.
  24. That's interesting. There was an article written (and even the FIS website) showing he retired. I'd assume the Bermuda Olympic Association asked him back as there really isn't any other athete close to competing for them atp.
  25. Yea exactly why I don;t like it as much. Didn't fully capture the full essence of the city.
