  1. Yes, sadly there are so many mass shootings in USA these days, nobody cares about them anymore. But blaming Trump doesn't make sense, even if he goes and there's a Dems President these things will happen again and again. I've said before NRA basically holds both the main parties hostage and gun control laws won't change anytime soon. You can pass hate crime laws whatever, that's just giving a plain murder a new fancy name. People will spend more time mocking the likes of Trump on twitter than really doing anything about these mass murders. But it comes down to culture, gun violence is rooted in your DNA and that's the way it is.
  2. Our Dutch friend seems not to care much about terminology so I spared him the details. The head of the Coptic Church does take part in the conclave though so technically he rides the Christian boat I'm not an atheist so I know the differences you mentioned but again, for heywoodu it's all black magic voodooo most likely.
  3. Well, I'm not a Protestant so I have no idea why they're aguing over those tiny differences since like forever and feel the need to invent a new church every other year. I bet nobody has heard about your group either Catholicism & Eastern Orthodox have been staying put for a very long time though so they don't deserve to be dismissed for pure terminology even by the most strict atheists
  4. There are no gazzilion branches of Christianity, there are three of them, Roman Catholicism (50%), Eastern Orthodox (12%) & Protestantism (36%). It's the protestants that have split into gazzilion branches like Mormons, lutherans, baptists, episcopalian, Church of England, Jehovah Witnesses and God knows what else. It seems like there is a new protestant church appearing every year as they've spun themselves out of bounds long, long time ago. Martin Luther must be very proud of this
  5. Of course but it's a local problem nonetherless. I can't see islam getting tolerant with LGBT anytime soon, it can only get worse but it's truly not my problem. As for the other stuff, wow, a religion founded in 2017? The protestants are getting more divided by the minute They are protesting the protestantism itself now or what?
  6. You know just the other day an American tried to teach me that Italy ruled Poland back in the day which was an obvious lie so I don't have much trust in Dutch reporters talking about Indonesia of all places
  7. I'm talking facts not generalization. There is no other country in the world with a bigger Muslim population that Indonesia
  8. The fact islam doesn't tolerate homosexuality isn't notable, it's common knowledge It's like reporting the water is wet. I guess Netherlands has gotten so far in their liberalism they are genuinely surprised people actually live a different life The stuff of TV & bikes you're talking about is probably Mennonites which is basically the same thing as Amish in the USA (who are Dutch descendants in first place so basically the same stuff under a different name). Even Hollywood makes movies about them so I see no reason why this isn't common knowledge as well? They probably don't use electricity at all IIRC hence they don't watch TV.
  9. Neah, newspapers only care about selling numbers. What makes those papers sell is unimportant. Case in point: News of the World hacking a dead girl's phone just to get a story. Journalism is one of the last places where you can find noble people doing noble things.
  10. Indonesia is the most populous Muslim country in the world. I'm unsure whether reporting on LGBT community half way across the globe is really that significant
  11. Makes you wonder why a Dutch newspaper wants to change culture in Indonesia though?
  12. Commonwealth of Poland-Lithuania was more racially diverse than you can ever imagine (and not exacly a loose kingdom as you describe it) but sadly the Russian Empire began rising to power again and fuelled the Cossack Uprising of 1648 which marked the beginning of our downfall. The Cossacks later sided with Russia but were promptly supressed and disbanded in 1775 once they became expandable (after Russia gained control of the Crimea & Black Sea). This had a long-standing impact on history all the way until Ukrainian nationalists siding with the Nazis during WWII.
  13. You have absolutely no idea what are you talking about. If a native Italian & a native Pole can't convince you how wrong your are then it's useless. Stop pretending you know anything about who ruled Poland and when Venice ruling over Poland?
  14. Bit of a thing? Oh yes, life has never meant less than in liberal Western Europe of the 21st century who preaches islamophobia instead
  15. They are ethnic Germans and nothing changes that no matter how you look at it. The Kingdom of Great Britain was formed in 1707, I believe that starts the 'British" period of history.
  16. He doesn't have much idea about the Commonwealth of Poland-Lithuania. He probably means the Italian wife of our king Sigismund the Old. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bona_Sforza
  17. And Portugal granted Capo Verde independence even though it was an inhabited island when they "conquered" it Lithuania never ruled Poland, our young queen needed to get married and a Lithuanian was chosen as her husband hence he became King. Austria-Hungary was formed long after Poland lost it's independence. Yes, we had Poles, Czechs, Hungarians, Swedes, Saxons & French as Kings. It's the classic bloodline issue that falls across every single Kingdom in Europe. The most powerful Russian Empress was a German, the current English monarchy are Germans too (House of Windsor my ass, the Anglo-Saxons don't rule England since 1066).
  18. At the end of the day globalism won't work the same way communism didn't work out. There's no one magic formula that keeps everyone happy. People are different and usually dislike when someone else tries to tell them what to do, how to behave and hell, even what God should they believe in. Muslims & Christians are different cultures that will never blend like you wish. It's simply impossible. The fall of colonial empires in Europe suggests the glossing part is way off. Moreover I come from a country that has never had any colonies during its existence while USA still can't let go off Puerto Rico among others
  19. It's funny you say this since USA gained independence based on nationalism alone. You didn't want to be a British colony and ended locking up all Native Americans in reservations Hell, you even gave out Medals of Honor for Indian massacres and segregated people based on skin color deep into 20th century. And you want to tell me Europeans are evil while Muslims are poor victims? C'mon now!
  20. Holy smokes, they don't teach you much European history in USA? Ottoman Empire was only supressed by the joined forces of Habsburg dynasty, Poland-Lithuania, Venice, Russia & Balkans at the end of the 17th century. Turkey was the common enemy that had these countries fighting on the same side (and Poland sure as heck NEVER fought together with Russia against anyone other than Ottomans). The Great Turkish War single-handedly prevented Europe from becoming a Muslim playground. Once the Ottomans were defeated, the Russian Empire rised to their subsequent power and divided Europe into Russian-German-French playground instead (with England sitting pretty on their island too). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Turkish_War
  21. This race thing is equally useless as the Rooney Rule in the NFL. You should elect the best person for the job and not someone who has a trendy skin color. If your politics only comes down to race it's a really sign how useless this is. Though I can imagine religion will also be a part of this, no Catholics, Jews or Muslims because they would offend too many people. The real race for Dems nomination won't start until the fall. Right now there are way too many candidates who are fighting against each other and giving Trump tremendous leeway. I think that's what helps this trend of re-elections of current presidents, the other party is too busy with a ton of useless candidates instead of focusing on the other guy in White House. Two years out you should have a firm candidate who would challenge Trump and instead it's a run of the mill string of mayors, governors and whomever else. This is where flaws of the democracy are at their peak. Trump has nothing to be worried about until Dems finally choose someone to challenge him.
  22. If Ottoman Empire conquered Europe, we'd have a Muslim continent to deal with for sure. That didn't happen. If Middle East countries refuse to accept otherwise liberal European culture why should Europe tolerate the very strict Muslim culture? It doesn't make any sense.
  23. Minority rule has never worked. The colonial empires have crumbled under it's own weight, likewise communism and then we had apartheid as well.
  24. And I'm sure lipstick & bikinis wouldn't fly in places like Yemen or Saudi Arabia but nobody calls this xenophobia Ottoman Empire has tried to conquer Europe but thankfully failed in their plans.
