  1. Trump has more popular votes at this stage (69 million) than he got when he won in 2016 (63 million) He got 74 million in 2020. I assume fewer Hispanics & women voted for Harris compared to Biden four years ago.
  2. Race of the season in Interlagos. Funny how some rain can spice things up
  3. These Asian 250 (former International or Tier III and IV back in the old days) are back and they are the easiest way to rack up points and mount a jump in the standings. They used to be held in around the spring but with the Doha & Dubai expansion they've been moved to the tail end of the season after the COVID limit was lifted.
  4. Rebecca Sramkova has made another WTA 250 final in China. However Marie Bouzkova completely flopped in the other SF so no Czechoslovakian derby in the final @hckošice
  5. I'm happy for Ogura. He could have won that title two years ago but needlessly tried to pass Augusto Fernandez when the latter was behind in points and needed to be aggressive.
  6. Katie Boulter might be the most popular Brit in Hong Kong since 1997 judging by the crowd support. And she's into the 250 final there.
  7. Koki Ikeda (race walking) provisionally suspended for bio passport issues. https://apnews.com/article/doping-walking-ikeda-japan-42dc6360c605072a5b95e356d06aa6e5
  8. I still remember watching the World Junior Championships in Moncton when ES was hyping her unbeaten streak of 100+ races or whatever the number was and she promptly came 2nd in 200m
  9. Natalia Czerwonka has apparently un-retired and wants to qualify for 2026 OG
  10. Dodgers win game three 4-2 thanks to more elite pitching.
  11. Hail Mary bounce for the win
  12. Olga Danilovic wins Guangzhou 250 two weeks after she won ITF 100k Cornella de Llobregat and jumps to new career high #53.
  13. Dodgers win game two 4-2. Yankees had one hit until the 9th with Yamamoto keeping them in check. Ohtani picked up a shoulder injury trying to steal base so let's see how serious that is.
  14. Dodgers win G1 with a walk-off Grand Slam by Freeman in 10th inning. This is is the first walk-off Grand Slam in World Series history?
  15. girls' U-17 team qualified to the World Cup QF in Dominicana after not conceding a goal in the group stage. 0-0 vs 2-0 vs 0-0 vs
  16. MLB got their ideal WS: Yankees vs Dodgers
  17. Unheralded Suzan Lamens won Osaka 250 title as a qualifier. These Asian 250s are really the easiest way to make a run at a maiden WTA title for all these lower ranked players!
  18. Well, Honda and Yamaha are getting pantsed this season even more but at least we have more geese in Phillip Island
  19. Wim Fissette is Iga Świątek's new coach.
  20. If using decathlon/heptathlon points tables this Chepngetich run would be worth 1339 points which makes this the third highest scored WR among all women events. For comparison the hightest scoring WR is Reinsch in the discus worth 1382 points. Lisovskaya in the shot put is 1372 points. Chistyakova in the long jump is 1333 points. So we're all talking good old & school of athletics Among the men Duplantis' current pole vault WR is also worth 1339 points. The highest scoring WR is Zelezny in the javelin 1362 points. Bolt's 100/200 records, Powell in long jump and Warholm in 400h are also higher scored if barely.
  21. Mikaela Shiffrin won't compete in DH this season. https://www.nbcsports.com/olympics/news/mikaela-shiffrin-alpine-skiing-world-cup-2024
  22. lost to 1-3 and well, Portugal could have scored at least two more
  23. Xiao Guodong won Wuhan Open 10-7 over Si Jiahui in the final. Zhao Xintong is back playing after his 18 month ban (he won Q School event in Stockholm). Stephen Lee's 12 year ban for match fixing ended today (on his 50th birthday no less) but I don't expect him to show up in Main Tour again https://www.sportbible.com/snooker/stephen-lee-snooker-ban-match-fixing-return-836856-20240131
  24. Padres scored 6 runs in the 2nd inning of NLDS Game 3 and then scored 0 runs in the next 24 innings Dodgers won the series 3-2 to set up NLCS vs Mets.
